Birth tourism refers to a foreign national traveling to another country to give birth there in a bid to allow the child to gain citizenship of that country. The Trump administration attempted to end birthright citizenship through an executive order last year, which was challenged in court and later blocked by multiple judges.

Describing birth tourism as “an insidious practice,” State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott told Newsmax’s National Report that officials are “seeing this be a global phenomenon, and we’re seeing these networks that are profiting, trying to essentially sell U.S. citizenship.”

He said this includes “by advertising a world they say is without borders or automatic citizenship, disguising themselves as healthcare services when in reality it is the insidious practice with birth tourism, and then on top of defrauding consular offices to get that visa, they then coach these people to defraud the American people when they’re here, and leave taxpayers footing the bill for their medical expenses.”

Announcing the Birth Tourism Prevention Task Force earlier in August, the Department of State said that it would use all its resources to “defend the integrity of U.S. citizenship, ensure nonimmigrant visas are used only for their lawful and intended purposes, and prevent their exploitation through birth tourism.”

“When that task force was announced, the secretary (Marco Rubio) noted that we had revoked over 600 visas,” Pigott added during Thursday’s interview. “I can now say that we are at nearly 900 visas revoked since this task force was launched.”

Indiana Republican Jim Banks introduced the Citizenship Act on Monday. The bill strips automatic citizenship from the children of illegal aliens and birth tourists by legally classifying their parents as invaders.

That word choice is not an accident. Banks is pulling straight from Trump's own executive order, the one that declared the southern border crisis an invasion on Day One of his second term.

The Supreme Court struck that order down on June 30 in Trump v. Barbara, ruling that it violated the 14th Amendment's Citizenship Clause. Chief Justice John Roberts leaned on the 1898 case Wong Kim Ark to write the majority opinion.

Banks just picked up that same 128-year-old ruling and turned it into the foundation of his bill. Wong Kim Ark carved out exceptions to birthright citizenship for children of foreign invaders, diplomats, and occupying armies.

Following a 6-3 Supreme Court ruling that citizenship eligibility requires either a constitutional amendment or an act of Congress, lawmakers such as Sen. Jim Banks and Rep. John McGuire introduced these bills in mid-July 2026 to bypass the constitutional requirement via federal statute.

The bill classifies individuals who enter the country without authorization or for "birth tourism" as invaders, preventing their US-born children from receiving automatic citizenship.

Banks is betting Congress can now define illegal aliens as exactly that...invaders.

Starting January 1, 2027, Florida requires officials to verify whether a prospective voter provided proof of citizenship when applying for a driver’s license or state ID card. If not, the person must provide proof of citizenship to be registered to vote. Documents acceptable as proof of citizenship include:

(a) An original or certified copy of a United States birth certificate.

Noncitizen in Minnesota faces felony charges after voting in 2024 election and calling it a 'mistake'

A 39-year-old man in Minnesota was charged Monday with perjury and a voting violation after authorities said records showed he registered to vote in 2023 and then submitted a ballot in the 2024 election, despite not being a United States citizen.

Mukeshkumar Somabhai Chaudhari initially denied voting when investigators confronted him, Fox News Digital reported, but later admitted to casting a ballot and told them he "made a mistake."

The case lands in the middle of a national argument over how well states guard their voter rolls against illegal participation. Minnesota officials insist their system works. Critics say the state's own policies made this kind of breach predictable.

Chaudhari faces serious consequences. The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State told Fox News Digital that penalties for voting while ineligible may include deportation, a permanent bar on future citizenship, a fine of up to $10,000, and up to five years in prison.

For a man reportedly in the middle of a green card process, the felony charges could end more than just a legal case, they could end his ability to remain in the country.

Florida Senate Backs Election Bill Tightening Voter Registration Rules

The Florida Senate on Thursday approved an elections bill that would require citizenship verification for voter registration, restrict some forms of voter identification at polling places and delay most of the changes until 2027, sending the measure back to the House for final action.

HB 991 passed the Senate by a 27-12 vote after senators adopted a delete-all amendment that replaced the House bill with the Senate’s version of the measure, adding proof-of-citizenship document requirements for voter registration, creating an “unverified voter” category, requiring provisional ballots for voters whose citizenship cannot be confirmed, revising online registration procedures and delaying most of the changes until Jan. 1, 2027.

The amendment also requires Florida driver licenses and state identification cards issued to U.S. citizens to carry a legal-status designation by July 1, 2027. The House previously passed the bill 83-31 on Feb. 25, and must now concur in the Senate changes before the measure can go to Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The bill would require people registering to vote to swear or affirm that they reviewed the registration instructions, are U.S. citizens and understand the penalties for providing false information.

It would also require an applicant’s citizenship status to be verified through records maintained by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. If citizenship cannot be confirmed, the applicant would be designated an “unverified voter.”

President Donald Trump has said he will withhold his signature from other legislation until Congress passes the SAVE America Act

which would impose nationwide proof-of-citizenship requirements in order to register to vote

“It must be done immediately. It supersedes everything else. MUST GO TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE,” Trump wrote in a March 8 post on Truth Social. “I, as President, will not sign other Bills until this is passed.”

The measure—formally titled the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act—would require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. It would also require voters to present valid photo identification at the polls or submit a copy of an ID when voting by mail.

The House passed the bill last month, but it is short of the 60-vote majority needed to avoid a filibuster in the Senate. Republicans, who hold a 53–47 majority in the upper chamber, would need support from Democrats, who oppose the package.

