Suspect Wanted for Theft by Distraction at Family Dollar in Lake Worth Beach

"The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) is seeking the public’s help in identifying a female suspect involved in a theft by distraction incident at the Family Dollar store located in the 1200 block of South Dixie Highway. The theft occurred on September 16, 2024.

According to PBSO, the suspect stole a plastic bag containing cash from a customer while both individuals were inside the store. The victim was distracted, allowing the suspect to seize the opportunity to steal the cash.

Gary Kroman is a Palm Beach County artist who sells his work in a boutique downtown. On Aug. 10, Kroman said a man entered the business on 700 block of Lake Avenue in Lake Worth Beach and switched price tags from his gallery.

Now, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies are in the hunt for the suspect. They said the thief took $6,500 worth of Kroman’s artwork and only paid about $50.

“It feels like someone punched you in the stomach and the air went out of you," stated Kroman. "It took a lot time to do, it’s an important piece.” [WPTV]

Former Biden administration nuclear waste official Sam Brinton, who resigned in disgrace after being arrested twice for stealing high-end luggage from airports, has managed to avoid jail time on both arrests.

Brinton was arrested in October 2022 for stealing more than $2,000 in luggage from a luggage carousel at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport after flying there for a conference from Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C.

He was allowed to enter a diversion program on those charges by agreeing to a mental health evaluation, writing an apology letter to the victim, return the stolen luggage, and do three days of community service.

If he completes the program, the charges will be stricken from his record. Nice.

Ring doorbell camera video has caught an accused porch pirate hitting a house in Lake Worth Beach, not only snatching Amazon packages but also the homeowner's prescription medication.

Video shows what appears to be a man in a hat and sunglasses pacing back and forth on private property in the Mango Groves area, in front of Daenon Gualt-Vasconez's home.

And then next thing you know takes our packages and it was unfortunate because it was prescription medication in one of them,” Gualt-Vasconez said.

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is searching for an individual that stole holiday inflatables from a neighborhood in Lake Worth Beach in late November.

Investigators say the suspect stole a number of inflatable decorations from the South Palm Park community.

Detectives say the man targeted the decorations in the median of S. Palm Way, as well as decorations in people's yards and at nearby businesses.

The suspect is believed to be driving a dark-colored Chevrolet Equinox or Traverse.

An unidentified man walked into the Walgreens on South Dixie Highway on Dec. 8 and Dec. 9, and stole several cartons of cigarettes before fleeing the store, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said. He was wearing the same clothes both times.
