That’s not surprising since John McCain was always closer to Abigail Spanberger than real Republicans.

She resigned from Pence's homeland security and COVID task force team in July 2020. Within weeks she was endorsing Joe Biden and cutting anti-Trump ads for a Never-Trumper political action committee.

By 2024 she was on the Democrat National Convention stage, telling her "fellow Republicans" that voting for Harris wasn't betraying their party – it was standing up for their country.

On November 21, 2025, Alito issued an administrative stay, ensuring the disputed boundaries remain in play while the Supreme Court mulls over the case, giving GOP candidates a fighting chance as challenges mount, The Daily Caller reported.

Earlier this year, Texas Republicans, nudged by former President Donald Trump, redrew the state’s congressional map.

Just days ago, on November 18, a federal panel in the Western District of Texas, by a tight 2-1 vote, declared the map likely a racial gerrymander, striking it down and igniting a firestorm.

Governor Greg Abbott wasn’t about to let that stand, filing an emergency appeal to the Supreme Court on Friday evening, pushing for clarity before the candidate filing deadline on December 8.

"California has been in the news recently because it’s going to have an unusual redistricting effort. That means we’re going to redraw the maps of our 52 congressional seats.

And we’re gonna do that, according to our governor, because Texas has been doing that. And California Gov. Gavin Newsom is running for president in 2028, so he wants to show that he is on the cutting edge of Democratic opposition to Texas.

But there’s a problem. Texas doesn’t have an independent commission—not that they’re really independent, but in theory, they are. They just gerrymander. And Texas has an underrepresentation of Republicans in congressional seats.

Bottom line: Here is Gavin Newsom using four-letter words, expletives, boasting that he is going to attack President Donald Trump by spending a quarter-billion dollars to even make the notorious California congressional election map even more unfair, like 8% Republican, as a reply to Texas, even though California votes 38% to 40% Republican.”

Texas House Dems to Return Home

The Texas House Democrats who abandoned their state in protest of the Republican-led redistricting effort will return home after Gov. Greg Abbott (R) took “emergency action” to begin removing the absent legislators as they refused to show up for work.

Multiple sources revealed the news to ABC13 on Tuesday, though the exact date the Democrats will return to the state capitol in Austin was not confirmed.

The state House had only 95 members present for the second day in a row on Tuesday, with Speaker Dustin Burrows (R) predicting that the session will end and a new one will start assuming there is no quorum on Friday, the outlet noted.

Senate Democrats did not break quorum, though they did storm out of the chamber in protest as their Republican counterparts passed the new redistricting map.

The deadline for them to go back to Austin was last Friday afternoon, prompting Abbott to file a suit with the Texas Supreme Court this week to quickly “make clear the authority I have” to remove the legislators from their offices, Breitbart News reported.

NY Appeals Court Shuts Down New Congressional Map Designed to ‘Favor Democrats

With upcoming elections, cities and states are finalizing and submitting their congressional redistricting maps.

But in New York, an appellate court found that the 2022 congressional map illegally favored Democrats, The Hill reported.

The court ruled that the districts were “drawn to discourage competition.” The court then gave the state until the end of the month to draw a new map.

Jonathan Turley, a prominent constitutional expert is warning that Democrats are giving in to the "temptation" of "rigging elections" in their attempt to keep the majority of the U.S. House in this fall's elections.

The party that does not control the White House, in this case Republicans, usually raises its representation in the House by dozens of seats during midterm elections such as this year.

But Democrats hold a majority now only by a handful of seats, making it likely that they will lose the majority in the fall.

In their schemes to maintain control, according to Jonathan Turley, a constitutional expert and the Shapiro Professor of Public Interest Law at George Washington University, they are following "Oscar Wilde’s rule that 'the only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it.'"
