The Host who lost perspective.
Variety pans Stephen Colbert's final Late Show as a flat, self-congratulatory farewell
Stephen Colbert's last night behind the desk at New York City's Ed Sullivan Theater drew a brutal review from one of Hollywood's own trade publications, and the critique landed harder than anything the host delivered in his final hour.Variety TV critic Daniel D'Addario called the finale an underwhelming "letdown," writing that Colbert proved himself "gifted at neither interview nor sketch" across a show that had nearly a year to plan its goodbye.
That verdict, from a publication that has championed late-night television for decades, amounts to a professional obituary for a ten-year run that CBS finally ended by firing its host.
The network reportedly cut Colbert loose after a decade of consistently falling ratings and what Breitbart reported were forty-million-dollar annual budget deficits that had gutted the show's viability.
For viewers who watched Colbert transform a storied comedy franchise into a nightly political therapy session for the left, the finale was a fitting conclusion: more about the host than the audience.

The Quid Pro Quo Nobody in the Media Will Name
Barack Obama Told Stephen Colbert to Run for President and Nobody Laughed
That's just funny in itself
Stephen Colbert called Vladimir Putin Donald Trump's "cockholster" on national television and CBS called it comedy. Now the show is hemorrhaging $40 million a year and CBS pulled the plug.
And the man who just showed up to say goodbye told Colbert he should run for president. Obama flew to Chicago to tape the interview inside his brand-new presidential library – the one opening June 19 and requiring a photo ID to enter.
Colbert got his farewell tongue bath from his favorite president.
Obama got 15 minutes of free advertising for a monument to himself.
That's how the left takes care of its own.

Stephen Colbert, the Pathetic Trainwreck
Stephen Colbert stood on a stage at Radio City Music Hall and raised $26 million for Joe Biden's presidential campaign.
In 17 days he is gone from CBS
This week he sat down with the New York Times and told them he was never partisan. The event was March 2024 – Biden, Obama, and Clinton on one stage, with Colbert running the conversation at the biggest Democratic fundraiser in party history. Tickets started at $250.
Photos with all three Democratic presidents cost $100,000.
That is not a comedian doing commentary on power from the outside. That is a man embedded inside the machinery of one political party using his platform to help elect their president.
Now Colbert tells the Times: "Partisan means you're never, ever going to make a joke about a Democrat, and that's just not true."
He hosted the single largest fundraiser in Democratic Party history.

CBS announced it is canceling The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in May 2026 after 10 seasons, citing financial reasons and declining advertising revenue. While some speculate the move is linked to political pressure or network mergers, CBS maintains it is a business decision, not a firing based on performance. His final episode is scheduled for May 21, 2026

Colbert’s January plunge is both the headline and the punchline
Colbert’s Ratings Plummet Ahead of Cancellation
Couldn't happend to a more deserving unfunny guy
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert just posted jaw-dropping lows. It couldn’t come at a worse time for the program — or a better time for critics.Nielsen shows the key 25–54 demo averaging roughly 285,000 viewers in January. That’s the audience advertisers actually pay attention to. In plain terms: the show is tanking where it matters most.
The drop didn’t happen overnight. Numbers have slid for years. But losing the 25–54 crowd is a different kind of problem. Late-night TV survives on that audience. When it evaporates, so do ad dollars and affiliate confidence.
Why did viewers leave? A lot of reasons. The show stuck to the same script for years. The monologues leaned heavy on one political lane. Guest lists read like a left-wing roll call. People can get that content on cable news or streaming. They don’t need it on late night.
Colbert could have shifted direction. He didn’t. Stubborn programming choices kept the same tone night after night. That kind of sameness wears out an audience.
With an announced cancellation already on the books, the ratings trajectory looks like a confirmation. Viewers checked out long before the network pulled the plug. Which means the network’s decision now seems inevitable.

Who stays up until 11:35 to watch CBS's non-funny "comedian attacking Trump every night? The entire monologue is about Trump and it’s not even humorous. When you alienate half the country, whether you think you’re justified or not, there’s almost zero reason for a network to keep wasting money on you.

The Era of smug, Trump-obsessed late-night comedy is over
Piers Morgan Destroys Colbert’s Trump Obsession In Epic Rant
Piers Morgan delivered a scathing takedown of Stephen Colbert and the broader liberal late-night comedy industry during a recent appearance on Fox News, calling out their relentless, one-note obsession with bashing former—and once again current—President Donald Trump.Morgan didn’t hold back, mocking Colbert’s massive writing staff for producing nothing but “endless sneering, mocking, Trump-bashing” content night after night. “You know what? It’s just boring,” Morgan declared, echoing the frustrations of millions of Americans who have grown weary of the left’s non-stop Trump derangement syndrome.
The cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert came as no surprise to those who recognized how out of touch Colbert and his peers—like Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and John Oliver—had become. Instead of crafting clever, original humor, these hosts relied on lazy, partisan punchlines, alienating half the country in the process.
Morgan pointed out the irony of Colbert’s downfall, noting that despite having a 200-person writing team, the show’s humor never evolved beyond Trump-hating rants. “It’s a one-trick pony,” Morgan said. “Trump-bashing, Trump-bashing, Trump-bashing.”
But the real punchline? The American people weren’t laughing. In fact, they responded by re-electing President Trump in 2024, rejecting the whiny, elitist rhetoric of the liberal media. “America went, ‘You know what? We quite like Trump. So we’re gonna vote him back in because we’re sick of you whiny liberals,’”

Kamala proudly touts her so-called “opportunity economy”
Kamala Flounders in Pathetic Colbert Interview—Same Old Script, Zero Substance
Here we go again – this PR tour is so pathetic. Kamala Harris, the so-called “candidate for change,” sits down with Stephen Colbert for yet another softball interview. And let’s be honest—Colbert might as well have handed her a script with all the talking points she needed to repeat. Surprise, surprise, she’s got nothing new to say.
It’s the same worn-out lines about small businesses, American aspirations, and her beloved “opportunity economy.” If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times. But let’s dig into the nonsense, shall we?

Robert De Niro Is Sleeping Better With Biden In The White House
Hollywood Wiseguy

Robert De Niro Humiliates Himself Defending Biden
‘He’s Doing The Best He Can’… LOL
I don’t think any actor has fallen further than Robert De Niro. He started his fall from grace as a legendary star back when he got all politically deranged hating Trump. Now, he refuses to accept that the left screwed up backing Biden. Instead, he insisted that Biden is just going through a ‘tough’ period.During the “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” went all looney defending Biden.
“Having a new guy at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has that, do you sleep any better at night?” asked Colbert.
“Yes!” De Niro laughed to loud applause from the audience.
“He’s, you know, he got us into calm waters, that was always the idea. He’s doing a very good job. It’s a tough one, I couldn’t imagine,” the actor continued. “I can’t imagine how difficult it is. I have decisions in my personal life, but what he goes through is a hundred times that.”

Ted Cruz on Stephen Colbert Show
Comment Up
California, and the people in it, are all screwed up--all liberals, all Democrats and many progressive socialists with a state near bankruptcy. Colbert's audience was full of them. Thank God they are not typical of people in our country who believe in democratic principles and our Constitution.
I'm not sure why any Conservative would go on this show but Ted Cruz held his own.
