Commissioner Robinson's perspective on guns

Tuesday night's city commission meeting started out with an emotional plea in Herman Robinson's invocation--
"...and I can't not bow my head for our national leaders that need to take responsibility for the arms race that our civilized country's participating in and hope that they can minimize the death and destruction to our civilized nation. Amen.

Next, Herman got political when he talked about guns under his liaison report:
Around 11 minutes and 30 seconds into the meeting he said:
"...regulate AR-15's. I would just want to maybe correspond with the Scottish Rite's people to ask their vendors to limit their gun sales to other than automatic and weapons of war. I think it's important that at this time we do not do nothing and I think that's the only few things we can do very locally to limit the weapons that are killing people."

First of all, we are being assaulted, no pun intended, with so-called ‘experts’ saying the AR-15 is an unnecessary ‘assault rifle’ and that the gun should be banned. The AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle, not an ‘assault rifle’ and there is a difference. As long as it does not have any military features, it is legal. Automatic firearms (such as machine guns), short-barreled shotguns, and short-barreled rifles are illegal.

The Gun show at the Scottish Rite takes place every month.
Currently, the PBAC gun shows accommodate approximately 80 tables, and reflect the quality, variety, and taste of its members. This includes handguns, rifles, shotguns, flare guns, edged weapons, militaria and accessories from many countries and periods.

I contacted this group but at the time of this post, I have not heard back from them as to whether any of the vendors at the gun Show sell assault weapons or any weapon of "war." I would doubt it.

Pastor Colby gave the invocation at our last regular commission meeting. Following is her intro to her invocation:

"Commissioners and Mayor, before I speak, I need to share something with you.

I did not have a clue what was going on here tonight. [changing procedure on invocations] On my way here driving, I asked the Lord and I said, "What is it you want me to pray for, for the city" and He said, "They're going to make a major decision tonight." And the Lord said, "tell them that you will stand before Him one day on this decision...we want the hand of God on this city."

Again, I said I had no clue that this possibly would be the last invocation so a major decision is in your hands before God, right now. So, let's go to the Lord in prayer."

Well, we found out last night--there was not one warrior on the dais who stood up for free speech and this city's history of having an invocation before the meeting. It didn't matter that the Congress of the United States and the Senate leads off every meeting with one.  Oh no, Lake Worth had to be "progressive." And this is why this country is in decline.

The item was pulled from the Consent Agenda for discussion by Christopher McVoy and placed at the end of New Business. I have to say that he tried to debate the subject sensibly. The mayor, who was out sick, called in to join the discussion. She gave her reasons for walking out on atheist Preston Smith because of his remarks found on-line about rape. It was all just another excuse to drive in the nail on the invocation coffin.

Commissioner Amoroso was basically silent on the subject saying at one point that he was just about an atheist himself.  For a moment I saw a glimmer of hope of keeping our invocations as they have been since this city was founded, when Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell asked, "Why are we changing things? I will not roll over for that."

Maxwell's statement was short-lived and full of hot air. Maier saying it would be a "progressive" decision to follow the rotation process where each member on the dais could say his own invocation, have a moment of silent prayer or invite someone of their choosing to give an inspirational message still following the Supreme Court decision that was mentioned by the city attorney--

the commission voted...invocations as we have known them have ended.

This is NOT progressive.  This is just another anti-Christian moment and it happened in our city--influenced by socialists and atheists.  Hell, they even went after the Common Ground Church earlier in the year.

Our city stomped on our Constitution--they threw away Free Speech--they went against 71% of the country who are Christian even though invocations were non-denominational and only inspirational --they joined ISIS in their own narrow-minded way. The vote was 4/1 with McVoy dissenting.

Satan won last night and it's a crying shame.

So, the question is, what will Lake Worth do? Will they too, because of threat of legal suit, change the policy to a moment of silent prayer like Dania Beach, Coral Springs, Deerfield Beach and Delray Beach or stand up to the atheist/satanist like Boca Raton is doing?

