Michael Caruso was arrested today
Palm Beach County Clerk of Court Michael "Mike" Caruso was arrested and suspended from office on August 18, 2026, on criminal charges related to child sexual abuse.Following the arrest, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued an official order suspending Caruso from his duties as Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller.
Arrest Details: The Arres--The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and local police agencies arrested Caruso early in the morning. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier initially announced the arrest. State authorities have indicated that the criminal investigation is ongoing.
The Palm Beach County Clerk's Office released a statement confirming that services and daily operations will continue uninterrupted. Executive leadership plans to manage the staff of roughly 650 employees while awaiting next steps from the Governor’s office.
Governor DeSantis originally appointed Caruso to the clerk position in August 2025. His Legislative Career prior to his appointment, served as a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2018 to 2025.
2026 Election: Caruso is running uncontested in the Republican primary, meaning his name is not on the ballot, but he remains scheduled for the general.

Not sure if the nitty gritty has been published as yet but it is shocking never-the-less. Hard to believe.
This is a bitter pill for our Governor to swallow and is bound to influence his judgement going forward. It's a horrible story.
He is accused of sexually assaulting his grandson.
As a Florida legislator he voted for a law to put pedophiles to death. Isn't it ironic? But it's par for the course.
Why would this influence Ron DeSantis' judgment going forward? If this outrageous allegation from a 4 year old is true, everyone believed that Caruso was an upstanding guy. No one would tolerate a pedophile and Caruso will certainly will not influence DeSantis' in other decisions or appointments. Everyone is in shock right now.

The governor has issues anyway I've written to him he never writes back he says he's going to do something about the expensive property taxes but still nothing has been done now we have to pay another year of high property taxes he needs to write back to his constituents. I've lost all respect for him I wrote to President Trump and he wrote me right back really wonderful letter. But DeSantis is really disappointing he's a real let down!
I wouldn't vote for DeSantis for president now at all because when you write to him he doesn't write you back.
Remember Mark Foley. Palm Beach Republicans are really something.
@8:38...as it turned out, Foley eventually admitted that he was Gay and got into these situations because of his sexual preference.
Rubio never returned letters either, when he was Senator!
