DeSantis and Team Rebuild Bridge in Just Three Days!

Construction on the Pine Island bridge has been completed

just three days after construction began.

On October fifth, Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared W. Perdue announced the early completion of emergency road and bridge repairs to Pine Island.

On Sunday, DeSantis ordered Perdue to work with Lee county to expedite the repairs and to finish by Saturday, October eighth. The crews worked hard to complete the repairs under such ambitious timing and overperformed. The bridge was built in just three days.

Some Lake Worth Beach residents are fuming about ‘ponding’ from deteriorating curbs

An owner on N. Palmway has repaired his curbs four times and complains that his road is ignored as he continually gets flooding. "In November 2016 when he voted in favor of the $40 million road bond referendum, he thought that his road would be fixed. Through a property tax increase, Lake Worth Beach residents will be paying back the money for 30 years. With finance charges, the total price tag will be $69 million," the city said.

If I recall, it was only Commissioner Hardy who wanted to use the penny sales tax for road repairs as the bond money would only take care of a small percentage of roads in our city. That idea didn't go far with this commission. In their minds, the penny sales tax was already spent on their particular "wish lists."

"Felipe Lofaso, Lake Worth Beach’s director for public services, (I'm really out of it as I thought it was Jamie Brown who was the Director of Public Services) said there’s a reason — the city doesn’t have the money." He suggested that the homeowner talk to commissioner Andy Amoroso who did not return the call. Not returning calls is SOP for all commissioners other then Herman Robinson.

Public Engagement Meeting - 2^nd Ave South project:  Dixie Highway to Federal Highway

March 2, 2017

The City of Lake Worth is hosting a public engagement meeting on March 2^nd regarding the 2^nd Ave South Project. The segment of 2^nd Ave South from Dixie to Federal Highway is in severe structural disrepair, the purpose of the 2^nd Ave South project is to undertake the full roadway reconstruction. The project is being partially funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

The March 2^nd meeting will allow members of the community to engage with City personnel and the project engineers to address community needs/concerns that may be incorporated into the project’s design.

Lake Worth fails to maintain asset

The question that has to come to everyone's mind--why hasn't the city been maintaining our equipment housed in the Pump House located on the western side of the Lake Worth Pool?  The city takes care of its fleet by replacing vehicles after there is no longer any depreciation, so why is there no routine maintenance or routine replacement on our pool equipment?  Who's in charge?

One of the candidates gave an answer to this problem at the South Palm Park Forum--Budget! And it is the Trio commission that approved of the budget without enough money for routine maintenance.

It wasn't even a decade ago when major repairs were done to the Pump House. Following are some of the photos from 7 years ago:

After the city manager hired a consultant on the pool who also is in line to do the work if the commission agrees,  the city now tells us and wants us to believe that our pool would be too expensive to fix...better to tear it down.

It's easier to tear things down.
