Russia deploys its newest howitzers to Finland's border months after it joined military alliance, infuriating the Kremlin

Finland's NATO accession, spurred by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, was met with threats of counter-measures by Moscow.

Russia will soon deploy its newest howitzers to its Northern Military District which borders Finland months after the European nation joined NATO - a move that infuriated the Kremlin.

The testing of the new Coalition-SV self-propelled artillery units has been completed and their mass production has already started, Sergei Chemezov, the head of Rostec told the state RIA news agency in an interview.

The first pilot batch will be delivered by the end of 2023, he said.

In 2021, Putin changed the status of the Russian Northern Fleet, whose zone of responsibility was chiefly the Russian Arctic, to the Northern Military District, incorporating into it also the Murmansk region.

Moscow will build up forces at its western borders following Finland's accession to the U.S.-led NATO alliance.

This week, the Senate voted to allow Sweden and Finland into NATO. the vote was 95-1-1 with Josh Hawley dissenting and Rand Paul voting "present."

In a Senate floor statement ahead of the vote, Hawley said that instead of worrying about Europe, America should be focused on China.

“Expanding Nato will not make America stronger and it will not make America safer,” Mr Hawley said. “What it will do is commit us to sending more troops and spending more money and devoting more resources to Europe, and, frankly, I think that’s the wrong choice. Just look at the challenges at home with our border.”

Russia cuts off Finland from electricity for "non-payment"

Russia Cuts Off Electricity to Finland As Nation Courts NATO

The Russian supplier claims Finland was cut off for non-payment. The move came as Finnish politicians announced their plan to join the international defense group NATO.

Finnish transmission system operator Fingrid said in a statement that Russia’s imports only accounted for 10% of its consumption.

“The lack of electricity import from Russia will be compensated by importing more electricity from Sweden and by generating more electricity in Finland,” Reima Päivinen, senior vice president of power system operations said.

“Finland can cope without Russian electricity, now and even next winter, when the consumption will be higher.”

The Russian invasion of Ukraine, as it has been explained by the Kremlin, is nonsensical.

You see, Vladimir Putin and his cronies have continually suggested that their reason for brutally attacking this sovereign, neighboring nation was that “Nazis” had overtaken the government there. This is silly, of course, because the President of the Ukraine happens to be a Jewish descendant of Holocaust victims.

And then there were claims from Russia that they could not allow NATO to expand their influence into Ukraine – something that wasn’t really even a possibility before the invasion.

Russia threatening Sweden, Finland with military action if they join NATO

A spokeswoman for Russia's foreign ministry delivered a threat to two European countries considering NATO membership, in chilling remarks that come as Russia engages in aggression against Ukraine.

In a Friday morning news conference, Russia's Maria Zakharova warned that Sweden and Finland would face "military and political consequences" if they seek NATO membership.

Former interior minister Päivi Räsänen has gone on trial in Helsinki accused of inciting anti-LGBT+ hate speech.

She is accused of describing homosexuality as a “disorder of psychosexual development” and labeling homosexuals as “dysfunctional.”

After her controversial trial in court, she pleaded non-guilty to four charges of “inciting violence against a minority group” after condemning same-sex marriage in several writings and tv show appearances.

Rasanen described homosexuality as a “psychosexual developmental disorder” and said that homosexual people are “dysfunctional.”

One charge related to a June 2019 tweet in which the long-time parliamentarian criticized the Finnish Lutheran church for partnering with that year’s Pride celebrations, accusing the organization of “elevating shame and sin to a subject of pride.”