I am sure that everyone is sick of this subject by now but it's serious enough to write about it to get the point across. The city of Lake Worth has placed it on the Consent Agenda hoping for little or no discussion. We might not find out how our elected officials think about it--wimp or warrior?

We have a small atheist influence in this city but those believing in a higher Being than themselves far outnumber them.  And for all of you atheists out there who seem to praise the Supreme Court for all its liberal rulings of late, last year on a 5/4 decision it said  that legislative bodies such as city councils can begin their meetings with prayer as long as it's solemn and respectful and even if it plainly favors a specific religion.

As Lake Worth allows representatives from all religions to give an invocation and it is a part of our history, we will find out tonight whether Lake Worth is wimp or warrior...whether sticks and stones really hurt their bones. I think that we already know the answer.

It looks like Lake Worth will be going down Chaz Steven's road. He doesn't believe in turning the other cheek other than slapping it down.

Is the city cowering in fear of another lawsuit? Wringing their hands?  Their solution to the atheists and satanists is to not invite any pastor to give an invocation; the commission will tackle God's word themselves, if they choose, which they probably won't.  A tiny minority has made it into a game of will and the humongous majority of those who believe in God and those who believe in Free Speech, our Constitution, will probably roll over tomorrow night.

On November 10th's Consent Agenda:
9. CONSENT AGENDA: (public comment allowed during Public Participation of Non-Agendaed items)
A. Resolution No. 59-2015 - amend the Commission's Rules of Procedures to include a policy for Invocation and Moment of Silence.

In the back-up Resolution it says: (7) The Invocation or Moment of Silence shall be offered by the Mayor or a member of the Commission on a rotating basis.

Apparently some people are scared of atheist Chaz Stevens as he has requested that he be among those granted to give his "prayer" message before our city commission meetings. The city doesn't acknowledge that this is a game he's been playing all over Florida where he has brought down city governments. He won't have to worry about inclusion now--No one of any faith will be included other than elected officials.  He won't be able to use Lake Worth for his two minutes of shame.

The commission should be tolerant of all beliefs unless they promote voodoo, bodily harm or self sacrifices. But no, now we will have to listen to an elected official. If they vote to eliminate a 2 minute invocation, this WILL be their legacy...the day the city died.

Prayer at City Hall - Satan will Win

Come Tuesday night, we in Lake Worth are about to be putty in the hands of Satan.

The Supreme Court of the United States ruled 5 to 4 that Christian prayers said before meetings of an Upstate New York town council did not violate the constitutional prohibition against government establishment of religion; the justices cited history and tradition. A divided Supreme Court ruled that legislative bodies such as city councils can begin their meetings with prayer, even if it plainly favors a specific religion. That makes sense as Christianity is the prevailing religion in the United States with 171 million or 71%, so most of our invocations are Christian based.

“Ceremonial prayer is but a recognition that, since this Nation was founded and until the present day, many Americans deem that their own existence must be understood by precepts far beyond the authority of government,” Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote for the court’s conservative majority.
 
The Court further stated that a prayer could violate the Constitution if there was an attempt to intimidate, coerce or convert nonbelievers. Our invocations certainly do NOT do that.  And if someone is that offended, they can step out of the room for those two minutes. Read the Washington Post article

This city is so petrified of lawsuits and are heavily influenced by the minorities--socialists and atheists in and around our city. It is sickening to a point of being ridiculous.  We have had invocations since the beginning of this city...just more tradition--more history--being eliminated.  You can throw invocations into the garbage pile along with our shuffleboard courts.

Why does anyone fear an invocation or what Chaz Stevens might do? Just let him speak.

But, oh no, the city has put this item on the Consent Agenda for November 10 in order to eliminate invocations and have a moment of silent prayer.  They are looking for little resistance and that is probably what they will get.

What a joke! Last week, Chaz Stevens asked to give a satanic prayer before the Lake County, Florida commission meeting. This blog has reported on Mr. Stevens. Lake County officially denied his request and now he says that he is going to file a lawsuit.

