After settling antisemitism claims, Columbia now faces lawsuit from Palestinian students

A new lawsuit accuses the university of biased disciplinary proceedings, surveillance of pro-Palestinian activists and creating a hostile environment after Oct. 7.

Filed in New York State Supreme Court, the complaint accuses the university of encouraging the mistreatment of Palestinian students by holding “unfair and biased disciplinary hearings” and creating a “hostile and unsafe environment” following Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel that sparked university-wide protests and tensions on campus

The lawsuit alleges that the university “actively participated in and amplified the racially, ethnically, and politically motivated targeting of Palestinian students, staff, and faculty.”

The case is the latest in a string of legal battles born out of Columbia’s handling of campus protests.

In July 2025, the Ivy League university on New York’s Upper West Side agreed to pay $21 million to settle charges by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that alleged a hostile work environment for Jewish employees as a part of its federal resolution agreement with the Trump Administration.

FBI Disrupts Major New Year’s Eve Terror Plot In Los Angeles

Federal authorities announced they have disrupted a credible terrorist threat, arresting four alleged members of a radical pro-Palestinian extremist group accused of planning coordinated New Year’s Eve bombings in Los Angeles.

The FBI confirmed that the suspects identified themselves as part of a radical offshoot of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), an extremist group motivated by pro-Palestinian, anti-law-enforcement, and anti-government ideology.

The alleged plot involved coordinated bombing attacks on New Year’s Eve using improvised explosive devices (IEDs), targeting five separate locations across Los Angeles.

On Monday, the FBI arrested a fifth individual connected to the same TILF extremist group in New Orleans for allegedly planning a separate attack.

That’s the alarming situation Ohio Republican Rep. Max Miller faced on Interstate 90, an incident that has now led to the arrest of a Westlake man, Feras S. Hamdan, on charges of aggravated menacing, as the New York Post reports. It’s a stark reminder that political disagreements can spill over into dangerous territory, especially in today’s heated climate.

On Thursday morning around 9:30 a.m., Hamdan allegedly attempted to run Miller off the road, while displaying a Palestinian flag and using anti-Jewish slurs, culminating in his arrest following an investigation by Rocky River police.

This troubling encounter unfolded as Miller, one of just four Jewish House Republicans representing an area south of Cleveland, was driving along the busy interstate. According to the congressman, the suspect lay on his horn and swerved aggressively when he couldn’t get Miller’s attention to flaunt the flag.

At least one Democrat has come out against Joe Biden’s weakness when it comes to responding to the unprecedented attack by Iran against Israel over the weekend.

Despite the size of the attack, Biden, likely fearful of voters in Dearborn, Michigan, than ramifications for the lives of those in Israel, writes The Financial Times, “urged Israel to show restraint after Iran’s drone and missile attack as Washington seeks to de-escalate Middle East tensions and reduce the risk of a full-blown regional war.

Biden declared that the United States would not offer assistance in any retaliatory attack against Iran, but that didn’t sit well with everyone in his party.

Senator John Fetterman said he didn’t agree with president’s stance America shouldn’t join its close ally in fighting Iran, saying he would never “capitulate to the fringe” of his party the way Biden has.

Chuck Schumer Threatens Americans with War if Republicans Reject His Bill

"Well folks, it seems we’re playing a high-stakes game of political chicken, and at the wheel is none other than Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. Now, I don’t know about you, but when I think of the ideal person to handle global warfare, Schumer’s face doesn’t exactly spring to mind. But hey, what do I know?

Schumer has made a rather bold move in the world of political chess. He’s threatened to send US troops to fight Russia unless Republicans agree to his $100 billion world aid bill that’s currently in limbo in Congress.

The Senate’s proposed $118.28 billion national security supplemental package allocates a whopping $60 billion in military aid to Ukraine. Only $20.23 billion is allocated to secure the US border amid what some are calling an unprecedented invasion of military-age males from Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and China.

The bill also contains aid provisions. The aid package includes $14 billion in aid to Israel, $60 billion for Ukraine and $4.83 billion to Indo-Pacific nations. It also includes $10 billion in humanitarian aid to citizens in Gaza, your know, the Palestinians who voted in HAMAS as well as to the West Bank and Ukraine. This is money we don't have!

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced he would hold the first vote on the legislation on Wednesday. He may win the vote in the Senate and McConnell, a Republican, is siding with Schumer, a Democrat. It’s like we’ve stepped into an alternate universe where up is down and left is right but Mike Johnson says it's dead in the House.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week outlined three prerequisites for peace in the region following months of war with Hamas.

Netanyahu, in an opinion piece published by The Wall Street Journal on Monday, outlined the three:

• the destruction of Hamas

• the demilitarization of Gaza

• the deradicalization of Palestinian society.

Netanyahu wrote that once these three goals are achieved, "Gaza can be rebuilt and the prospects of a broader peace in the Middle East will become a reality."
