Jeff Clemens - Marijuana

Well, we all know where Clemens stands on marijuana--he loves the stuff and from all indications, his bill will pass with a huge percentage this November.  The people are duped.  They believe it will be a cure all for pain and discomfort and the largest percentage of people approving of it are Seniors.  Some of it has to do with many of them being "flower" children and hippies years ago.

Instead of a commissioner's friend on Lake Avenue selling artificial marijuana and ending up in the federal slammer, we will see potheads all over Lake Avenue doing it all legally. I envision walking down Lake and getting high on fumes and more petty crime occurring. Clemens has palled around with a convicted drug felon, Robert Platshorn, (Black Tuna) who is America's most notorious drug smuggler. Clemens doesn't seem to mention this guy these days and we can certainly understand why. Platshorn is still advocating for medical marijuana. He served nearly 30 years in prison on federal drug charges. Since getting out six years ago, he's been promoting medical marijuana use to seniors in Florida, the most vulnerable people of all.

It is a proven fact...many drug addicts started by smoking marijuana. The vast majority of cocaine users (99.9%) began by first using a “gateway drug” like marijuana, cigarettes or alcohol. Of course, not everyone who smokes marijuana and hashish goes on to use harder drugs. Effects always wear off and this is when users try something stronger. All this legalization will lead to eventually legalizing it for general use and from that will come the use of even harder drugs. Long-term studies of high school students’ patterns of drug use show that most young people who use other drugs have tried marijuana, alcohol, or tobacco first.

The interesting thing about Clemens is not only that he is a die-hard progressive tax and spend liberal Democrat, he doesn't think much about religion, the other side of the story and thinks little about killing fetuses.  His stand on funding education has changed in the last few years too. But this is the guy that the mayor is looking to in order to help us get grant money for potholes. Realizing that it takes time to work within the system, whatever he "gets" for Lake Worth will be a first.
