NC Democrat candidate wants Trump supporters in Concentration Camps

North Carolina Democrat candidate posted from concentration camp ovens: 'This is where Trump supporters belong'

A Democratic state legislative candidate in North Carolina posted a photo of herself smiling in front of crematorium ovens at the Dachau concentration camp memorial in Germany, writing that "this is where Trump supporters belong."

Shelly Headen, a CPA and business owner running for a state House seat in a suburban Guilford County district, shared the image on her Facebook story. The post showed her standing before what appear to be the ovens once used by the Nazi SS to burn the bodies of Jews and other prisoners who died or were murdered at the camp, a site where, by the memorial's own account, 41,500 people perished. Over the image, Headen wrote:

"Visiting Dauchau [sic] Concentration Camp in Germany... This is where Trump supporters belong."

Headen's Facebook page describes her as "running to restore human decency." She is challenging incumbent Republican state Rep. John Blust.

The Guilford County Democratic Party stands firmly for decency, mutual respect, and the core values of our community. We unequivocally reject and condemn the social media posts made by Shelly Headen. Effective immediately, the County Democratic Party is formally withdrawing all financial, operational, and organizational support from Shelly Headen’s campaign for NC House District 62. We will not expend party resources or volunteer efforts on behalf of her candidacy.
