Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and the sheriff's office are responding to a fire in Lake Worth Beach on Tuesday morning that is blocking off South K Street.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue investigating residential fire in Lake Worth Beach

On Saturday at 8:26 p.m., fire rescue responded to the 1900 block of High Ridge Road in Lake Worth Beach for a reported residential structure fire.

When fire rescue units arrived at the scene, they observed black smoke from the rear of the structure.

The fire was extinguished without issue, and no injuries were reported. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue investigators responded to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire. [WBPF]

A house caught fire Sunday evening on North E Street

The fire ignited just after 6 p.m.

When crews first arrived, smoke was showing from the eaves of the single-story home, according to fire officials. Crew were able to quickly extinguish the fire with water, then vertically ventilated to remove smoke and hot gases from inside the home.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

High-rise senior living fire deemed accidental, local church aids displaced residents

New details were released regarding a fire at an 11-story senior living facility in Lake Worth Beach that left one person hospitalized.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue told CBS12 News on Wednesday night that at around 8:40 p.m. crews responded to Lake Worth Towers after receiving calls about a high-rise structure fire. PBCFR says 911 callers said there was a smoke detector alarm going off on the 10th floor.

PBCFR said someone was trapped inside the affected unit, and one person was rescued by firefighters from the burning apartment. The resident was taken to the hospital for treatment.

PBCFR said more than 80 firefighters responded to the call and fire investigators determined that the fire was "accidental in nature."

Mercedes-Benz S550 catches fire in parking garage of condominium building

An arson investigator responded to a Lake Worth Beach condominium building early Wednesday morning after a Mercedes-Benz caught fire, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said.

Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, said deputies arrived at the Alora Condominiums, located in the 10 block of South Palmway, at approximately 3:15 a.m.

Road in front of Casino closed for 3 days

Road in front of the Lake Worth Beach Casino to close this week for huge firefighter competition

The challenge outside of the Lake Worth Beach Casino Building is part of an event taking place all week at Palm Beach State College's nearby campus. All competitions are free and open to the public.

The road closure starts at 8 a.m. Tuesday to allow for equipment setup, and the competition is scheduled throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday. A city spokesperson said the road is expected to reopen before Friday morning.

That includes the stretch of road from the pool building to Benny's on the Beach Oceanwalk (not the pier location). The restaurant and its neighbors — including Kilwins, Mamma Mia's Pizzeria, and Lake Worth Beach Tee Shirt Co. — will remain open, and visitors can still reach the upper parking lot by using the south access ramp.

The two-day event outside of the Casino Building will feature a team competition that highlights the firefighters' rapid intervention skills. Each team will be graded and timed as they work to rescue one of their "downed" peers, according to the rulebook." [Palm Beach Post}

Three people taken to hospital following open water incident in Lake Worth Beach

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — An open water incident was reported on Thursday evening.

Around 6 p.m., units with the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) received reports that two juveniles were having troubles while swimming under the Lake Worth Pier.

On scene, they saw a total of three patients on shore.

According to fire rescue, they were taken by three separate rescue units to area hospitals.

No further information was released due to HIPPA Laws.

The city is doing something nice for our first responders--

The City of Lake Worth will salute first responders on Sunday, Sept. 11 with a series of special, honorary discounts at the City’s Casino Building and Beach Complex, located at 10 South Ocean Blvd., in Lake Worth.

Firefighters, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, police and lifeguards will be recognized with free pool entrance at the City’s Municipal Pool during regular hours of operation, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Restaurants and shop discounts offered to first responders throughout the day at the City’s Beach Complex, include: Various generous discounts at Benny’s on the Beach, the Lake Worth Beach Tee Shirt Company, Mulligan’s Beach Bar, and Italian Ice on the house at Mama Mia’s Pizza.
