Scum in our City

Saucy business cards guide customers to The Brothel Next Door

The CBS12 News I-Team has been looking into a prostitution ring that works like a fast-food franchise, with locations all over Palm Beach County.

There are 40 to 50 women doing business in houses in Lake Worth Beach and West Palm Beach. Many are local, others travel from Central Florida, other states - even foreign countries. The women make their own schedules, do a few days’ work for cash and go home.

According to the source, drugs also move through the houses, protected by armed guards and lookouts.

To attract customers and recruit women, promoters go to the two flea markets in Palm Beach County popular with minority communities. One by the Lake Worth Tri-rail station. The other at the old drive-in movie theater.

Former Lake Worth Police officer awarded $7.1 million in lawsuit

Jury awards former Lake Worth police officer $7.1 million in breach of contract case

'Having to fight your employer for your rights, I never felt like I retired,' Joseph Viera, who served with Lake Worth police, told WPBF 25 News.

Viera was responding to an emergency call back in 2001 when his life turned upside down.

"There was ... a woman that was in distress. She was being attacked by two men wielding a knife. And on his way to the call, he got T-boned by a car, which resulted in career-ending injuries," said Daniel Lustig, an attorney at Pike & Lustig.

"Most of my spine has been fused. I’ve got severe nerve damage. My spinal cord was damaged, my neck was fractured, both hips, both knees, my shoulder. I’ve got paralysis in areas of my body," Viera said.

The city of Lake Worth declared him catastrophically injured in 2001 but they didn't want to pay him all his benefits that were owed to him.

But guess what??!! WPBF 25 News reached out to the city of Lake Worth Beach for a comment in response to the $7.1 million verdict, and the city manager sent this statement below.
"The City of Lake Worth Beach respects the Jury's decision in the case with Joseph Viera. At this time, the City plans to appeal the decision and as such will be offering no further comment on this matter."

Our Lake Worth Beach Pool

Lake Worth Beach takes steps to resurrect municipal pool

Staff to determine cost to replace pool that closed in 2016

The city of Lake Worth Beach is taking steps to resurrect the Lake Worth Municipal Swimming Pool.

City commissioners on Tuesday voted 4-1, McVoy dissenting, to come up with all the particulars. He wanted a more interesting design that would attract all our residents as well as tourists. The cost was also a factor with the Vice Mayor. We have no idea what this will cost or how we will pay for it but the price tag of $16 million has been thrown around.

"It's probably the best real estate probably in Palm Beach County, so we are fully intent on bringing it back and making it really special," Commissioner Reinaldo Diaz said.

No one seems to want an Olympic Pool these days. Even Wes Blackman doesn't want a pool at the beach which is actually the best place for a pool.

Our old pool--

SUMMARY:
CPZ Architects, Inc. and Chris Zimmerman President and AIA was selected on October 12, 2017 to provide professional services for the Lake Worth Beach Complex Design Phase for replacement of the pool at the Beach Complex. The City Commission will engage in further discussion of the programs and the proposed conceptual design.

A After reviewing CPZ’s notes from their one-on-one discussions with the Mayor and Commissioners, staff was able to determine the common concepts, programs/activities, and elements of the pool features. Thief steals packages off porch at a Lake Worth Beach home

Caught on camera: Alleged porch pirate steals prescription medication in Lake Worth Beach

I hate a thief more than any other loser. There is a good photo of him so perhaps he will be caught.

Ring doorbell camera video has caught an accused porch pirate hitting a house in Lake Worth Beach, not only snatching Amazon packages but also the homeowner's prescription medication.

Video shows what appears to be a man in a hat and sunglasses pacing back and forth on private property in the Mango Groves area, in front of Daenon Gualt-Vasconez's home.

And then next thing you know takes our packages and it was unfortunate because it was prescription medication in one of them,” Gualt-Vasconez said.
