Lawyers say,  he also made “less than veiled threats,” “mischaracterized a public sidewalk as being school property,” “asserted a false right to ‘protect’ students from being exposed to speech he deemed inappropriate,” and “forcefully took … property … and threw it in the street,” the letter said.
“In the presence of many students, he thereby flouted and squelched our clients’ First Amendment rights,” it said.

This is what's being taught in our schools, folks.

I find it some what incredulous that we have to have a ribbon cutting for repairing infrastructure in Lake Worth.  I suppose it is a tremendous achievement as it has been neglected for 100 years according to Scott Maxwell. Politicians were there for their photo-op and staff is just doing their job that they are paid to do. 

6th Ave South – Federal to Dixie Roadway Improvements Project – Ribbon Cutti

The City of Lake Worth  announced the completion of the 6th Ave South Roadway Improvements Project which spans from Dixie Hwy to Federal Hwy.

On Monday, the City performed a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the much anticipated reconstruction of this gateway entrance into the City.

The project consisted of the installation of new curbing, sidewalks, ADA compliant curb ramps, traffic calming, drainage improvements, landscaping, pavement reconstruction, and new striping and signage.

Pam Triolo and the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Org

On Tuesday night, we learned that Pam Triolo – Lake Worth mayor, is a member of the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organization that consists now of 19 members (one of whom is Lake Worth businesswoman and West Palm Beach Commissioner, Shanon Materio) but trying to expand to 21.  When Sharon Parsons gave her presentation of the Citizen Survey and it was said that we had "transparency" issues, the people weren't wrong.  Who ever knew that Mayor Triolo was a member of this group? Perhaps she's mentioned it.

Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) were "mandated by the Federal Highway Act  of 1973 to provide a cooperative, comprehensive, and continuing transportation planning and decision-making process. The process encompasses all modes and covers both short-range and long-range transportation planning. Being a member of this group is a big deal as MPO members direct how and where available state and federal dollars for transportation improvements will be spent." Source: MPO

DOT has tried to encourage Palm Beach County's MPO to merge with Broward and Miami/Dade. Executive Director Nick Uhren believes that Palm Beach would get lost in the shuffle and he is correct.

Read about this group and our decision to submit an application for trolley funding ($1,650,000) and a bicycle network where the actual amount of funding to be requested has not yet been determined. The plan is being prepared by the Lake Worth CRA.

One of the greatest services that they could implement would be signage. One of these days someone will get severely injured by a bicyclist riding on our sidewalks.

Seeing Ron Exline the other night at the LW 2020 meeting at the Glass House brought back some memories.

Even this article shows that we have had disgruntled people for decades here in Lake Worth--some like the decisions of a commission; others don't. I would bet, however, that people were a whole lot nicer back then and opinions could be heard without one side getting ticked off or being outspokenly rude towards another resident at a town hall district or commission meeting. It was a more cordial era. We didn't have the personal attacks from Internet users who feel they now can say any nasty thing in the book, anonymously of course.

LAKE WORTH -- Bicycles, skateboards and roller skates are officially unwelcome on the sidewalks of the downtown area, city commissioners decided on Monday, even if the vehicles are propelled by someone too small to be in traffic.

Commissioners unanimously passed an ordinance, to be effective on July 13, banning bikes, skateboards, roller skates ``or other types of coaster vehicle`` from the downtown area, despite protests from bicyclists and merchants alike.

Located in front of the Scooter Store in the 1800 block of Dixie Highway, this open area has been unchanged since it was first reported well over a year ago. Recently a little boy fell into it and hurt himself. What is it and why isn't it covered?

Tables, chairs and planters must be six feet away from the curb according to FDOT.

From the complaints that we have heard and received, activities are taking place on public right of way on the weekends and later in the evening. If the businesses undertake activities on the right of way without an appropriate permit, they will be cited."
