Earth First to produce a Musical in Lake Worth?

Comment Up

It looks like the City of Lake Worth will be inhabited by a environmental group, Earth First, that will be producing a musical. One side of politics in this city is apparently worried and wondering what the true intent is.

Pastor Mike Olive of Common Ground Church will give invocation at City Commission Meeting

Comment Up

Not only did the city use the wrong date of the city commission meeting on its web site (Jan 6 when it should read Jan 5), apparently the Invocation as printed is in error as well:

2. INVOCATION OR MOMENT OF SILENCE: Offered by Pastor Kris Vos, Sunlight Community
Church, on behalf of Mayor Pam Triolo. This is incorrect and the city has now corrected the name of the invocation pastor.

Jihad already in America

Per the Jewish Voice, "If you're up to date on Islamic terror in this country you know that CAIR is a HAMAS and Muslim Brotherhood associated organization that was named in 2007 and 2008 by the U.S. government as a co-conspirator in the raising of millions of dollars for HAMAS. Put two and two together and we come to the conclusion that a major leader of CAIR-HAMAS, Sheriff's Deputy Hamze, is responsible for your safety. That should raise a few hairs on your heads as well as a few questions that must be addressed."
Nezar Hamze
BSO deputy but also a former Executive Director of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Florida and currently that organization's state Regional Operations Director.

His personal message:

"I am very happy to be back home in South Florida, How the life has changed for us as a community over the last 30 years. South Florida has one of the most diverse Muslim communities in the United States. We have Muslims from all corners of the world that have emigrated here to make this home. As Muslims we are taught the fundamentals on how to live our life in peace. We are taught how to believe and worship Allah SWT. We are taught how to treat our families with respect and dignity. We are also taught how to deal with society and live in peace. If we seek the knowledge that Allah SWT has given us, we can live peacefully in this life and Insha’Allah be among the winners in the next.

Allah SWT has blessed me with this opportunity to serve the Muslim community of South Florida. As the Executive Director of CAIR South Florida it is my job to protect your civil rights and serve the Muslim community. The United States of America also gives us rights. We as Muslims have the right to practice Islam without fear of discrimination or retaliation. We as Muslims have the right to raise our children according to Islam without interference. We as Muslims have the right to participate in the governing of our society. And most importantly, we as Muslims have the right to live in peace.

I want to make a commitment to all the Muslims, Islamic Centers, Islamic Schools, Islamic Organizations, and to my fellow Americans.

I will stand with you if you stand with me!
I will protect you if you will protect me!
I will be patient with you if you are patient with me!
I will seek Justice with you if you seek Justice with me!
I will live in peace with our neighbors, live in peace with me!

Remember we are of one nation. We are all the sons and daughters of Prophet Adam PBUH. We are Muslim, we all believe in Allah SWT and the Prophet Mohammed PBUH! The time has come to stand as ONE Muslim community and contribute to the success of this nation and show the character, integrity, piety, and devotion that Muslims have.

Insha’Allah, I look forward to meeting and serving all of you!"

Sharia Unveiled where Obama said we would be a Muslim country by 2016.

Realizing that all you liberals who have drunk the KoolAid when it comes to Obama probably will not see anything alarming in all of this, but the fact remains that the Muslim community is growing rapidly in our country. It is estimated that we could have 12 million Muslims here right now.  With Obama depositing Syrian and other Mid-East countries' refugees, the number continues to grow.

Dearborn, Michigan is situated in a land that is governed by the U.S. Constitution but now a city where Sharia Law holds sway. Why your vote is so important in electing your leaders, the city council of Dearborn, Michigan now with a Muslim majority, voted 4-3 to became the first US city to officially implement all aspects of Sharia Law. Muslims have literally taken over that city. And this is their plan--to be an integral part of our democracy but their heart lies with the Quran and Allah and we are all infidels.

Dorsey Holiday Party

Comment Up

Each room was prettier than the other but I especially like the formal dining room at the home of Dennis & Doris Dorsey who had their annual Holiday Party last night. Food was fabulous as well as the champagne!

