Filing Reveals DOJ May Be Part of Scandal of ‘Missing’ Secret Service Texts

Jack Smith, in his Monday night filing, objected to President Trump’s demands for evidence from the Department of Homeland Security and January 6 Committee.

There appears to be a scandal involving missing Secret Service texts between two dozen officials and agents, including the director and Robert Engel – the agent Trump allegedly attacked on January 6th according to Cassidy Hutchinson – that were deleted at the end of January 2021.

The USSS claimed that this purge was caused by a pre-planned reset of devices, which happened after House Democrats notified the executive branch to preserve records related to January 6th.

Wireless Communications While Driving; Requiring a law enforcement officer to inform a motor vehicle operator of certain rights; requiring such officer to record the race and ethnicity of a violator when issuing a citation; requiring law enforcement agencies to report such information to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles; prohibiting a person from operating a motor vehicle while using a wireless communications device in a handheld manner in a designated school crossing, school zone, or work zone; authorizing a law enforcement officer during a specified period to stop motor vehicles to issue warnings to persons who are driving while using a wireless communications device in a handheld manner in a designated school crossing, school zone, or work zone; requiring all law enforcement agencies to maintain such information and report it to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles in a form and manner determined by the department, etc.

Last Action: 1/9/2018 House - Now in Judiciary Committee. It passed its first hurdle yesterday and now moves on to two more committees. Perhaps this year we will finally have a law against texting while driving. It's way past time for this law.

Florida NO Texting while Driving law begins October 1

Beginning October 1, texting while driving will be against Florida law. Even though it will only be considered a secondary offense (cops won't be allowed to stop you just for that infraction), Florida will become the 41st state to prohibit this dangerous practice that often times takes two hands!

We should have a stronger law in Florida but this is a beginning. According to Text Free Driving organization:

• 89 - % of people want a ban on texting while driving
• 80 - % of crashes are caused by distraction w/in 3 secs. of the event
• 57 - % of those drivers text while driving

Governor Rick Scott is going to sign the texting while Driving Ban,  however the bill is not strong enough. It's a start.

It passed in the Florida Senate--all 36 Florida State Senators voted to ban texting while driving and approved SB -52 before the amendment was introduced yesterday morning, and then it passed in the House, 73/46. We might know later this week and ultimately it's all up to the Governor.

A late amendment that passed Tuesday morning was proposed by Rep.Jose Oliva, R-Miami, would allow cell phone records to be used as evidence only in the case of a crash resulting in death or personal injury. Oliva said the purpose of the amendment is to “protect civil liberties” not derail the bill.

The bill would make texting while driving a secondary offense. That means a motorist would have to commit another violation, such as careless driving, in order to be pulled over. Once stopped, a driver could receive two tickets, one for the infraction and one for texting, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

According to a survey by AT&T, 97% of teens claim that driving while texting is dangerous, however, 43 percent confessed that they had texted while driving before. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Loss Data Institute reports that Florida is one of five U.S. states with no legislation banning texting while driving in some form along with Montana, Arizona, South Carolina, and Hawaii. Those who were hesitant on the ban have the exact same argument as those who want to create a pathway to citizenship for all the 11 to 22 million illegal aliens who are in this country. The problem is so prevalent and pervasive, how are we to enforce the laws on the books, they ask. It's easier to "cave."
