US, China Announce Reciprocal Tariff Reduction Plan for $30 Billion in Goods
The proposal covers goods from each country, while Washington and Beijing also announced agreements on Iran and technology talks. The United States and China announced a tariff reduction plan of $30 billion in goods from each country following the Chinese leader’s state visit to Washington, covering non-sensitive goods.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed the agreement in a statement on Saturday, following the release of a fact sheet from the White House the day before.
The announcements came after talks between President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping produced common positions on Iran’s nuclear program and international waterway tolls, along with plans for a dialogue on risks and benefits related to artificial intelligence.
Xi departed on Sept. 25 after a visit that included a military welcome, bilateral talks, and a state dinner. Before leaving, Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, joined Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for tea and a visit to the National Archives. “A lot of very positive things happened,” Trump told reporters during the tea meeting.
The two leaders “discussed fostering peace and prosperity to enhance confidence for businesses and consumers around the world,” the White House said, adding that the United States and China would pursue “a constructive relationship of strategic stability.”
Both leaders agreed that Iran must not have nuclear weapons and that no country or institution should impose tolls on international waterways, according to the readouts from both countries.

You forgot this part, Lynn...
President Donald Trump has asked Chinese President Xi Jinping if he wanted to buy weapons from the United States, the U.S. ambassador to China said.
Maybe Trump will want to help arm Russia next?
We would never sell weapons to the enemy...and that inludes Russia. It was Trump's humor again.
Afraid not, Lynn.
David Perdue said Trump raised the prospect of the arms sales from the U.S. to its ascendant geopolitical rival, an unlikely offer that if consummated would upend generations of U.S. policy toward China and Taiwan and expose U.S. technology to a potential foe. Perdue, speaking to Shannon Bream on Fox News Channel’s “Fox News Sunday” days after Trump hosted Xi for a state visit in Washington, didn’t specify when the offer was made.
But the State Department on Monday looked to distance the Trump administration from Perdue’s comments, saying that “U.S. law prohibits arms sales to China and there is no offer or plan to sell arms to China.”
Afraid not, what? Shannon Bream, Trump' favorite at Fox...sarcasm. This is something that would never happen in a million years. It is so absurd.
"Afraid not" It wasn't humor. There is no reporting that he was joking.
But I'm glad you recognize it as "absurd." Americans have been recognizing a lot of what Trump has been doing as absurd for a while now.
It's absurd because he didn't say it...Perdue said it.
Wait. First you said it was "Trump humor."
Now the reason is Perdue is lying (or being sarcastic) that Trump said it. Why would he do that and why hasn't Trump corrected him? It's a pretty absurd statement, right?
The entire thing is absurd.
Now he's denying it...of course.
President Trump on Monday denied talking about selling U.S. weapons with Chinese President Xi Jinping, but added that China would “probably like to buy it.”
Trump took questions from reporters about his recent meeting with Xi and was asked about U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue’s remark on Sunday that Trump proposed selling weapons to China.
“I never heard of that one,” Trump said. “I don’t have to ask him. You mean we’re going to sell? No, they’d probably like to buy it because we do make better equipment than that, so maybe it’s a good idea. But we didn’t discuss. He may have been talking about Taiwan. I think he probably was talking about that.”
Anti-Trumpers really need to fly away somewhere.
