Two years of silence later, Helen Comperatore agreed to sit down and answer one question. What she told a national reporter about what she thinks went down in Butler should finally land someone in Washington, DC on the hot seat.Helen Comperatore sat across from NewsNation's Rich McHugh this week, two years to the anniversary of the day her husband died. She did not hedge."I believe it was an inside job, inside the government somewhere," she said.
McHugh asked her directly whether she thought the attack was political. She did not pause before answering. Comperatore says Thomas Matthew Crooks never climbed onto that rooftop alone in his own head.
She believes someone helped plan it and has never faced a single consequence. Her husband, a Butler County volunteer fire chief, threw himself over his wife and daughters when Crooks opened fire from 150 yards away.

Crooks fired eight rounds, grazed Trump's ear, wounded two others, and died in seconds under a Secret Service counter-sniper's rifle.
None of that explains why Comperatore had to wait a full year for the Secret Service to sit down with her, or why the agency still has not answered her most basic questions.
A Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee investigation later confirmed her instincts about the agency were not paranoia. Investigators tallied 102 separate local radio transmissions that day about a man spotted on the roof with a rangefinder. The Secret Service received five calls and three texts.
