New documentary presents Britain’s immigration crisis as a warning for America

“The Immigration Crisis That Will Destroy the West,” produced in partnership with The Heritage Foundation, examines how mass migration has transformed British communities and asks whether the U.S. is heading down the same path.

A new documentary examining the scale and consequences of mass migration on Western countries is scheduled to premiere Sept. 17.

The film, titled “The Immigration Crisis That Will Destroy The West,” was produced by Nick Freitas, a former Virginia state delegate, Army Green Beret combat veteran, and conservative commentator. Presented in partnership with The Heritage Foundation, it will be released on X, YouTube, and Facebook.

Walking through London’s Whitechapel neighborhood, Freitas opens the documentary’s trailer with a question: “Where am I?”

“Because I recognize this place,” he says, recalling his military training in Bangladesh. “It’s just the place I recognize isn’t supposed to be here.”

The documentary examines how decades of legal and illegal immigration have changed Britain and argues that the country’s experience should serve as a warning to the U.S.

Its trailer, released Sept. 15, moves from the streets of London to interviews about crime, demographic change, cultural integration, and whether political leaders have avoided addressing public concerns.

"Stop Nick Shirley Act"

Newsom signs bill critics call the 'Stop Nick Shirley Act,' threatening fines and jail for exposing nonprofit immigration workers

California's governor signed a law that could punish anyone who posts information or images of nonprofit immigration workers with fines up to $50,000 and prison time, and critics say it was written to silence one independent journalist.

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 2624 into law on Saturday, expanding the state's "Safe at Home" program to cover employees of nonprofits that help people navigate the U.S. immigration system.

The bill, introduced in February by Assemblywoman Mia Bonta, an Alameda Democrat, penalizes anyone who distributes or posts information or images of immigration workers in a way that "incites violence or threats." Violators face fines ranging from $10,000 to $50,000, plus sentences from one year in county jail to state prison time.

Republican Assemblyman Carl DeMaio of San Diego coined the nickname that stuck: the "Stop Nick Shirley Act." The bill, he argued, is meant to intimidate people "trying to shine light on bad behavior." The law does not take effect until October 1, 2027, by which point Newsom, limited by term limits, will no longer hold office.

Terry Schanz, chief of staff to Democratic Assemblywoman Tina McKinnor, interrupted Shirley while he was conducting an interview outside the Capitol. Schanz held up a printed flyer and, according to reporting attributed to the New York Post, made a crude public statement about the journalist:

"Did you guys hear that Nick Shirley has a small penis allegedly?"

Schanz earns $17,319 per month in taxpayer-funded compensation. Multiple complaints were filed against him with the legislature's human resources department following the incident. The content of those complaints and the identity of the filers have not been disclosed.

When the government's response to embarrassing journalism is not a rebuttal but a criminal statute, the problem is not the journalist.

Eric Schmitt Releases Biden Memo on Last-Minute TPS Push for 3 Million Illegals

According to Schmitt, Republican Senator from Misouri, the January 2025 memo discussed expanding TPS to cover more than 3 million people. The memo reportedly listed about 1.5 million Guatemalans, 600,000 Ecuadorians, 464,000 Nicaraguans, and 455,000 Venezuelans as still eligible for the program.

It also referenced populations from Ukraine, Sudan, and Afghanistan who could potentially receive protection.

The timing is the key issue here. This was during Biden’s final stretch in office, after voters had already chosen President Trump to return to the White House on a platform that included tougher immigration enforcement.

Republicans argue the memo shows Biden officials were looking for ways to lock in protections before Trump could act.

“After the American people voted for President Trump’s promise to end the TPS scam, the Biden administration tried to subvert the will of the American people. This was mass amnesty-by-decree. America is for Americans, and it is our home—it is not a permanent refugee camp,” Schmitt added.

Moreno revives Harry Reid's 1993 immigration bill to force Democrats' hand on birthright citizenship

Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, plans to circulate legislation that mirrors, nearly word for word, a 1993 bill introduced by the late Sen. Harry Reid, the Nevada Democrat who went on to become Senate Majority Leader and one of the most powerful figures in his party.

The move is designed to put today's Democrats in an uncomfortable position: vote against a bill authored by their own icon, or concede ground on birthright citizenship, legal immigration caps, and faster deportations.

Fox News Digital first obtained the forthcoming bill, which Moreno described as "a mirror image of Reid's initial offering from 1993." The package is sweeping. It would restrict birthright citizenship, cut legal immigration substantially, cap refugee admissions at 50,000 per year, and speed up deportations with limited court review.

The timing is no accident. The Supreme Court recently ruled on birthright citizenship, interpreting the Fourteenth Amendment's "subject to the jurisdiction of" clause in a way that effectively grants automatic citizenship to all children born on U.S. soil.

Moreno's bill responds directly to that ruling, and uses Reid's own three-decade-old language to do it.

A Lake Worth bakery owner is in federal custody after Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested him in what the agency is calling a targeted immigration operation — and his family, coworkers, and community members are pushing back on ICE's characterization of the man.

The arrest of Jacob Zapeta Castro happened at a Guatemalan bakery on Lucerne Avenue, just over the train tracks in Lake Worth Beach, on a day that employees say started like any other.

ICE says Zapeta Castro is "a criminal illegal alien from Guatemala who has been removed from the United States four times and has an extensive criminal history including illegal re-entry after deportation, multiple DUI arrests, hit and run, and resisting law enforcement."

According to ICE, officers encountered a vehicle associated with Zapeta Castro around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. When they attempted to stop him, the agency says he tried to ram an ICE vehicle, then got out, fled, and barricaded himself inside the bakery.