Trump’s ultimatum could add renewed pressure on Senate Republicans to consider procedural workarounds.

That's right, true to form and keeping on-brand, the Democrats have been caught stealing again.

More specifically, they have robbed Republicans of 18 seats in the United States House of Representatives by counting non-citizens in the U.S. Census.

This is expressly why Joe Biden, Barack Obama (the man behind the curtain making the Corpse of Biden dance) engineered the illegal entry of 12-20 million illegal aliens in his disastrous four-year run.

Federal law currently bases House seat apportionment on total population instead of citizenship, meaning illegal aliens and other non-citizens are included in the numbers used to allocate seats and Electoral College votes.

This system has shifted dozens of House seats over time, redistributing political power toward states with larger non-citizen populations. Republican legislators have warned that counting illegals “destroys equal representation” and gives disproportionate influence to states that give them "sanctuary." But congress has done nothing to fix it.

The right to representation belongs to American citizens, not foreign nationals who have no legal right to vote.

Until Congress ends this insanity and ensures only citizens are counted for purposes of representation, the voice of every lawful American voter will remain muted by a system that rewards illegal presence and effectively cancels out citizenship. [Strictly Speaking]

Attorney General Catherine Hanaway filed a lawsuit aiming to stop the Census Bureau from including illegal aliens in the apportionment numbers that decide congressional seats and Electoral College votes.

She is asking the court for a full recount to correct what she calls an unconstitutional policy that shifts political power away from law abiding states like Missouri.

A senior Trump immigration official said he's "declaring war on fraud" by making the United States citizenship test more difficult because the current version is "just too easy."

Speaking at an event hosted by the Center for Immigration Studies think tank in Washington, D.C., Thursday, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edlow said that the citizenship test needs to demonstrate the applicant's "attachment to the Constitution."

"Simply put, I want to see the naturalization process returned to where I believe it should have been … based on what the Congress has said, based on what the statute says."

We're looking for actual understanding and ability to read and speak and write the English language; and, frankly, this test is just too easy. Six out of 10 questions right now is what people have to get right," he added.

Tougher Citizenship Test From 1st Trump Admin to Be Restored

President Donald Trump's administration is moving to reinstate a more rigorous version of the U.S. citizenship test, with officials stating that the current version is too easy and fails to reflect the significance of American naturalization adequately, The Hill reported.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is preparing to roll out changes to the naturalization test, a shift that will restore tougher requirements introduced during President Trump's first term.

Newly appointed USCIS Director Joseph Edlow described the existing exam as insufficiently challenging and in need of reform.

Currently, the test includes an English proficiency evaluation and a civics portion. Applicants must answer six of 10 randomly selected questions correctly from a collection of 100.

Edlow indicated that the administration plans to revert to the 2020 version of the test, which increased the question bank to 128 and raised the number of correct answers required to 12 out of 20. In addition, the updated format would include a new speaking component designed to assess English fluency through visual prompts.

As the U.S. House votes to pass the SAVE Act, legislatures nationwide are addressing election administration in their states.

On April 10, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 220-208 to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act (H.R.22). According to the Congressional Research Service's (CRS) summary, the bill "prohibits states from accepting and processing an application to register to vote in a federal election unless the applicant presents documentary proof of U.S. citizenship.”

Meanwhile, state legislatures in Kansas, Iowa, Virginia, and West Virginia have acted on recent bills on election administration:

• On April 10, the Kansas Legislature overrode Gov. Laura Kelly's (D) veto of SB5, a bill prohibiting the use of federal funds for election-related activities in the state. On March 25, the legislature overrode Kelly's veto of SB4, a bill that changes the deadline for county election officers to receive mail-in ballots.
• On April 7, the Iowa Senate approved HF954, a bill that would allow poll workers to challenge voters' citizenship, ban ranked-choice voting, and require political parties to receive at least 2% of the vote in three consecutive general elections to be considered a major political party. The bill now heads to Gov. Kim Reynolds' (R) desk.
• On April 2, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) vetoed 15 bills on election administration. For a closer look at each bill, click here.
• On April 7, the West Virginia House of Delegates approved a bill requiring municipalities to hold their elections on the same day as state elections. Legislators passed SB50 by a 96 to 2 vote, and the bill now returns to the Senate to consider House amendments.

CR was rejected in a 202 to 220 vote, with 14 Republicans voting against it.

On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced that he will move forward with a bipartisan funding bill to avert a potential government shutdown, as House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) struggled to pass a six-month stopgap measure tied to voter registration reforms.

With government funding set to expire on September 30, Schumer stated that the Senate may need to take the lead on advancing a funding measure, despite the usual protocol where spending bills originate in the House.

“Later today, I’ll file cloture on a legislative vehicle that will enable us to prevent a Trump shutdown,” Schumer said, referencing former President Trump’s push for stricter voter registration rules as a condition for avoiding the shutdown.

Johnson’s proposed funding plan, which included a requirement for proof of citizenship to register to vote, failed in the House with 14 Republicans joining Democrats to block the measure.

The New York Post reports that if enacted, state election officials will be required to ask about citizenship prior to providing voter registration forms – a requirement currently not in place for federal voting forms. The Act would also permit state officials to accept various documents to simplify citizens’ registration for federal elections.

While non-citizen voting is already illegal in Federal elections—subjecting violators to imprisonment and fines—there are claims suggesting the contrary. U.S. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), the sponsor of the legislation, cites plentiful evidence of non-citizen voting in federal elections.
