This week, video journalist Nicholas Ballasy pressed Green on what still fills him with pride as the country prepares to mark 250 years of independence.

Green did not mention the Founding Fathers. He did not mention the flag, the Constitution, or the 250 years of history Americans are celebrating this weekend.

"I am very proud to tell you that impeachment is an option to remove a reckless, ruthless, lawless president," Green said. "I'm proud to know that that exists."

Green is not some backbencher venting on his way out the door. He is the same congressman who filed impeachment articles against Trump in June 2025 over the strikes on Iran's nuclear sites, only to watch the House table it 344 to 79 with 128 of his own Democrats voting against him.

He tried again in December 2025, forcing a privileged floor vote accusing Trump of being "an abuser of presidential power." That one died too, tabled 237 to 140, with 47 Democrats too embarrassed to even vote against tabling it and 23 Democrats joining every Republican to kill it outright.

Green has now failed to impeach Trump at least five separate times since Trump retook office.

In Texas, plaintiff-aligned groups are funding candidates and PACs to weaken reforms the state legislature has implemented, TCCRI argues.

New lesson standards, including those about Islam's violence, are pending for public school students in Texas.

Not all of the plans have been made final yet, but the state, in fact, is poised to require lessons on the basic beliefs of the Bible in public schools as well as lessons drawing connections "to Islam and violence," according to a report at the Post Millennial.

The changes are coming from the Texas Board of Education.

The report revealed, "The social studies proposal would mandate schools to teach Bible lessons and other literary works to students as young as six years old until they graduate from high school. This includes the Parable of the Prodigal Son, the eight Beatitudes, and the Christian story of Adam and Eve."

Further, "the board gave preliminary approval on Wednesday for middle and high school students to be taught lesson plans that draw connections between Islam and violence. Dallas Morning News reported that one approved provision would ask students to examine Islam through the Prophet Mohammed's brutal military campaigns," the report said.

Antifa Leader Benjamin Song Gets 100 Years for Texas ICE Attack

Eight of the ten people convicted in the Texas attack on a federal immigration detention center learned their sentences on Tuesday, and the punishments were steep. Benjamin Song, identified by prosecutors as the group’s leader, received 100 years in prison.

The case stems from the July 4, 2025, attack on the Prairieland ICE detention center in Alvarado, Texas. Prosecutors said the group came prepared, fired off fireworks, vandalized property, and shot at police officers who responded. One officer was struck in the neck with a bullet and survived.

According to the sentencing breakdown reported Tuesday, Maricela Rueda received 70 years. Autumn Hill received 50 years, along with Zachary Evetts, Savanna Batten, Meagan Morris, and Elizabeth Soto. Daniel Rolando Sanchez-Estrada was sentenced to 30 years.

The defendants were convicted earlier this year on a wide range of charges, including riot-related offenses, providing material support to terrorists, conspiracy to use and carry an explosive, using and carrying an explosive, attempted murder of an officer, discharging a firearm during a violent crime, and charges tied to concealing documents. In March, a jury found nine Antifa members guilty after a 12-day trial in federal court.

A 35-year-old Texas parole supervisor lost her job with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after posting inflammatory statements on Facebook about the family of Austin Metcalf, the 17-year-old fatally stabbed at a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas, in April 2025.

Donna Murray Robinson, a Houston native who identified herself on social media as a parole supervisor with TDCJ, wrote that she did not care about the Metcalf family's grief, and openly celebrated the teenager's death along racial lines. The posts surfaced after Karmelo Anthony, 19, was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison for the stabbing.

Robinson's bosses caught wind of the posts, and the department fired her, a TDCJ spokesperson told the Dallas Morning News. The agency did not equivocate. It said her words disqualified her from the work she was paid to do.

Screenshots of Robinson's now-deleted Facebook account, obtained by the Daily Mail and reported by the New York Post, show a series of statements that went far beyond any defensible opinion about the case. Robinson wrote:

• "I for one don't give a f** about the family's loss."
• "It's about time these f***ing [sic] bigots feel the pain that they have inflicted on other groups of people since the beginning of time!"
• "I'm just glad we didn't have to bury another black child. Let them start burying some of theirs for a change. F***'em [sic] I said what I said."
• Robinson also claimed Anthony would be "protected" by fellow inmates in prison.

She did not respond to requests for comment from either the Dallas Morning News or the Daily Mail.

At least 200 federal immigration agents are being sent to a border town in Texas where illegal border crossings have spiked amid the Trump administration’s claims the U.S.-Mexico border is secure.

The 200 agents otherwise assigned to the country’s northern and southern borders will be deployed to Laredo for 30 days to assist local Border Patrol employees who are dealing with a significant increase in immigrants attempting to enter the country illegally from Mexico each day.

NewsNation sources also say the surge in federal agents will include those from Customs and Border Protection’s BORTAC unit, a special operations group often brought in to assist with field operations.

Department of Homeland Security data obtained exclusively by NewsNation shows there were 2,600 encounters between federal agents and migrants in the Laredo Sector in March and April — a 50% increase from the previous two months. The 1,400 reported encounters in Laredo this month represent an 86% spike from April 2025, DHS reported.

Sources tell NewsNation that the Trump administration plans to expand the border wall through Laredo, but the city has pushed back on the expansion. City officials have expressed concerns about the wall running through residential areas of Laredo and eliminating river views for residents there.
