Lake Worth Playhouse gets $1 million Endowmant gift
A Historic Milestone for the Lake Worth Playhouse
"Today, we're excited to share one of the most significant moments in the history of the Lake Worth Playhouse. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of an anonymous donor, the Playhouse has received a transformational $1 million endowment gift—an investment that will help ensure the future of live theatre in our community for generations to come.
This permanent endowment will provide long-term support for:
• Main Stage productions
• Preservation and improvements to our historic theatre
• Youth education and outreach programs
• The continued growth of the Lake Worth Playhouse
As Executive Director Shoshana Davidowitz shared:
"This extraordinary gift strengthens our foundation and allows us to look toward the future with unprecedented stability. As we continue to serve as a cultural anchor for Lake Worth Beach, this endowment ensures that future generations will always have a place to experience the magic of live theatre."
While this generous gift marks a remarkable milestone, the story doesn't end here. An endowment is designed to grow over time, and additional contributions are welcomed to help expand its impact and strengthen the future of the Playhouse for generations to come.
Whether you've attended a performance, volunteered your time, donated, or simply cheered us on, you are part of this story. Thank you for helping make the Lake Worth Playhouse a place where creativity, connection, and community continue to thrive.

Lunch in downtown Lake Worth Beach next Sunday and then off to the Playhouse with Katie to see the last play of the season, Matilda, that runs through April 19.
It's a musical about a little girl who stands up to bullies, specifically the intimidating Miss Trunchbull, proving that intelligence and courage can overcome injustice.
A Story of Brains and Magic: The show centers on a young, neglected girl who, despite her circumstances, finds joy in reading, storytelling, and ultimately discovers she has extraordinary telekinetic powers.
The Power of Storytelling: Matilda uses her imagination and intelligence to change her own destiny and protect others, taking control of a life previously dominated by neglectful parents and a hostile school environment.

Narrated by the “Stage Manager”, we follow the Gibbs and Webb families, residents of Grover’s Corners, through twelve years of life and its changes. Wilder delivers universal truths about what it means to be human. With humor, wit, and exceptionally powerful storytelling, Our Town offers a unique opportunity for audience members to make precisely that realization.

Little Shop of Horrors
Lake Worth Playhouse
Katie and I are at the Playhouse today to see this musical comedy:Meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” - after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down-and-out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out-of-this-world origins and intent towards global domination!
A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.
One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows, Little Shop of Horrors, this charmingly tongue-in-cheek musical comedy has delighted audiences worldwide.

At the Lake Worth Playhouse today
ABOUT THE SHOW:
A scheming producer and his mousy accountant aim to produce the biggest flop on Broadway in Mel Brooks’ laugh-out-loud spectacle. Bialystock and Bloom! Those names should strike terror and hysteria in anyone familiar with Mel Brooks’ classic cult comedy film. Now, as a big musical, The Producers once again sets the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face humor. It is a truly “boffo” hit, winning a record twelve Tony Awards and wowing capacity crowds night after night.
With a truly hysterical book co-written by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan (Annie) and music and lyrics by Mr. Brooks, The Producers skewers Broadway traditions and takes no prisoners as it proudly proclaims itself an “equal opportunity offender!”

Lake Worth Playhouse today
Come to the Lake Worth Playhouse in Lake Worth Beach to see the first third of Neil Simon’s bittersweet, semi-autobiographical trilogy.
It is 1937 and Simon lives with his family in this coming-of-age story in a crowded, lower middle-class Brooklyn walk-up.
Matinees start at 2 p.m. and evening performances start at 8 p.m. The play runs Nov. 22 -Dec. 1 and is approximately two hours long including a 15 minute intermission.
Part one of Neil Simon’s autobiographical trilogy: a portrait of the writer as a young teen in 1937 living with his family in a crowded, lower middle-class Brooklyn walk-up. Eugene Jerome, standing in for the author, is the narrator and central character.
Dreaming of baseball and girls, Eugene must cope with the mundane existence of his family life in Brooklyn: formidable mother, overworked father, and his worldly older brother Stanley. Throw into the mix his widowed Aunt Blanche, her two young (but rapidly aging) daughters and you have a recipe for hilarity, served up Simon-style.
This bittersweet memoir evocatively captures the life of a struggling Jewish household where, as his father states “if you didn’t have a problem, you wouldn’t be living here.”
