The Political Webs we Weave

Comment Up

Who says you can't mix religion and politics?

On Tuesday, February 17th at 6pm, there is the last regular commission meeting before our March 10th election. The March 3rd commission meeting was cancelled.  There is a Haitian American running for District 2 and "coincidentally" the invocation will be given by a Haitian pastor.

2. INVOCATION: Reverend Elie Louissant, Salem Haitian Evangelical Lutheran Church

Not too much in life is a coincidence and when you're dealing with Lake Worth, you know darn well it's not a coincidence.

There are some amazing coincidental events that have occurred that have been recorded that sort of suggest even divine interception. But I agree, not in LW...way too contrived.

I had someone stop by the other day who gave me her version of the politics of the city. She stated that the real-estate companies and code enforcement have a little deal going in Lake Worth, this is how it works. Property owners and real-estate investors who have rental properties like the run down neighborhoods because they can buy property at a low rate and they ensure that code enforcement selectively chooses what neighborhoods to target, once property is bought up in a neighborhood at a bargain price code enforcement comes in and enforces code violations in attempt to bring up the value of property in the neighborhood and then the investors sell the property at a higher price.

You say she is little nuts, maybe, but it would explain what I have observed between living on North M street and now on North E street.

I will be a little wiser this time around in reading the fine print on whatever proposal the city has.

There is so much corruption in this city, and the elitist like wes, rice, and szerdi are all part of this group of corrupt slumowners who only care about there nice little areas in CP or SP. The hell with the rest of the city. Geesh when will rice run for mayor or a comm? What is next? They think people really respect them? Sleazebags!

At least it is not being given by an Athiest.

Invocations have no place at city meetings.

I believe the invocations are scheduled far in advance of filing dates for the commission seats. But you just got to love conspiracy theories.

Invocations were even given at the first meetings of our founders. They relied heavily on spiritual guidance. They were wise that way.

1:53---yes, I LOVE conspiracy theories and there are so many in this city and county. Never a dull moment and never a lack of material. Thanks for noticing.

80 percent of the conspiracys in this city comes from this Blog and half the people the were at the Beach Club tonight.

10:39--live and learn anonymous. Actually what I write has nothing much to do with theories but cold hard facts. Get involved and find out for yourself.

Lynn, I am very involved in the city, attend almost every commission meeting, go to almost all ribbon cutting, volunteer when it does not conflict with my work schedule, and also volunteer at most City, and Private events. Never miss evening on the Ave. yet in all my involvement I hardly ever see you around. So IMHO it is you that Really Needs To Get More Involved.

Dear very Involved-
So happy for you, anonymous at 11:22. Are you a Senior citizen yet? Over 70?
I guess you have blinders on. I attend EVERY COMMISSION MEETING.
Ribbon cuttings are for those who need the ego trip or their photo in the paper. There are so many ribbon cutting events that they are meaningless when you consider the city is celebrating affordable rentals and keep bragging how wonderful they all look...all politics. When it started out with the NSP2 housing, I attended several...
You are a person who likes to volunteer. Your heart, I would guess is in the right place. Nothing better than to volunteer for people who are less fortunate or to have people pat you on the back for being such a great person. Which is it for you? Try volunteering for a condo association (which I have for the last 13 years) that is loaded with senior citizens and see where that gets you--a full-time job with little thanks.
So, IMO, and it's just not as "humble" as yours, I work on things that interest me. I don't need to ingratiate myself with a certain group of people in power as an example.
Ask the same question to the other 36,900 people who live in the city or to anyone else for whom you just don't see around the Avenue.
So, you are going to be critical no matter what and live under the pretense that wow, everyone loves me because see, I volunteered today, what a great guy I am. Phooey.
Enjoy, and I will be seeing you on the Avenue.
