Tennessee's House minority leader ties Democrats' tantrums to numerology and Obama

Tennessee state Republicans passed a new congressional map last week that, applying the logic of the U.S. Supreme Court's recent Callais ruling, carves up a Democrat-held district that was the product of a racial gerrymander.

They managed to do so despite obstruction and gross incivility from their Democrat colleagues.

Tennessee state Rep. Justin Jones, for instance, walked around the chamber blowing a bullhorn in the faces of lawmakers and subjecting them to potential noise-induced hearing loss. Jones — a Democrat who was caught on film throwing a traffic cone at a driver during a 2020 Black Lives Matter blockade — also set fire to a printout of the Confederate flag and repeatedly accused Republicans of racism.

The U.S. Supreme Court's Callais decision heavily weakened federal protections under Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act (VRA), sparking immediate mid-decade congressional redistricting across Tennessee.

The high court ruled that states cannot overly rely on race to dictate legislative maps, effectively allowing partisan politics to guide redrawn boundaries.

This decision completely reshaped Tennessee's electoral landscape and triggered significant legal battles.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee Signs Redistricting Bill to Carve Up State’s Lone Blue District

The proposal splits the Democratic stronghold of Memphis into three U.S. congressional seats.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed a new U.S. congressional map into law on May 7. The legislation will redistrict and break up the state’s only current Democratic district ahead of the midterms.

Lee signed the legislation hours after it passed the state House 64–25, with three voting “present,” and the state Senate 25–5.

The proposal splits the Democratic stronghold of Memphis into three U.S. congressional seats, up from one, currently held by Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.).

All of Tennessee’s nine congressional districts will now likely lean Republican, so the only Democratic voice representing the Volunteer State could be voted out in the midterms.

Cohen—who currently represents District 9, covering parts of Shelby County including the city of Memphis, and Tipton County— called redistricting efforts “a blatant, corrupt power grab that would destroy the Black community’s and [the] entire city’s voice,” in a May 6 post on X.

Three Democrat Tennessee state lawmakers joined anti-gun activists in storming the state Capitol soon after the school shooting. It appears they were encouraging gun control protesters to violate the law and invade the government building. Huh, I guess Democrats don’t mind storming a Capitol, as long as it’s for one of their causes.

Tennessee must pass a law to protect sanity

Forty years ago, Tennessee passed The Butler Act that made it illegal for public schools to teach evolution and it remained in force for 40 years. I used to live in Tennessee and went to college there. Back then, residents in the state were very religious and trying to live in the way they believed God would wish them to live. Residents to this day still believe in God and country.

The Butler Act may be defunct, but the debate between creationist and evolutionary proponents continues unabated to this day especially in Bible Belt areas of our country.

Despite the fact that Democratic Senator Katrina Robinson was found guilty on four of the five accusations against her, she has refused to declare if she will resign from office.

Robinson was convicted of wire fraud last Thursday and still faces further charges including money laundering, WHBQ-TV reports."