All the challengers for Lake Worth commission and mayor were in attendance who gave us their reasons for running. Lake Worth's own Drew Martin, running for Shelley Vana's Palm Beach County Commission seat, spoke as well. They were each given two minutes to introduce themselves, the same time allotted by the current commission at city hall commission meetings.

Throughout the evening, we had an opportunity to meet with them one-on-one. As one person said to me, "All of them are 'real' people."

Quote of the Day - Chris Cabrera - Illegal Migration to America

“It’s an admission of defeat that this is what we should accept. I don’t accept it. This should not be the new normal, and we need to secure this area.”

~ Chris Cabrera
Vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, the union for Border Patrol agents

Talking about the new surge of illegals from Central America who are crossing the Texas border and who tell us they are facing violence and poverty. The U.S. government is detaining families for less time, releasing them in three weeks or less to pursue their asylum claims in immigration court, the new normal of the Obama administration. In the meantime, we house and feed all of them and they're coming in droves. Read the Daily Signal for the rest of the story.

Read what Bernie Sanders has to say about illegals; he is part of the problem.

"The mainstream media, whenever it actually mentions the number of illegal aliens living in the United States, categorically quotes the official government figure of 8-12 million. This number originated with the Department of Homeland Security, which in December 2003 estimated 8 million to 12 million illegal aliens resided in the United States and that 700,000 new illegals enter each year and remain in the country.

As of 2014, those estimates have not changed for eleven years, even though the official annual increase alone would yield a corrected estimate of 15.7 million to 19.7 million illegal aliens today (not adjusting for Obama's unconstitutional 2014 executive amnesty)." West Palm Beach removes benches to help expunge Homeless

Comment Up

In the past few years, Alan Murphy, Jr., Pioneer Linens' store’s general manager, has noticed a disturbing trend on the city’s hippest street — more homeless people in front of his luxury shop, causing some customers to shun his 103-year-old business.  West Palm Beach is removing the benches.

Does this sound familiar? Maybe they will come down to Lake Worth since we took such a beating from them when benches and water fountains were removed from Bryant Park. Or maybe government can start solving the problem, which has become overwhelming, a lot due to addiction that is on the rise. But then you have a segment of the liberal population that supports legalizing marijuana that is a gateway drug.

Rubio gets Gowdy Endorsement

I wanted you to be the first to know why I'm voting for Marco Rubio for President.

Marco is a rock solid conservative and a leader we can trust. He is someone we can count on in Washington to stand true to his word. And I know from experience: that is hard to find in Washington.

This race is not going to be easy. All eyes are on Marco's campaign, and he needs our support right now more than ever. The outcome of this election is going to come down to every dollar donated, which is why your donation is so urgent.

Marco's campaign has set a goal to activate 10,000 donors before New Year's Eve, and they will only get there if you stand with him right now.

STAND WITH MARCO & TREY
BECOME A 2015 DONOR RIGHT NOW

2016 is around the corner. The steps we take today will determine what happens next fall. We cannot afford to waste another second -- we must ensure Marco Rubio becomes our nation's next president.

Sincerely,

Trey Gowdy

P.S. As President, Marco will stand true to all of our conservative values and fight for our beliefs. I look forward to campaigning in Iowa with Marco, and across the country. I hope we will see you out on the campaign trail in the near future.

Lake Worth Citizens on Patrol

Comment Up

We have a hell of a lot of crime in our city, crime that this commission never wants to tell us about...it would probably scare the bejesus out of you. Those commissioners running for office are getting a little stupid lately trying to blame former commissions and even the dreaded anarchists (a handful of people) for our current problems. Their support "rag" does the exact same thing. The Blame Game is always used when people have no solutions and are hiding their heads in the sand.

You want to know why businesses or possible buyers might shy away from Lake Worth as an investment? Crime is the answer. And no matter how anyone tries to hide the facts of the matter, we have a lot of problems.

Captain Todd Baer has a vision to help make Lake Worth a safer place and it starts with every resident.

Over the next year, he would like to grow the Sheriff’s volunteer program, Citizens on Patrol.  While the program has existed in a few neighborhoods, (two residents in my community are in the C.O.P. program with a few down the street from Murry Hills), Baer envisions a city-wide effort.  He would also like to educate all residents about “Making the Call” about suspicious behavior.

