DHS Approves ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ for Illegal Aliens in Florida

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) approved an immigrant detention center in Florida, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz,” to be built, according to a report from the New York Times.

As Breitbart News reported, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier initially pitched the idea to turn the “virtually abandoned Miami-Dade Collier Training Facility” into a detention center to house illegal aliens, which would be guarded by alligators and pythons:

“I think this is the best one. I call it ‘Alligator Alcatraz.’ This 30 square mile area is completely surrounded by the Everglades — presents an efficient, low cost opportunity to build a temporary detention facility because you don’t need to invest that much in the perimeter,” he said. If detainees were to escape, “there’s not much waiting for them other than alligators and pythons.”

Per the New York Times, the facility would be “composed of large tents, and other planned facilities will cost the state around $450 million a year to run.”

“These new facilities will in large part be funded by FEMA’s Shelter and Services Program, which the Biden administration used as a piggy bank to spend hundreds of millions of American taxpayer dollars to house illegal aliens, including at the Roosevelt Hotel that served as a Tren de Aragua base of operations and was used to shelter Laken Riley’s killer,” said Kristi Noem.

'Alligator Alcatraz' proposed by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier to house Illegals

WPTV has reported this year on the overcrowded conditions at the Krome North Processing Center in Miami-Dade County, described by a nonprofit as "hellish," as federal authorities continue the deportation of undocumented immigrants.

Now, Florida's attorney general believes he has an idea that could help the state carry out President Donald Trump's "mass deportation agenda."

In a Thursday afternoon post on X, Attorney General James Uthmeier called for the construction of a detention facility in the Everglades that he labeled "Alligator Alcatraz."

Uthmeier said the "virtually abandoned" Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport, located in the Big Cypress Wildlife Management Area, is 39 square miles with a 10,500-foot runway.

Uthmeier said Gov. Ron DeSantis tasked state leaders to identify places for new temporary detention facilities.

Found in Lake Worth Beach, Dog Brady had leg amputated

Vets believe stray dog found badly injured in Lake Worth Beach may have been bitten by gator

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — A dog is on a long road to recovery after a good Samaritan found him with a brutal injury in Lake Worth Beach.

Veterinarians said they believe the stray dog, named Brady, may have been bitten by an alligator.

“It was an extremely severe injury. It’s one of the worst that I have personally ever seen,” said Dr. Victoria Koehler, medical director of the organization Furry Friends.

Koehler believe Brady was suffering for several days before someone found the dog near a canal last week near Lake Worth Road and Congress Avenue.

The veterinarian said the canine’s front legs had catastrophic damage.

“And that wound had been there for quite some time. It was – the tissue was dead, there was bone exposed,” said Koehler.

The person who found Brady took him to Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control in West Palm Beach.

‘Nuisance’ gator? Better think again

Your article, “A nuisance gator may be closer than you think” (Monday), indicated the drawbacks of alligators but not their benefits.

Alligators are our defense against invasive species such as pythons, iguanas and monitor lizards. Alligators and crocodiles are the top predators in the Everglades ecosystem. If we remove them, we will open the door to these other invasive species. While alligators may seem threatening, they are far less threatening than pythons. Alligators are much more visible in the environment. Pythons and boa constrictors are harder to see and could be more dangerous in the future. They are also harder to control.

Alligators are not a nuisance; they are a benefit. We have moved into their environment. They were there before us. If we follow simple rules of not feeding them and keeping a close watch near water such as ponds, lakes and canals, we can all be safe. We can enjoy alligators from a safe distance.
If we remove the alligators from our areas we could end up with much more dangerous predators that we cannot see and not control.

Disney now is installing signs warning people of alligators.

Here in John Prince Park, Palm Beach County has had alligator warning signs forever. It always amazes me how people get out there and ski knowing there are alligators in Lake Osborne.

They say that alligators are more afraid of us than we are of them.  As alligators feed mostly at night, our park posts signs that say they are closed from dusk to dawn.

We have to remember, as calm and serene as the lake appears, there is a danger--alligators. Palm Beach County has now erected signs around the lake alerting people to the alligator population. It is always amazing to me when I see little kids being pulled on a raft behind a boat.

Now, this is the photo I would have loved to have taken, or for that matter, had the guts to take. It reminded me of Alligator Hunting Season that runs from June 13 through August 15.

So, all of you blood thirsty people over 18 years of age who just love to kill something, hurry on down to Palm Beach County and get your permit that will cost $272 if you are a resident. We even have idiots who come from out of State. Their license costs $1,022. Let's sock it to those tourists. You will be allowed to kill two alligators but in designated areas so don't come to Lake Osborne where this photo was taken.
