Biden Boots Legendary Lee Greenwood from National Council on the Arts, Introduces His Own Nominees

You have to laugh, really.

The singer, whose signature song “God Bless the U.S.A.” has been played at patriotic events ever since Greenwood penned the anthem in 1984, said he was surprised that he was ousted from the panel, having been first appointed by former President George W. Bush.

“So, hearing now under the Biden administration and he’s cleaned house and finally he’s fired a patriot. I was quite shocked to tell you the truth. I didn’t get a phone call or letter. It was just an email”

We all know it has everything to do with Trump as this was his signature song at all of his rallies. Biden's goal is to cancel Trump in every way possible...ain't gonna happen, Joe. Someone is giving Joe very bad advice on all fronts.

LAKE WORTH COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY AWARDED $72,000 GRANT FROM PALM BEACH COUNTY SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY

Lake Worth, FL; February 11, 2016 - The Lake Worth Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is excited to announce that our agency was recently awarded a $72,000 grant from the Palm Beach County Solid Waste Authority (SWA).

The funding is courtesy of SWA's Blighted and Distressed Property Grant Program. The Lake Worth CRA was one of seven applications approved by the SWA Board of Commissioners this past week. This grant is intended to assist in the cleanup and beautification of distressed, blighted or otherwise impacted properties within both the unincorporated and incorporated areas of Palm Beach County. This grant is offered as an incentive to improve the quality of the life and provide a safer, healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the residents.

The CRA applied for this grant to further improve and enhance the exterior of the Lake Worth Arts Center located at 1121 Lucerne Ave. in downtown Lake Worth. Funds from the SWA grant will be used to:
•    create a safe outdoors experience for our resident artists and visitors by adding decorative fencing
•    removal of an obsolete irrigation system
•    removal of old/dead plants along the perimeter of the building
•    replacement of former plantings with new drought resistant, low maintenance ground covering
•    decorative fencing/screening between the property and the railroad right-of-way to promote safety
•    new garbage bin enclosures

Last year, the CRA invested over $150,000 in new interior improvements to this City owned property courtesy of funding from the State of Florida.The CRA Board and Staff are extremely appreciative that the SWA reviewed and approved our grant application.

Bidding and procurement of services for these new exterior improvements will begin this spring. Concrete Night is a dream-like odyssey through beautiful Helsinki over the course of one night. The protagonist of the film is a 14-year-old boy named Simo who is still searching for a sense of self and the ability to protect himself from his surroundings. He lacks his own identity. Simo and his big brother Ilkka are the sons of a helpless and unpredictable single mother. Their chaotic home is located deep in the heart of a concrete jungle in Helsinki. Ilkka has one day of freedom left before starting his prison sentence. The mother persuades Simo to spend the last night with his brother. During the course of the day and night spent roaming around Helsinki, the brothers witness incidents they would rather not see. Vulnerable Simo is not equipped to justify what he sees or delude himself - seeing things accurately as they are. To him, the unfiltered world seems unbearable.

ATLANTIS, FL — The Atlantis Country Club showcases the work of 20 local artists at a juried Arts and Crafts Show and Sale on Thursday, November 13, from 4 p.m.– 8 p.m.

The CRA was given our Shuffleboard court building for $1 a year that in turn leased it out to the Armory Art Center for $10 a year.  This little scheme (talk about schemers) was all about government grants. It failed to attract students and closed for awhile. It wants to lease studio space at $400 to $450 a month to artists and is now reopening once again offering classes with reduced fees.  Read about it at The Shiny Sheet

If you recall regarding the shuffleboard court building and this lease, taxpayers pay for all utilities: water, gas, electricity, cable, trash collection and removal and anything else you can think of.  This commission acts like we're a wealthy city...just giving away buildings for a buck a year to whomever asks. We know better because they just spent $50,000 of taxpayer money blitzing the taxpayers to death educating us on their need to raise taxes to pay for $63.5 million for road repairs.

Joah Oliva, Director of the CRA, is optimistic--
The CRA says if the Armory does not renew its lease then the CRA will look for another arts-related tenant. “We believe there is a need. If not the Armory, it will suit somebody. But we’re hoping the Armory has a lot of success there,” said Olivia.

I liked this movie even though it is getting poor reviews. People are overly critical in today's world. I like any message that tells the tale that the good guys win over evil. It was full of action and never a dull moment with 61 year old Pierce Brosnan in a great role. He still has what it takes.

It shows the world for what it is...sometimes even those for whom you think are your friends, aren't.

Last night around 7:30 under a perfect sky there was excitement in the parking lot behind the Gulfstream Hotel as a technical film crew, actors and extras began to arrive for the making of a movie at our city’s most historic location! Some of you recall when the movie Body Heat was filmed in Lake Worth some thirty years ago.

Permits and police presence were all in place as the actors and extras in costume for this film in the horror genre (sans anything naughty) went from the front entrance to the second floor for makeup touch up and registration.