Democrats unravel after Supreme Court upholds Trump's authority to end Haitian TPS protections

The Supreme Court handed the Trump administration three 6-3 victories on immigration Thursday, and the Democratic response arrived within minutes, loud, emotional, and revealing.

Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus rushed to the microphones to denounce the rulings, accuse the justices of white supremacy, and recast hundreds of thousands of Temporary Protected Status holders as "American families", a rhetorical sleight of hand that tells you everything about where the left stands on the distinction between legal and temporary.

1. The most consequential of the three decisions, Mullin v. Doe, confirmed that the Trump administration can end TPS for roughly 350,000 Haitians and 6,100 Syrians living in the United States, overturning lower federal court orders that had blocked the termination.
2. A second ruling, Mullin v. Al Otro Lado, clarified that a migrant who has not physically set foot on U.S. soil is not entitled to apply for asylum and does not have to be inspected by an immigration officer.
3.  A third, Blanche v. Muk Choi Lau, will make it easier for the Department of Homeland Security to deport green card holders convicted of crimes.

All three decisions came down on the same 6-3 margin. All three restored executive authority that lower courts had stripped away. And all three drew the same furious reaction from Democrats who have spent years treating temporary immigration protections as permanent entitlements.

The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that border officers can place lawful permanent residents on immigration parole, opening an easier path to deportation, based on a mere accusation of criminal conduct, without meeting a higher evidentiary standard. The 6-3 decision sided with the Trump administration and affirmed broad executive authority over green card holders returning from travel abroad.

The case centered on Muk Choi Lau, a lawful permanent resident who was flagged by an immigration officer in 2012 when he returned from a short trip to China. Lau had been accused of a counterfeiting crime. Rather than readmitting him as a returning resident, the officer placed him on immigration parole, a classification that stripped away procedural protections and gave the Department of Homeland Security a faster route to remove him from the country.

Lau later pleaded guilty to selling counterfeit clothes in New Jersey. But the legal fight was never really about the counterfeiting conviction. It was about what standard the government must meet before a conviction, at the border, in real time, to reclassify a green card holder and set deportation proceedings in motion. The Court answered: not much.

Justice Clarence Thomas, writing for the six-justice majority, framed the question narrowly. As the Associated Press reported, Thomas wrote:

"Border officers did not have the burden to establish by clear and convincing evidence that Lau had committed a crime involving moral turpitude."

That single sentence resolved the dispute. Lau had argued the immigration officer overstepped by placing him on parole without meeting the "clear and convincing evidence" threshold, a standard typically required before the government can strip someone of significant legal rights. The majority rejected that argument outright.

House Republicans muscled a nearly $70 billion immigration enforcement funding bill to President Donald Trump's desk on Tuesday, clearing the chamber on a 214-212 vote that required near-total party unity and zero Democratic support.

Senate Republicans advance $72 billion immigration bill after scrapping White House ballroom funds

Senate Republicans voted Wednesday to move forward with a massive reconciliation package funding the Department of Homeland Security's immigration agencies, clearing a key procedural hurdle on a 53-to-46 party-line vote after weeks of intraparty friction over a controversial Justice Department fund and a billion-dollar Secret Service line item that included money for a White House ballroom renovation.

The vote sets up a marathon amendment session, the dreaded "vote-a-rama", that could stretch into Thursday, with Democrats vowing to force Republicans into difficult votes on the DOJ fund and other provisions they oppose.

But the real story is what Republicans had to strip out of the bill to get here, and what remains unresolved even after the acting attorney general told Congress the disputed fund is dead.

A revised version of one section of the package, released Wednesday, dropped language that would have provided $1 billion in security funding for the Secret Service. That line item had drawn scrutiny because it included money for President Trump's planned East Wing renovation, where he intends to build a large ballroom.

The original $72 billion package, unveiled last month by Republicans on the Senate Judiciary and Homeland Security committees, funds DHS immigration agencies through fiscal year 2029. Republicans have moved it through the budget reconciliation process, which sidesteps the 60-vote threshold required to advance most legislation in the Senate.

That procedural path is the only realistic route for a Republican-only bill in a chamber where Democrats have spent months opposing funding for immigration enforcement agencies.

The Trump administration is moving to further accelerate its deportation agenda by significantly expanding the nation’s immigration court system, according to a report from The Daily Wire.

In its latest effort, the Department of Justice announced Thursday that it has hired 82 immigration judges — the largest single-year class in agency history. The additions bring the total number of immigration judges in the United States to nearly 700.

“The Trump administration is committed to reestablishing an immigration judge corps that is dedicated to restoring the rule [of] law in our nation’s immigration system,” Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement.

“Today, we are onboarding the largest immigration judge class in agency history,” Blanche added. “This could only happen thanks to President Trump’s decisive leadership and commitment to securing our borders. I also applaud EOIR’s leadership team for helping facilitate these hiring efforts and recruiting highly qualified and talented personnel in record time.”

The incoming class consists of 77 permanent judges and five temporary appointments.

Senate Democrats used a funding fight to try to gut immigration enforcement

Three House Democrats defy Jeffries, vote with Republicans to fund DHS and immigration enforcement

Three House Democrats broke ranks with Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on Friday and voted to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol.

Reps. Henry Cuellar of Texas, Don Davis of North Carolina, and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington joined 209 House Republicans and independent Rep. Kevin Kiley of California in backing Speaker Mike Johnson's 60-day funding patch.

According to the Washington Examiner, the vote handed Johnson a key win after a weeks-long shutdown fight over immigration enforcement, and it exposed a crack in the Democratic wall that Jeffries has been working to hold together.

The reason for the crack is simple: the Democratic position is untenable, and a few of their members finally admitted it. Defunding Border Patrol isn't a winning hand.
