Rudy Giuliani, the 81-year-old former New York City mayor who became a national symbol of resolve after the September 11 attacks, is recovering from pneumonia at a Florida hospital after a health crisis his spokesman directly tied to lung damage sustained at Ground Zero nearly a quarter-century ago.

Spokesman Ted Goodman told Fox News Digital on Monday that Giuliani required mechanical ventilation after a virus overwhelmed his body, but that he is now breathing on his own. Giuliani remains in critical but stable condition and is being monitored as a precautionary measure.

The former mayor, once dubbed "America's Mayor" for his leadership on the worst day in modern American history, is now paying a physical price for the very act that defined his public life: running toward the Twin Towers while thousands fled.

Goodman laid out the medical chain of events in a statement also posted to X. He said Giuliani suffers from restrictive airway disease, a diagnosis that resulted from his exposure to the toxic dust and debris that blanketed Lower Manhattan after the towers collapsed on September 11, 2001.

"On September 11, Mayor Giuliani ran toward the towers to help those in need, which led to a restrictive airway disease diagnosis. This disease adds complications to any emerging respiratory issue, and the virus quickly overwhelmed his body, requiring mechanical ventilation to maintain his blood pressure."

Vivek Ramaswamy, the 2024 GOP presidential candidate, responded to CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins  in a Tuesday post on social media.

The comment was in response to a Monday interview.

“Hilarious interview with CNN last night,” Ramaswamy wrote in his post. “Felt like I was talking to a petulant teenager.”

Collins told Vivek that he said that 9/11 was an inside job. He said he was misquoted.

“What I said is on Jan. 6, I do believe that there were many federal agents in the field, and we deserve to know who they are,” Ramaswamy said on CNN’s “The Source,” per The Hill.

“On 9/11, what I’ve said is that the government lied — and this is incontrovertible evidence, Kaitlan — the government lied about Saudi Arabia’s involvement.”

Why is the U.S. silent about this?

A 130-page FBI report written only last July lays out the numerous connections of U.S.-based “personnel and entities controlled by the Saudi Arabian government” to the al Qaeda terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

It’s the first time since the public learned of the existence of a secret investigation into the Saudis’ role in 9/11 – code-named Operation Encore – that the Justice Department has declassified records previously declared to be “state secrets” that say Saudi government officials knowingly provided a support network for the first two al Qaeda hijackers to enter the U.S.

The new report lays out what it calls the FBI’s “investigations and supporting documentation” regarding the religious “militant network that was created, funded directed and supported by the KSA [Kingdom of Saudi Arabia] and its affiliated organizations and diplomatic personnel within the U.S.”

That network, as described in the report, was intertwined with the hijackers.

The docments tell us that one of the men who helped two of the September 11 hijackers settle in the United States as they prepared to carry out their attack was in fact a spy for the Saudi government — a government long accused of supporting and financing fundamentalist extremists and the country where the vast majority of the hijackers came from. That spy was paid by and reported directly to the longtime Saudi ambassador to the United States, a close and long-standing family friend of president Bush.

I have often wondered through the years if I ran into some who did our country harm and ended up killing nearly 3,000 people and bringing down the World Trade Center. The thought has never left me.