The filming went well into the night and at 12:30 a.m. a huge ‘Midnight Sun’ type vehicle could still be seen idling in front of the hotel. What fun!

We leased the shuffleboard court property to the CRA for a dollar because we can't and won't take care of our property and then the CRA turns right around and sub-leases it out. Of course they had to have the permission of the city to do that but that's never a problem.  When it comes to city owned buildings, this government has NO quandary when dishing out our facilities to non-profits who come along especially the CRA or the

Our shuffleboard court property is sub-leased by the CRA to the Armory Art Center, that has accomplished some wonderful things at its West Palm Beach facility, with the goal of making this space "active in order to improve the social, economic and cultural conditions of Lake Worth's community through meaningful, quality arts programming." (Didn't we just lease the building at 1105 2nd Avenue South (FEC) for the very same thing?) Residents already told them they wanted our courts resurfaced so that they could use them again, carrying on nearly 100 years of tradition. They didn't listen. Why would they? That's not something elected officials do, is it?

Usually when people start giving away or assigning their assets, they are preparing for their eventual demise. I love the arts as much as the next person but it seems that the city is on a downward slope with no plausible explanation for their give-aways other than developing the city as an artists' destination which in truth is all about grant money.  They are selling their soul and our properties for a buck and in turn want you to tie yourselves up for thirty years of debt to fix the potholes and replace sewer pipes in College Park.

That's Lake Worth's and the CRA's story (an entity that has control of over half our city), and they're sticking to it.

The amazing thing about Lake Worth is that it continues to "lease" out/give away our city owned property for $1 a year or negligible amounts and then they cry "poverty."

This was a project by Annamaria Windisch-Hunt, local artist, who through her art contacts, invited people to participate in Lake Worth's Centennial Celebration by sending mail art of decorated envelopes, all received at city Hall. She has coordinated the mail art as an exhibit now displayed at our Lake Worth Museum located in the City Annex building at 414 Lucerne Avenue, Lake Worth. The mail art is of various mediums and techniques painted by all age groups and people from many countries congratulating Lake Worth for its 100 years.

Filmmaker Dave Janetta and his latest intriquing film

A documentary film by my 2nd cousin, Dave Janetta. One review says, "The center of intrigue is where a well liked professor disappeared one night. Months later his scorched corpse was found bound to a tree on the outskirts of town past a very dense pathway. That mystery is the primary hook. It’s the surrounding elements that make the movie sing."

Dave Jannetta is the founder of 32-20 Productions, a Philadelphia-based production company covering the full spectrum of film and video production with a focus on telling quality stories of all shapes and sizes. Dave has worked closely with Poe Ballantine to turn his story Love and Terror on the Howling Plains of Nowhere into a documentary movie.

Spamalot at the Lake Worth Playhouse

One more week for this brilliantly chaotic, completely absurd musical comedy starring Michael Cartwright (his first appearance at our Playhouse) as King Arthur and Mary Grace Tesoriero as Lady of the Lake.  What voices these two have.  The entire cast was superb in every way.  Also Jason Leadingham whose real job is pastor of New Hope Fellowship Church in West Palm Beach is getting better and better with each appearance at the Lake Worth Playhouse.

Go see this play--you will love it!

• Open containers of alcohol allowed but must be sold by the Festival.

Affidavit of applicant for special sales license:

I understand THIS LICENSE Does NOT PERMIT the Sale of Alcoholic Beverages FOR CONSUMPTION on PREMISES and ONLY ALLOWS Package Sales in SEALED CONTAINERS...Swear under Oath or Affirmation under penalty of PERJURY... Authorized agents or employees of the Division of Alcohol Beverages and Tobacco, the Sheriff, his deputies and police officers can search and inspect the location during the festival for the purpose of determining compliance with the alcoholic beverage laws and no search warrant is needed. ??

• Sheriff services are authorized by the City of Lake Worth and the PBSO submits bills at the current extra-duty permit hourly rate and paid by the city.

• The City of Lake Worth has insured the Street Painting Festival for liability up to $1 million and $3 million in the aggregate. Medical expenses are excluded (don't get this) so don't fall down drunk on our city street. You will have to sue the city personally. FDOT is the certificate holder.

• The Street Painting Festival is the only entity that will receive profits from the sale of alcoholic beverages by their permit. In 2011, the Street Painting Festival made $234,868, not including expenses, which took up most of the profits. This is a huge endeavor to bring art awareness to Lake Worth and to make so little.

• The Street Painting Festival is exempt from any taxes

• The Festival did not have to pay an application fee nor did they have to pay for a permit.

• The city is providing dumpster trash service and use of electricity.

• There will be 15 carts and booths and all profits go to the Street Painting Festival, Inc.

• Public benefit is promoting the arts.

• Set-up for the event started at 6:30am yesterday and the break-down is 10pm Sunday.

• This year's theme is Movies

• Free trolley at the Tri-Rail station during the event

• 10am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday in the heart of downtown Lake Worth
