Jasmine Crockett Went on TV to Demand Your Respect and Said Something That Made the Whole Country Laugh

Jasmine Crockett just lost a Senate primary to a lesser-known state legislator her own base was supposed to steamroll. Now she's on daytime television demanding that Americans stop disrespecting her.

What she said on camera to justify that demand is the part nobody can stop talking about.

Crockett appeared on The Sherri Show this week to discuss her viral moments in Congress – the screaming matches, the insults, the headlines – and to explain why she keeps getting treated the way she does. Her answer was something else.

"I'm a Black woman in America," Crockett told host Sherri Shepherd. "Some people are just like, 'Oh, but you're a congresswoman.' I'm a Black woman first."

Then came the part that stopped the internet cold.

"I am one of the 535 most powerful people in this country," Crockett said. "And for some reason you think we on the same level, but you don't disrespect me. Like it's not gonna happen."

Let that land for a second. A woman who just lost a Senate primary – outraised, outorganized, and beaten by seven points – is on television declaring herself among the most powerful people alive.

Instead of the Rachel Scott, ABC reporter, leading off the meeting by welcoming him (they did invite him to this convention of Black Journalists) and asking how he was feeling after being shot, she, instead, asked him about comments she believed he made and were "racist."

"You have used words like 'animal' and 'rabid' to describe black district attorneys. (It just so happened they were Black like Alvin Bragg, Fani Willis and Letitia James...Trump would have described them the same way if they were White) You've attacked black journalists, calling them a 'loser,' saying the questions that they are asking are, quote, 'stupid and racist.' You've had dinner with a white supremacist at your Mar-a-Lago resort. (Kanye West was invited to Mar-A-Lago and brought a friend, Nick Fuentes with him. Trump did not invite him nor did he know anything about him...the reporter should have known that). So, my question, sir, now that you are asking black supporters to vote for you, why should black voters trust you after you have used language like that?" said ABC News correspondent Rachel Scott.

Trump responded, "Well, first of all, I don't think I've ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner. The first question. You don't even say, 'Hello, how are you?'"

"Are you with ABC?" Trump asked the reporter. "Because I think they're a fake news network. A terrible network."

The former president's response elicited a boisterous reaction from the audience.

In a truly surprising turn of events, a federal judge in Georgia ordered the creation of several new congressional districts that are majority black.

Judge Steve Jones, who was appointed to the bench by Barack Obama, ordered the state legislature to throw out the current election maps and instead redraw the maps so that a total of eight electoral districts (which are currently majority white) can be flipped to instead be majority black.

And, of course, since this is the year 2023, it’s all being done under the banner of “anti-racism.” Fani Willis will be happy.
