Now, tell me why losing parking revenue is beneficial to the City of Lake Worth. Is it because you plan to have a public/private partnership at the beach and you don't give a crap? Some of those in this photo should be solving our problems in this city such as slum, blight and crime and stop demolishing historic homes and catering to every developer alive. Those in the county should be concentrating on Tent City and the Homeless in John Prince Park.

The City says, After 6 months of hard work, the displays have been redesigned by well-known graphic designer Walter Harper, who was assisted by a small group of volunteers.

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held at 2:15pm on October 27.

Lake Worth, Florida, USA – April 30, 2017-Dreams do come true at Sacred Heart School!  For the past 4 years the school has been working hard to raise the funds to build a gymnasium.  On April 30, 2017 the school celebrated a ribbon cutting of the Founders Hall Gymnasium.  “Physical Education class will not be the same for Sacred Heart Students thanks to the generosity of our founders, Mary & Pat Donaghy, William B. Finneran, Susan & Joe Plumeri, Priscilla & Richard Schmeelk, Jeanne & Herbert Siegel and Marcela & Gary Smigiel” said Principal Candace Tamposi.

The festivities began with Mayor Pam Triolo and Palm Beach resident and Sacred Heart School benefactor Patrick Donaghy cutting the grand opening ribbon.  Speakers include Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell and the Founders and a blessing by Fr. Quesnel Delvard. The festivities included a presentation by SHS cheerleaders and drumline and a rendition of the National Anthem by seventh grade students Lilian Vargas accompanied by Raul Ocasio on the violin.

Composer Ali Tamposi thanked her mother, Principal Tamposi, for the many years of service to Catholic education.  Ali Tamposi spoke about the need to provide nutritious breakfast and lunch for the children. She urged the attendees to sponsor a child’s breakfast or lunch for a year. Ali Tamposi kicked off pay for child’s breakfast/lunch program at Sacred Heart School by donating $10,000 towards

The event concluded with a rendition of God Bless America performed by Local vocalist Bianca Clark, Sacred Heart Student Liliana Vargas and singer song writer Ali Tamposi.  The honor of being the first to shoot a basket went to Sacred Heart Student and member of the SHS Varsity Basketball team Tomas Pino.  The crowd roared as Tomas made a 3 point shot!

Ribbon Cutting – Lake Worth Domino Park
The City of Lake Worth is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for Domino Park, an unused parcel of land that has been upgraded with Community Development Block Grant funds to better accommodate residents. The ceremony will take place at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 4th in Domino Park.

“Domino Park” was an unimproved parcel of land in the City right-of-way that has been used as a community meeting place for years by residents in the area.  Palm Beach County allowed the City to utilize unexpended Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to make some improvements to the area that will better accommodate the residents through the provision of a more attractive venue and protection from the elements. 

“We were able to complete some of our other CDBG projects on time and under budget, so the County graciously allowed us to put the remaining funds toward other locations – Domino Park and the upgrading of the Osborne Pavilion specifically.  Residents in the area are always out here playing checkers and dominoes, so it’s great we were able to clean it up and provide a permanent structure to this community meeting place.”

Ribbon Cutting – Lake Worth Solar Energy Project

On Tuesday, February 28th at 2:00pm Mayor Pam Triolo will unveil the Lake Worth Solar Energy Project located at 1200 Washington Avenue, Lake Worth, FL. The initial project developed 5 acres of an unused 63 acre landfill into a high capacity solar energy field.

The 2 megawatt (MW) solar plant is the first step in a long-term investment in solar that will make Lake Worth’s rates more competitive and position the City as a leader in renewable energy in Florida. While a few Florida cities, such as Jacksonville and Orlando, are buying solar power, Lake Worth is the state’s first municipality to own and operate a solar farm.

Lake Worth expects the initial 6,490 solar panels to generate about two percent of the City’s load – enough to power more than 230 homes per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than four million pounds. That’s the equivalent of taking 445 cars off the road. Under its contract with Siemens, the city has the ability to increase the solar farm’s capacity to as much as 10MW at the same location.

I find it some what incredulous that we have to have a ribbon cutting for repairing infrastructure in Lake Worth.  I suppose it is a tremendous achievement as it has been neglected for 100 years according to Scott Maxwell. Politicians were there for their photo-op and staff is just doing their job that they are paid to do. 

6th Ave South – Federal to Dixie Roadway Improvements Project – Ribbon Cutti

The City of Lake Worth  announced the completion of the 6th Ave South Roadway Improvements Project which spans from Dixie Hwy to Federal Hwy.

On Monday, the City performed a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the much anticipated reconstruction of this gateway entrance into the City.

The project consisted of the installation of new curbing, sidewalks, ADA compliant curb ramps, traffic calming, drainage improvements, landscaping, pavement reconstruction, and new striping and signage.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Water Infrastructure Improvements

The City of Lake Worth will be hosting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for a project that will improve the water infrastructure in Lake Worth.  The project will replace the old 2 inch watermain with a new 4 inch watermain.  The watermain project – North N Street - will be replaced by City staff and include the area between 13th Avenue North to 15th Avenue North.

The City of Lake Worth will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Community Development Block Grant(CDBG) funded greenway project on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on 5th Avenue North and North B St. at 3:00 P.M.

