The Department of Justice (DOJ) official who approved a $2 million in settlements for disgraced Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page — whose anti-Trump texts became central to allegations of political bias in the bureau’s 2016 Trump-Russia probe — is a left-wing activist, according to a Friday report.

Through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by the Center to Advance Security in America in 2024, it was revealed the DOJ’s former Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Federal Programs Branch, Brian Netter, was responsible for approving the settlement agreements, according to The Federalist.

Netter, who served under Attorney General (AG) Merrick Garland, has since been working as the Legal Director for Democracy Forward.

The annex showed the FBI ignored information suggesting Hillary Clinton’s campaign planned to falsely link Trump to Russian organized crime. Strzok and Page settled with $1.2 million and $800,000, respectively, according to Politico.

3 facing criminal charges in Iranian murder-for-hire plan targeting Donald Trump

The Justice Department on Friday disclosed an Iranian murder-for-hire plot to kill Donald Trump, charging a man who said he had been tasked by a government official before this week's election with assassinating the Republican president-elect.

Investigators learned of the plot to kill Trump while interviewing Farhad Shakeri, an Afghan national identified by officials as an Iranian government asset who was deported from the U.S. after being imprisoned on robbery charges.

He told investigators that a contact in Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard instructed him this past September to put together a plan within seven days to surveil and ultimately kill Trump, according to a criminal complaint unsealed in federal court in Manhattan.

Two other men who the authorities say were recruited to participate in other assassinations, including a prominent Iranian American journalist, were also arrested Friday. Shakeri remains in Iran.

The lawsuit alleges Alabama’s removal of voters from its state registration list within 90 days of the election violates federal law, according to the DOJ’s press release.

“I was elected Secretary of State by the people of Alabama, and it is my Constitutional duty to ensure that only American citizens vote in our elections,” Allen said in a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Chaos erupted during a House Oversight Committee hearing between Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) after Greene accused Crockett of wearing “fake eyelashes.”

According to the report, investigators found Joe Biden’s “memory was significantly limited” in interviews they conducted with him in 2023 as well as interviews with his ghostwriter.

Because of that, special counsel Robert Hur wrote in the report, investigators concluded that it “would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him – by then a former president well into his eighties – of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.”

“Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” they wrote, adding that Biden “is someone for whom many jurors will want to identify reasonable doubt.”

Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., told Newsmax that the latest attempt from the Department of Justice to obstruct the House Oversight Committee's probe into the Biden family will not work.

Appearing Friday on "Eric Bolling The Balance," Comer, chair of the Oversight Committee, slammed Attorney General Merrick Garland for selecting David C. Weiss as special counsel for the DOJ investigation of Hunter Biden's business dealings.

"This is another example of this Department of Justice being weaponized — trying to do everything in their ability to obstruct congressional investigations," he stressed. "But it's not going to obstruct our investigations. We're going to continue to move forward."

Comer said the primary purpose of appointing the special counsel is to prevent the Oversight Committee from accessing the necessary records to prove its case in court.
