The Annoying Rand Paul
Rand Paul reminds me of the annoying little kid in school who was always complaining to his teacher that Johnnie was cheating or doing this or that--he's probably been a tattletale from infancy to age 52...a Mr. Goody Two Shoes that everyone hated. He has to have something to complain about as Marco Rubio is ahead of him in the polls.
His latest attack is going after Marco Rubio for not showing up in Washington on December 18 to cast his vote on the Omnibus bill. It's bad enough when you have Democrats and the liberal press attacking you but fellow Republicans and conservatives doing it for "Brownie points?"
As Marco said, "In 2008, Barack Obama missed 60 or 70 percent of his votes and the same newspaper [Sun Sentinel] endorsed him again. So this is another example of the double standard that exists in this country between the mainstream media and the conservative movement." Politifact states that in 2008, Obama missed 137 out of 213 votes, or 64.3 percent of votes.
The bill was 65 to 33 in the Senate with two Not Voting. The other Senator was Barbara Boxer, a Democrat. Everyone there knew the bill would be passed and Marco won't be officially on the record for voting to shut down the government. As Marco Rubio said, “In essence, not voting for it is a vote against it, although my position in it is clear, because they needed my vote to get it passed to get to 60 votes because of the Senate rules."
Roll Call vote on Omnibus Bill.