As we all know, he has threatened suit against Lake Worth.  This is what he says from his own web site:

City Manager Michael Bornstein, a fellow who imbues the “quintessential essence of a lying, governmental hack” and his boss, Mayor McShe’sACunt, were temporarily successful (emphasis temporarily) with this duplicity — their lies, ones I’ve caught ’em dead to right, are of a chilling, discriminatory nature clearly designed to silence my Satanic invocation.

To tell you the truth, I think everyone should be allowed to have their 2 minutes whether it is on an agenda item or in an invocation. However, where I would draw this line would be granting an invitation to someone to speak who has cursed at me, threatened me and has told the world that he plans on "bitch slapping" me [The City of Lake Worth].

He has really gone too far now.  Civil rights or not, he is not the sort of person that the city would want to invite to a funeral in hell. But, I can't stand the fact that we would consider rolling over to Mr. Stevens.  We'll see what the city does on November 10.

It just gets more stupid--Cities around Florida are axing invocations all because of this one man who is really "dicking" them all and having fun doing it. Why are cities falling for this and allowing him to become more powerful, more pompous?

We know now that he is threatening the City of Lake Worth with a civil rights suit. The only thing the city is guilty of is ignoring his request to appear before the commission for two minutes to chant, rant or whatever. If anything, the city has just been impolite. Anyone can threaten anything in today's politically correct world and cities crouch down in fear wanting it all to disappear. I'm starting to have more respect for Stevens.

His recent message:

Dear Ms. Lopez,

I am hereby requesting available dates to give an upcoming atheistic invocation. 

This year's invocation will invoke and summon the great and powerful Egyptian god Horus, whom the Jesus character is largely based upon.

It should be noted that during my last invocation on 12/2/14, Madam Mayor made a discriminatory oversight by failing to address me by name and title, "Preston Smith of American Atheists", as was clearly outlined on the agenda. Whereas, Mayor Triolo has consistently addressed every other invocation speaker by their name and religious affiliation. May I remind Mayor Triolo of the Lake Worth's Civil Rights Act, Section 20-1, which "...desires to secure for its citizens freedom from discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, handicap or marital status and thereby to protect their interest in personal dignity..." (emphasis added).

Please also respond to the following concerns:

During my last invocation on 12/2/14, four out of five commissioners walked out of the room. The lone commissioner who stayed, Christopher McVoy, told the newspapers the walkout was disrespectful and "un-American." The article went on to say, he also found it "weird" that they all marched out at the same time, and wondered if there was any prior discussion amongst the group about their seemingly coordinated action. If there was, that would raise questions about a possible Sunshine Law violation. Two or more commissioners are not supposed to talk to each other about matters that might come up at meetings or official city business without public notice.

More importantly, according to Lake Worth Code of Ordinance, Section 2-248, "A majority of the commissioners constitutes a quorum for the purpose of conducting business..." If a quorum is present, the Council may proceed. In other words, if the walkout happens again and leaves a minority of commissioners in the chambers, I may very well stand there demanding a quorum, therefore calling on the Council to move to recess or adjourn

The latest edition of The Lake Worth Herald is hot off the press...

In it, the editor's brain appears to be the only thing on fire. He is finding fault with the ACLU lawyer who was present at the last city commission meeting who was there reminding the commission of rights of the homeless. The editor has found fault with the homeless and their advocates who remained seated during the invocation and the Pledge to the Flag and on shhhhhh, anarchists. From his editorial one can gather that he and his fantastical political friends believe the anarchists are behind the homeless invasion and fear anarchists to a point of absurdity—some excerpts:

“The real crux is not the homelessness; that’s just an anarchists way of kicking down the door.”

The next outlandish statements were—

Lake Worth has an election coming up and these people will use every opportunity to twist and create falsehoods to sway the vote of Lake Worth Citizens who just want to live their life in Lake Worth. Sitting commissioners, Ryan Maier and Christopher Mcvoy APPEAR to be sympathetic to the anarchists [using the word "appear" gets him off the hook of a lawsuit] and if they get another sympathetic commissioner [sympathetic to what?] in the next election, anarchy could rule Lake Worth.

