U of VA eliminating 21 Gun Salute

University Of Virginia INSULTS And DISHONORS Veterans For The Sake Of Student Psyche!!

But the University of Virginia announced they would be ending one ceremony they had used for more than a decade to honor veterans – a 21-gun salute. The salute traditionally comes at the end of a 24-hour vigil by ROTC cadets.

Why are they eliminating it? It's all for snowflakes! Because it might trigger sensitive students and cause trauma to them if they heard the shots, according to the Washington Examiner.

Read about it... It's so ridiculous that you really need to laugh about it. But the entire state is blue. That explains the screwy mindset.

Fewer than 10 members of the Super Bowl champions' team were planning to attend the celebration today on the South Lawn despite weeks of planning for the event. This event is nonpolitical but a large segment of the Eagles team made this celebration of a football victory political. Instead, there will be a celebration at 3pm to honor America. All other invited guests are still invited to attend.

It is a total disgrace that these football players would insult the president in this manner. But when you invite guests to the "people's house" and the majority decide to disrespect the host and their American fans,  you cancel the party. The president is not going to fool around with fools.

Our friend and my hero, John Jordan, a World War II veteran, was featured in the Palm Beach Post today--front page!

Love and respect of America is supreme. In an interview with Kevin D. Thompson, John is disgusted with what some NFL players are pulling and their disrespect towards our flag and our country. We agree with John, wholeheartedly. Free speech is one thing--there's a time and a place for everything. But insolence and showing contempt towards our country is another.

Remember that song by Anita Baker...Caught up in the Rapture? "When we met, I always knew. I would feel the magic for you."  Well Mayor Triolo feels no magic with some of the people. She doesn't have the power to  influence the course of all events. She opens her mouth and screams and is a bully.
 
"We can sit here and name call...but it's about our financial future....Again, we talked about 'respectful'."

Actually what it's about is the mayor's low tolerance for a different opinion--she prefers to call them "lies" as does the local news editor and that entire political machine. It is their strategy to influence the electorate.  It's like, "how dare you question me or ask why"...I know best...I'm the mayor for gosh sakes and "you're not going to tell me what I can or can not say," as she screamed over Commissioner McVoy.

Maybe Channel 5 was influenced to remove that screaming segment out of their video but it's for the world to see at www.lakeworth.org.

We know what's respectful, Mayor, and last night you were anything but. True, everyone on the dais has the right to express his opinion, even Commissioner McVoy. Every citizen has that right as well. It would behoove you to sit there "respectfully" and listen to the other commissioners and the people you serve instead of losing it, yelling at an elected official, calling a resident a liar and storming out of the meeting. All good leaders need to regulate and control their own emotions.

Local churches taking security measures

Patrols and security cameras may become the norm at church.  Everyone needs to be "cautious" at this time because of the recent massacre in Charleston.

Pastor Tony Cato is the senior pastor at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Lake Worth. He says before the Charleston tragedy his church was already making changes to their security measures in the way it trains his new deacons. Read about it...

If you recall, on June 16th we had Minister Hopelyn West from this church give the invocation at our city commission meeting. Her message was short lived. What happened minutes later, suggests that some people closed their ears to her message that "prayer can lead the way...everything that will be discussed every decision that will be made...and that all the people be taken into consideration...let it be about the lives of the residents in this community...conduct ourselves in a manner that is appropriate...no disruption, unruly behavior...that we will treat these chambers with the respect..."

There were some residents who showed zero respect that night and the mayor allowed it.

There's a lot of disrespect in this city and it starts right at the top--right there on the dais that is consumed by a few bullies. And that's why their friends believe it is A-Ok to be the same way, rude and boorish. The conversation went like this as Maxwell has never once pronounced Commissioner Ryan Maier's name correctly.

Vice Mayor Maxwell:  "...and finally with respect to Mr. [MAYer]" (Note he didn't refer to him as "commissioner.")
Mayor Pam Triolo corrects him: "[MYer]"
Vice Mayor Maxwell then retorts: "Whatever"

Rules of Decorum - Read the Rules Mayor

At the back of the city commission chamber are the Agendas. On the front of each one is a cover sheet usually printed in green paper. The reverse side gives you information on how the meeting is conducted. Below is the Rules of Decorum, something this commission finds impossible or just flat refuses to enforce.

There was NOTHING respectful with a library board member's commentary towards Commissioner Ryan Maier. In fact, it was inaccurate and libelous and now it is all on audio for future reference and Mr. Maier's lawyer.

Now with the Mayor's new policy that a commissioner can't even defend himself from personal attacks after public commentary of non-agendaed items, it looks like anyone can say just about anything he wants. It's a good thing Ms. Fisher only came within two inches of my face when she screamed at me which could be considered verbal assault. She knew better than to touch me.

You really need to pay attention Mayor and enforce the rules.

The Dais got Muzzled

When Commissioner McVoy asked about responding to the residents after public comments on non-agendaed items, a normal practice that has been going on for at least a decade since I have been attending meetings, the mayor said--

WE'RE FOLLOWING THROUGH on the agenda...normally there is nothing on the agenda nor has there been anything on the agenda that the commission responds to the responses (commentary from the public)...In the last several meetings and the behavior and things that transpired in them were embarrassing as a commission and I am going to revert to what I should have been doing all along, which is following the agenda, said the mayor..

The mayor got legal advice on this one.  The commission was shut right up. Normally it is the public that is given the muzzle. This is one way to get back to the Rules of Decorum at least for the elimination of outbursts from certain commissioners who have screamed their venum at the public. It shouldn't be a fist fight between the dais and the public.

And the mayor is correct--this is the people's time to speak for their two minutes. However, the commission should have the right to answer the public in a respectful way and vice-versa.  The public is there to give its concerns or vocalize its agreement with the elected body on decisions they have made.  We, the public, never get answers from our elected officials or when we do, it's like pulling teeth. Calls and e-mails go unanswered. "Shut the little bastards up." Denying free speech is never the way to solve anything and now this is just one more way to shut the public down.

It's okay for this administration to ruin a citizen's life for using the N word in a room with zero people, but it's not alright for commissioners to address or answer the public after they comment?
