Commission to consider date for Charter Amendment placement on Ballot

Comment Up

The Commission can either approve putting it on the ballot for November 6 or delay it up to 180 days and have a special election that will cost the City a heck of a lot of money.

November 6 is plenty of time for everyone to work the campaign, for or against. I would hope that they make the wise decision--place it on the November ballot and not cost the taxpayers money.

We shall see how frugal Scott Maxwell really is and how much he cares about his constituents. Are they going to make a handful of people in the back row happy or 1,785 people happy?

The American Dream

Comment Up
The American Dream Kid

Brazilian born Eduardo Saverin, age 30, came to the United States with his family when he was one year of age because he had been placed on a list by gangs specializing in kidnapping for ransom in Brazil. His father is a wealthy industrialist.

He went on to private schools and eventually ended up at Harvard where he was Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Economics. While there, he met Mark Zuckerberg and they started Facebook with Saverin being the CFO. Internal conflicts persisted and eventually Saverin's stock was diluted. Saverin sued; the case was settled and he left the company.

In 2010, Saverin liquidated $250 million worth of Facebook stock for other investments. Now living in Singapore that has no capital gains tax, he renounced his U.S. citizenship in September 2011 to avoid paying significantly more in US taxes because of the Facebook IPO that is coming up on May 17. He is expected to make $3.84 BILLION.