Think of a Lake Worth with no street lights, completely dark at night.That is the atmosphere they desire. [I believe that this statement is libelous but if not that, OUTRAGEOUS].

Think parks and city streets where it is completely unsafe to visit. A city where going out of your home is extremely dangerous. A Lake Worth the majority of citizens don’t want to see. [Again, SILLY]

Ok, come on, paint graffiti on our building again. [And then after insult after insult, he taunts them to commit vandalism--just more SILLY STUFF]

Please let me remind all of you that 1) Maier and McVoy did not agree or disagree with the homeless or take any stand of any kind, nor did Cara Jennings.  Cara Jennings was there to talk about the Siemens contract, not the homeless. 2) This problem has existed for years and this commission has been in power for years now with the problem  getting worse along with the panhandling. 3) The person that Easton is so scared of owns her own home, she is not homeless, and she was an elected commissioner for two terms. She did not create the homeless situation.

I just wish that our commissioners McVoy and Maier could sue for this defamation.  But it's opinion, and you can get away with just about any lie, twisted as it may be, without  repercussion if you are clever enough.  However, the voters are smarter than some politicos believe even the local press. All the lies didn't win it for them this past March and all their ranting now and silly comments about anarchists won't help them in the future.

If anything is to be learned from our past election, besides having an honest message, it is to honor the people you serve. People before Politics as Ryan Maier said.

Local churches taking security measures

Patrols and security cameras may become the norm at church.  Everyone needs to be "cautious" at this time because of the recent massacre in Charleston.

Pastor Tony Cato is the senior pastor at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Lake Worth. He says before the Charleston tragedy his church was already making changes to their security measures in the way it trains his new deacons. Read about it...

If you recall, on June 16th we had Minister Hopelyn West from this church give the invocation at our city commission meeting. Her message was short lived. What happened minutes later, suggests that some people closed their ears to her message that "prayer can lead the way...everything that will be discussed every decision that will be made...and that all the people be taken into consideration...let it be about the lives of the residents in this community...conduct ourselves in a manner that is appropriate...no disruption, unruly behavior...that we will treat these chambers with the respect..."

There were some residents who showed zero respect that night and the mayor allowed it.

Stevens has vowed to fight them in court if they did not end prayer. Now the City of Deerfield Beach is ending invocations before the commission meetings. What is the world coming to? Ruled by minorities, it is getting asinine.

Every year we have to put up with contentious battles over the separation of church and state when it should be all about joy and giving.

Atheists like Preston Smith come out of the woodwork and rock our little world by opposing nativities and other religious displays on public land or religious invocations at City Hall. Where do Americans really stand on the contentious Constitutional issue?

This blog should be entitled the most insulting quote of the day.  But it's free speech and they're all coming out of the woodwork thanks to our Supreme Court.  Why would anyone worship evil unless they are stark raving mad. Did the Supreme Court say we had to have "mad" men give invocations?  Can't we require a note from their doctor before they are allowed to speak in front of the assembly? :)  I believe that Chaz Stevens is not adhering to satanic commandment numbers 1, 2 & 3 below.

Another doozy by the Lake Worth Herald

It's always such a downer when I get the Lake Worth Herald and read Mark Easton's editorial. You have to wonder if we really both live on the same planet. Today's article was no exception to the lies and political attacks by the Herald that has its own agenda.

Don't bother picking up this issue unless you want to read an editorial full of lies, distortions and fantasy. The Herald continues to deceive by deliberately presenting false assumptions as truth and consequently tries to fool the public by doing so.

Easton even asks if it was Commissioner McVoy or someone else who invited the atheist to Lake Worth to give the invocation when he writes, "This begs the question. Why did Smith pick Lake Worth? Did he [McVoy], or did someone from Lake Worth invite him to town?"

God, where do people come up with this tripe. A better question to ask is why are they allowed to get away with it? But then, this is slimy Lake Worth politics.
