Lindsey Graham dead at 71

Sen. Lindsey Graham dies at 71 after ‘brief and sudden illness’

President Donald Trump led tributes to Graham, a leading Republican voice on defense and foreign policy, describing him as a “true American Patriot.”

Graham was chairman of the Senate Budget Committee and was seeking a fifth six-year Senate term in November. He was one of the most well-known members of the chamber and a key voice within the party on defense and foreign policy.

Emergency personnel responded to a call for “cardiac arrest” at Graham’s Capitol Hill home on Saturday night, according to police scanner audio obtained by NBC News.

Dead People found on Voter Roles

North Carolina voter rolls found to contain 34,000 dead registrants after federal database check

North Carolina's State Board of Elections has identified approximately 34,000 deceased individuals still listed on the state's voter rolls, a discovery that came only after officials cross-referenced more than 7.3 million voter records against a federal database.

The finding, which the board's own executive director called "higher than we anticipated," raises pointed questions about how long those names sat untouched and what other states might find if they bothered to look.

The board submitted the records to the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements database earlier this month as part of an initiative to strengthen the accuracy of its registration lists, Fox News reported. The effort came amid a broader Trump administration push to compel states to open their voter-registration data to federal review, a push that has already triggered lawsuits against at least 30 states and the District of Columbia.

Federal law already requires states to remove deceased individuals from their voter rolls. That North Carolina needed a federal database match to flag 34,000 of them tells you how well the existing system was working on its own.

What the numbers show--The NCSBE submitted 7,397,734 voter records to the SAVE database, Newsmax reported. Officials said the gaps in the state's normal list-maintenance process allowed deceased voters who had moved out of North Carolina and later died in another state to slip through the cracks entirely.

President Trump Pardons Bernie Kerik

Bernie Kerik, the former New York City police commissioner who was hailed as a hero after 9/11, has died at 69 years old

His death was announced by FBI Director Kash Patel on Thursday night, who wrote that Kerik "passed away after a private battle with illness."

"Rest easy, Commissioner. Your watch has ended, but your impact will never fade," Patel wrote.

Kerik’s rise to national prominence came during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, where he became a steady figure alongside then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

NBC corrects False Claim

NBC News Makes Admission of False Claim About Kamala Harris

NBC's Kristen Welker suggested Vice President Kamala Harris attended the dignified transfer of U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan. But this was incorrect.

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., appeared on NBC’s "Meet the Press" and criticized both President Biden and Harris. He accused them of neglecting the families of the fallen soldiers.

"Joe Biden and Kamala Harris — where were they?

Harris was in D.C., just ten minutes away from the cemetery," Cotton said. "She could've honored those young men and women. She hasn’t. It’s because of their incompetence that 13 Americans died in Afghanistan.

Remember when Biden checked his watch?

Democrat took campaign donations from dead person

Sen. Sherrod Brown took campaign donations from dead woman

Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown's campaign has been caught doing something that is generally frowned upon. Brown's campaign accepted donations from a woman who had been dead for months, records show.

How often do these things happen?

This isn't likely to help Brown's reputation, and he is already locked in a tight fight for reelection with Republican Bernie Moreno ho got Trump's endorsement.

Despite the small amount, it is illegal. Brown's campaign knew they couldn't accept donations from dead people, yet it happened anyway.

If you believe this was all just one big misunderstanding, then I've got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.

I see Dead People

GROSS ERROR: Virginia Elections Department Discovers Nearly 20,000 Deceased Registered Voters

Who’s going to be the next U.S. president? Nineteen thousand registered voters in Virginia might have something to say about that — if not for the fact that they’re dead.

The state released a notice last week concerning a Virginia Department of Elections (ELECT) update. Integral to an improvement initiative, the department is making multiple changes to its “current operations, spurred by both feedback from the field as well as internal evaluations of existing processes.”

As part of the upgrade, ELECT has “streamlined the reporting of voters who are known to be deceased.” Going forward, family members will be able to report the death of a relative directly to their general registrar. And a national database will allow registrars to verify deaths out of state.