For all you able bodied residents who love our city, you might want to be a C.O.P. Lake Worth needs you.

New Year's Message from City Manager Michael Bornstein

Comment Up

“One City”

Aside from the Mayor and Commissioners, I am the only other person in our community who is immersed on a daily basis in all the difficult problems we face as a City. While we live in paradise, there are many issues and most times we creatively come up with an effective, efficient and legal way to deal with them. However, sometimes we fail to get beyond the legal authority granted to us by state law and/or our limited resources due to our financial condition.

As City Manager, I also get to fully appreciate the tremendous value of what we are and what we have as a community. Lake Worth citizens: the friends, families, neighbors, business owners and visitors who inhabit and enjoy the many wonderful places, buildings and shared spaces each day are what really make Lake Worth that special place. It is truly a place to call home and unlike any other in the county.

The City employees who serve the citizens are also special. I have often said that the City staff is like a crew in a lifeboat. They are so busy rowing to keep things moving each day you sometimes do not realize that they are also very busy patching holes in the hull and fixing the rudder as they row. Some days are better than others, but every day is a blessing and I am deeply honored to work for and with people who are dedicated to doing their best for this community.

I regularly receive questions and comments about issues ranging from potholes to sober houses. In most cases our issues are not unique to Lake Worth as cities across the state are dealing with the same ones. We share our ideas through organizations such as the League of Cities and from working with them it becomes evident that all cities must consider two important factors. The first is the limits set by external entities such as the federal or state laws, and, secondly, the resources necessary to pay for a solution if one is possible.

For example, in dealing with sober homes, cities are prohibited by the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Fair Housing Act from enacting laws that treat them differently than any other type of rental. Thinking with common sense may lead you to believe that these are businesses operating in residential areas with potential negative impacts when operated by unscrupulous owners. You may ask, “Why doesn’t the City require a special license or prohibit them altogether?” The simple answer is that as long as Congress considers a person with an addiction as protected under law, the City is greatly limited in our response. Instead, we must work with our state and federal leaders to figure out how to creatively and legally mitigate the impacts while also working for changes to the laws.

As for problems like potholes and the poor condition of our streets throughout the City, the fact is that there is not enough money to cover the costs. The money currently available for streets just pays to patch potholes, make small repairs, and do an occasional project in coordination with a utility project that must be done under the pavement. Citizens ask about grant money and there is only one source for residential streets called a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). It is based on our poverty rate, which is around 30%. The Commission has been investing this money into Greenway and roadway projects such as 10th Avenue South and the upcoming Barton Road and Tropical Drive project. Again, we are coordinating with a much needed water line replacement project there. The CDBG grant is approximately $250,000 a year, so it is nowhere enough to solve the problem citywide which would require well over $50 million just to catch up.

These two examples demonstrate that the issues you see are much more involved and complicated than a simple answer will address. As the representatives of the City Organization, we are problem solvers by nature and we much prefer to be a part of the solution instead of being seen as unhelpful or unwilling. Many times when I get a chance to sit and discuss the details of an issue, residents start to understand a more comprehensive approach is required. To this point, the City needs to do a better job of getting important information into your hands. As Citizens, you have a much greater ability to engage other levels of government, to help make decisions on how to fund needed improvements, and to find creative solutions beyond the City’s capability to address.

In the past couple of years we have developed a new website, created a newsletter insert in the utility bill, set up a Twitter account, and most recently started an email newsletter and an online electric utility map to check outages. In the coming year we will be working to open more lines of communication by creating a Facebook page. We are also exploring specialized online engagement for people who do not attend meetings, improved surveys, and more traditional town hall meetings across the City. Solutions to the issues that concern you start with you getting involved. We are committed to doing a better job of giving you all the information you need to understand the issues and to provide input.

Lake Worth is known for how passionate the citizens are about our City. As City Manager, I believe that what joins us is greater than anything that separates us. While sometimes extreme points of view dominate the discussion, most everyone I see genuinely cares about our City, its future, and wants the best for all. We face many challenges in the coming years and the only way we will be able to meet them is by seeking out the points where we agree and working through those areas where we do not agree as a community.