5th Avenue North – North A Street to North C Street: this project consisted of converting the existing unimproved right-of-way into a greenway by means of clearing and grubbing the entire site, fine grading to provide positive surface drainage, construction of a multi-use pathway, and the installation of sod/landscaping/irrigation system. This is the second location to be implemented by the City’s new greenway concept.

City of Lake Worth Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Greenway and Road Improvement Projects at 9th 10th Avenue South.

The City of Lake Worth will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funded greenway and road improvement projects on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. The first ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on 10th Avenue South at South E Street from 1:00 - 1:30pm and the second ceremony will take place on 9th Avenue S. at South E Street from 1:30 - 2:00p.m.

10th Avenue South – South A Street to South F Street: this project consisted of converting the existing unimproved right-of-way into a new roadway complete with sidewalks with ADA ramps, Type F curb and gutter, new pavement section, sodding, and striping/signage. Water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems were also addressed in this project.

9th Avenue South – South B Street to South F Street: this project consisted of converting the existing unimproved right-of-way into a greenway by means of clearing and grubbing the entire site, fine grading to provide positive surface drainage, construction of a multiuse pathway, and the installation of sod/landscaping/irrigation system as well as site amenities like fixed trash receptacles and benches. This is the first location to implement the City’s new greenway concept.

E. R. Bradley's Beach Club Ribbon Cutting

The best thing about E. R. Bradley's Beach Club is its location at the beautiful Lake Worth Golf Course. The new outside decking overlooking the golfcourse and the Intracoastal Waterway has an unsurpassed ambiance. Umbrellas are on order and will be covering the outside tables, a perfect area for dining.

The city will receive $3,000 a month on a ten year lease (no escalation clause and no percentage of profits) that is renewable for an additional 10 years. The city of Lake Worth will be solely responsible for all utility fees and costs, including but not limited to: telephone, electricity, garbage removal, sewer and water service. Such a deal.

The ribbon cutting was yesterday but for some reason, the restaurant was unprepared to open to the public. In the lobby was a sign that its grand opening would be Friday.  A person identified as the owner, Nick Coniglio, son of the mayor of Palm Beach, did not seem too happy. I approached him on my way out and he said that he was opening earlier than planned...mentioned  that many of his staff were still untrained...and he just was not interested in a ribbon cutting. When I suggested that it was good publicity, he said he did not need the publicity. Well, it's true--E.R. Bradley's does have a reputation and following of its own but it's also true that it does need the public.

Yesterday was their first day and the kinks had not been worked out...only one computer it was explained. An ObamaCare "glitch" came to mind. The commission was there along with the Mayor and many of our residents who stayed for lunch to support Mr. Coniglio's new venture by spending money on lunch and cocktails. By the time I arrived there and eventually finished my tuna sandwich ($9.95 plus tax and tip) that included a small plastic bag of unopened potato chips, it was two hours later. On a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being tops or the most expensive, here are my ratings for the opening day that are bound to get better:

I'll try again next month as this might have been nothing more than opening day blues.

Casino Grand Opening Tonight and start of Turtle Nesting Season

Tonight the city is having another event at the Casino at the Lake Worth beach to raise money for a clock.  This one will cost $50 per person and begins at 7pm with a ribbon cutting followed by a 1920's party lasting until 11:30pm. It has been reported that the City has sold 200 tickets. Free parking is from 6pm. Folks attending are assembling or renting their costumes with women looking like flappers and men favoring short jackets with two or three buttons rather than jackets with long tailcoats as well as pinstriped suits. At 9:30, there will be fireworks from the Pier.

Today is the start of Turtle season. The County's web site says, "In 1987 Palm Beach County passed the Sea Turtle Protection Ordinance, one of the first in the state. The County's Department of Environmental Resources Management (ERM) is responsible for implementing measures designed to protect sea turtles and urges everyone to learn more about these magnificent creatures.

Every year sea turtle nesting season begins March 1 and ends October 31. Lights visible from the beach during nesting season adversely affect both adult sea turtles and hatchlings by affecting their ability to find the ocean. ERM conducted a study to evaluate the effect of corrective lighting on reducing sea turtle disorientations. The study found that by reducing the number of lights visible from the beach, fewer disorientation events occurred and fewer numbers of disoriented hatchlings were observed, which resulted in a lower percentage of nests disoriented. Lake Worth has installed turtle friendly lighting.

Human activity, noise, and use of flashlights on the beach at night can cause nesting females to halt nesting attempts, resulting in what is called a "false crawl." Today, the most successful predators of sea turtles are humans. As this event is on the very first day of Turtle Nesting Season, the turtles  have the odds with them and won't be affected by car headlights, noise or fireworks.

Grand Opening of Barry's Lake Worth Beach Tee Shirt Company

Today, Monday January 14 will be the grand opening of the Lake Worth Beach Tee Shirt company! From 3-7 there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Mayor at 3:00pm and food and drinks up to 7:00pm.

It was a real challenge just to get a signed Lease with the City but Barry was one of the original tenants who did have the Right of First Refusal even if the City didn't want to understand that and gave him a major hard time.  Now he's ready and excited to see all of his former customers and friends.

Let's get behind Barry; come by and support Barry S. Freedman on the re-opening of his store that is more dynamite than before!!
