Byron Donalds is the Frontrunner for Florida Governor
Donalds still leads Florida GOP governor’s race
but rivals press him on lawsuit, debates and polling
Byron Donalds remains the Republican frontrunner for Florida governor, but his rivals are trying to make the final stretch of the primary far less comfortable. The Trump-endorsed congressman is now pushing back against a new civil assault lawsuit filed in Collier County by Kelly Mason, who alleges Donalds threatened and intimidated her during a 2022 confrontation inside Seed to Table, a Naples grocery store.
The complaint claims the confrontation stemmed from litigation involving Donalds’ wife, Erika Donalds, and that Donalds threatened to “crush” or “finish” Mason. Donalds’ campaign dismissed the lawsuit as political.
“This is a baseless, politically motivated attack and shameful publicity stunt designed to damage Byron Donalds in the 2026 election,” said Gates McGavick, Donalds’ campaign communications director. “This individual has a long history of unsuccessful litigation against the Donalds family. Floridians deserve better news coverage than lazy reprints of a tabloid.”
The lawsuit comes as Donalds’ opponents are also trying to force him onto a debate stage. Former House Speaker Paul Renner is calling for another Republican primary debate, preferably on Fox News or another national outlet, after Donalds skipped a recent podcast debate featuring Renner, Lt. Gov. Jay Collins and James Fishback. Axios reported Donalds was still mentioned dozens of times during that debate, even though he did not participate.
“The voters want debates, they deserve debates,” Renner said. “He has to answer the why question: Why should he be the governor and not the other candidates in this race?”

There is no need for Donalds to debate:
Rep. BYRON DONALDS is out front with 37.5 percent, while Collins has 20.2 percent. Investor JAMES FISHBACK is in third with 9.6 percent. Former state House Speaker PAUL RENNER was at 2.1 percent

Associated Industries of Florida, one of the state’s most influential business organizations, on Tuesday endorsed Republican U.S. Rep. The SAVE ACT
The SAVE Act ensures that ONLY US CITIZENS can vote in our elections
" ILLEGALS are voting in elections because there is no national requirement for states to mandate proof of citizenship before they register to vote. Democrats have been using this to their advantage, and enough is enough.MILLIONS of illegals have been harbored in their sanctuary cities to destroy the America First agenda by voting Blue.
The SAVE Act will put an end to all of this, and the GOP and I have passed this, but Senate Democrats CONTINUE to block our efforts.
It’s no coincidence that the blue states that harbor the most illegals have the most illegals voting in their elections. And without the SAVE Act, Democrats can continue to get away with this insanity.
The age of non-citizens being able to vote in our elections is OVER, and we must send the message that America will not tolerate Illegals voting in our elections."
BYRON DONALDS
Passed the House on April 10, 2025.
Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act (H.R. 22) on April 10, 2025, by a narrow vote of 220-208, requiring proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration, with Democrats crossing the aisle to support it.
The following four Democrats voted to pass the bill through Congress:
Jared Golden, ME, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, WA, Henry Cuellar, TX, Ed Case, HI
It will take seven Democrats in the Senate to pass the bill. Lots of luck to that.

The 2026 Florida gubernatorial election will take place on November 3, 2026, to elect the next governor of Florida, alongside other state and local elections. Incumbent Republican Governor Ron DeSantis is term-limited and cannot seek election to a third consecutive term.
Democrats have not won a gubernatorial election in Florida since Lawton Chiles was re-elected Governor in 1994.
For the Democrats, the front-runner for the nomination appears to be David Jolly. Jolly, a former Republican member of Congress from 2014–17, announced his bid for governor in June.
Jolly, a vocal Trump critic during his time in office, expressed views that he was pro-life and for same-sex marriage, while also going against oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and supporting limits on political campaign contributions. These centrist stances led to Jolly being ranked as the 48th most bipartisan member of the U.S. House of Representatives by The Lugar Center in 2016.
If Jolly were to be nominated, it would be the second straight time the Democratic Party selected a former Republican.

Rashida Tlaib and Byron Donalds get into screaming match
Tlaib’s problem is the Left’s problem in general: when they can’t win an argument, they reach for “fascism” and “Nazis.” Oh, and we can't forget "Racism."
Donalds wasn’t having it. He called it “insane” over and over, and he was right. The idea that enforcing the law in Washington is the same as Hitler marching into Poland is laughable. But the Democrats are so addicted to hyperbole, they don’t even hear how absurd they sound anymore.
Tlaib’s rant wasn’t just embarrassing—it was batshit crazy. And Byron Donalds obliterated it.

Jasmine Crockett, new voice of Democrat Party
The Racist Haters are Democrats
It must be exhausting being a Democrat these days—especially if your job is to chase down Black conservatives and call them names when they get too successful.Just ask Jasmine Crockett, the Texas Congresswoman whose strategy to “debate” Rep. Byron Donalds was to skip the debate entirely, then run to a liberal talk show and attack his marriage.
Yes, really.
When you can’t win on policy or facts—when your ideas are emptier than Joe Biden’s teleprompter—you do what desperate people do: go personal. And in Jasmine’s case, that meant launching a racially charged insult at Byron Donalds for being married to a white woman.
Because nothing says “tolerant and progressive” like shaming a Black man for his interracial marriage in 2025.

Trump suggested that using the National Guard and possibly the military against “the enemy from within” if they are to cause chaos on Election Day during an Oct. 14 interview on Fox News.Acosta pressed Donalds on whether it is acceptable for Trump to accuse some prominent Democrats, namely California Reps. Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff, are enemies from within.
“I know that Adam Schiff when he was chairman of the Intelligence Committee was leaking information to the press that was classified information, supposed to be held in the skiff. This is why then-Speaker [Kevin] McCarthy kicked Schiff off of the Intelligence Committee," said Donalds.

George Stephanopoulos interviews Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla
Trump calls him "George Slopadopolus"
Trump sues him for defamation
In March, Donald Trump sued ABC, ABC News and host George Stephanopoulos, claiming comments made by Stephanopoulos during a recent interview were defamatory.During a March 10 interview with Nancy Mace regarding E. Jeanne Carroll, Stephanopoulos said, "Judges and two separate juries have found him liable for rape," among other references to Trump being "found liable for rape."
Trump was NOT convicted of rape of E. Jeanne Carroll.
So, you can see Stephanopoulos on Fake News ABC why he holds a grudge against Trump. And the nit-picking continues with Democrats.