We are well on our way of being the best version of ourselves – One City.

The World's Atrocity and we are a part of it

Corporate America and its innovation...used to be tops in the world but we are sliding quickly. Countries are stealing our trade secrets and patents and it is costing our companies over $15 billion a year. We can't even keep our trade secrets safe from these enemies. What has ever happened to good ole American ingenuity? Right now it has become good ole American "stupidity" and lost humanity.

But here's a unique innovative idea that was stolen by ISIS from our very own Planned Parenthood that is subsidized by the United States government: the harvesting of body parts from the unborn victims. In the case of ISIS, non-Muslims are being killed and could be used to save lives of Muslims.

Lake Worth Employees--Blame it on your Unions

Comment Up

The Explanation as to why city employees have not yet received their 4% budgeted raise. They will get it but now it's a matter of when--will one side cave in to the other's demands? I think the city is holding the cards as they are the ones who actually pay out the money. And we need a retirement plan that makes sense in today's economic climate. This blog has discussed the pension subject on numerous occasions.

Basically, the city wants to negotiate the Pension part of the Contract separately and the unions insist it be a part of the new Contract.

The commission never talks about the pensions that have bled this city dry, a part of the uncontrollable costs amounting to 69.31% of the entire last year's budget. But in the meantime, employees need their promised raise.

Forced "Diversity" and Socialism by our Commander in Chief

Comment Up

We are quickly becoming a Third World country in many ways:  open borders with hundreds of illegal aliens crossing daily into our country and now forced refugee resettlement...as most of these people have no money and little skills.  Who is taking care of these people who are invited by Obama into our states besides crazy California, a state that is nearly bankrupt?

This is exactly the mindset of our government that has caused Sober Homes, full of "recovering" drug addicts, and allowing them to live in our residential neighborhoods.  This IS all Obama's doing and throw in Hillary.

"The Housing Authority of Baltimore City is secretly relocating Section 8 subsidized housing families from the inner city into suburban homes – and some critics are charging it is part of a plan to deliberately cause damage to the communities there.

They’re going to be destroying every suburb that they move into, just as they’ve done the inner cities,” said Jesse Lee Peterson, author. “This is ‘forced diversity.’”

Terrorists and other stupid people

From Breitbart:
Black Lives Matter and Mizzou protesters responded to the murder of scores of people in Paris at the hands of Islamic extremists by complaining about losing the spotlight and saying their “struggles” were being “erased.”

Their struggles, remember, consist of a poop swastika of unknown provenance and unsubstantiated claims of racially-charged remarks somewhere near Missouri’s campus.

So debased has the language on American campuses become that these incidents, which many observers believe to be hoaxes, just like previous campus scandals celebrated by progressive media, are being referred to as “terrorism” and a “tragedy” conducted by moronic 20-year-olds who have never been told, “No.”

Romney/Obama Facts

Comment Up

TRIVIA:

Professor Joseph Olson (there is on-line data that says he denies he wrote this on-line doc) of Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the last (2012) Presidential election:

Number of States won by:
Obama: 19 -- Romney: 29

Square miles of land won by:
Obama: 580,000 -- Romney: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:
Obama: 127 million -- Romney: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Obama: 13.2 -- Romney: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Romney won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare"...

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase..

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called “illegals” and they vote - then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

Ben Carson - Steps for a Safer America

Ben Carson’s “Seven Steps for a Safer America”

  •     Congress must formally declare war on ISIS.
  •     The U.S. should lead the formation of a military coalition in the Middle East.
  •     The U.S. coalition should establish a “massive” military force of Sunni Syrian men to take on ISIS.
  •     A refugee safe zone should be established in Syria
  •     Congress should establish a war-time emergency visa and immigration policy.
  •     U.S. military personnel should patrol the U.S. southern border and designated areas along the northern border.
  •     The U.S. should designate the Muslim Brotherhood and similar organizations as terrorist organizations, and fully investigate the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

The Annoying Rand Paul

Rand Paul reminds me of the annoying little kid in school who was always complaining to his teacher that Johnnie was cheating or doing this or that--he's probably been a tattletale from infancy to age 52...a Mr. Goody Two Shoes that everyone hated. He has to have something to complain about as Marco Rubio is ahead of him in the polls.

His latest attack is going after Marco Rubio for not showing up in Washington on December 18 to cast his vote on the Omnibus bill. It's bad enough when you have Democrats and the liberal press attacking you but fellow Republicans and conservatives doing it for "Brownie points?"

As Marco said, "In 2008, Barack Obama missed 60 or 70 percent of his votes and the same newspaper [Sun Sentinel] endorsed him again. So this is another example of the double standard that exists in this country between the mainstream media and the conservative movement." Politifact states that in 2008, Obama  missed 137 out of 213 votes, or 64.3 percent of votes.

The bill was 65 to 33 in the Senate with two Not Voting. The other Senator was Barbara Boxer, a Democrat. Everyone there knew the bill would be passed and Marco won't be officially on the record  for voting to shut down the government. As Marco Rubio said, “In essence, not voting for it is a vote against it, although my position in it is clear, because they needed my vote to get it passed to get to 60 votes because of the Senate rules."

Roll Call vote on Omnibus Bill.

"As the chart shows, the federal government’s welfare system is fostering dependency at an alarming rate. The number of people dependent on three big government programs has grown from less than 80 million to over 95 million in just six years. This as the federal government runs up the national debt with a credit card backed by future earnings of today’s children and by those not yet born.

The national debt stands at $18.8 trillion, $8.2 trillion more than the $10.6 trillion it was when President Barack Obama was elected. That’s not investing in the future, that’s kicking an $18.8 trillion can down the road to the next generation’s doors."

Kwanzaa to be celebrated in Lake Worth

Comment Up

The city just put out it's on-line news that states:

Celebrate Kwanza on Saturday, December 26 at 2:00 PM in City Hall annex

The first specifically African-American holiday was created by Maulana Karenga in 1965. During the early years of Kwanzaa, it was meant to be an "oppositional alternative" to Christmas.  Karenga was convicted of felony assault charges in 1971 after he was accused of torturing two women. He did serve time behind bars, but reports differ on whether he spent four or five years in prison.

However, and in spite of his felony conviction and prison term, Kwanzaa gained mainstream adherents when Karenga altered his position so that practicing Christians would not be alienated and he could gain members. "Many African Americans who celebrate Kwanzaa do so in addition to observing Christmas," according to Wikipedia.

But because of Political Correctness, we are not allowed to have anything that exclusively mentions Christmas and there is no special city event with the word Christmas in it. Even the tree is now a Holiday Tree.  The Parade is a Holiday parade.

Chaz Stevens' "stick religion in your eye" Festivus Pole back at Florida state Capitol

Comment Up

Chaz Stevens, the man who was instrumental in getting our city commission to bow down and kiss his butt and change procedure for invocations, is back at our state capitol in Tallahassee with his Festivus pole. This guy is one angry man who wants to shove his pole down every Christians' throat. It's silly, really. But what the hey; it's free speech.

This year the pole has a different design as he's angry about those people who believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. He's pissed off actually and he says his new design is "meant to rebut religious activists' opposition to the Supreme Court's decision this year legalizing same-sex marriage."

He believes in free speech and expression when it comes to himself but not for anyone else who disagrees.

Memorial for James E. Addison

It was a lovely service held yesterday at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church attended by many friends and family. The Internment followed at 2pm at National Cemetery for our beloved James E. Addison. I will especially miss not seeing him at our city commission meetings. And no matter how sick or frail that he was at times, he never stopped caring about his home, Lake Worth, where he met his beloved wife Sheila at Lake Worth High. Rest in Peace my friend.

The Quran is a Law Book?

Comment Up

It's no wonder that Yale has a bunch of idiots.  Did you see the Jessee Waters interview there last week where he asked students to sign a petition to immediately end the First Amendment? None of them even knew what the First Amendment said which basically allows them to be idiots.

Now the school accepted a $10 million donation from a Muslim and the school has created a Center for Islamic Law and Civilization. The school wants everyone past and present to read the Quran as a law book.

Read about it... to see one of the few but devastating none-hope and changes that have occurred under Obama.
