At the State of the City Address the mayor gave the biggest rah rah speech of her political career and of course, it was right before the election. She even went so far as to tell us that crime was down and everyone wildly cheered. I had to wonder what vacuum they came from. Down from what? Can any politician EVER tell the truth? She wonders why they are not trusted. Why do they want to paint this rosy picture. All you have to do is read the crime reports. Ride down one of our streets and you can see that things are not too sweet. We have so much crime that we can't even see straight. Read the horrible stats.
We are ranked number 35 in 2015 as one of the most dangerous cities in the United States. 35! We used to be number 42! We are getting closer to number 1 every year. We are worse than Miami. As the report illustrates, the highest crime rates are found in areas of high
population density, lower income and – often - lower real estate values than
neighboring communities (and we have all three in Lake Worth). This commission continues to approve of more affordable housing, attracting more and more poor folks, more density, more problems and the cycle continues.

"You can't make this stuff up!"
It's such an incredible disconnect.
PBC PBSO officer posted online anonymously and admitted they try to write up crime w/lesser offenses so it looks like crime is down...
Knowing they do that and we still went up in the stats is terrible! Keep in mind we pay 14M a year for our 'protection' (I hear is mostly pensions) but clearly UN-SUSTAINABLE!
That's what really floors me is all the 'sustainability talk'! They just need a calculator and real numbers to run to tell you what is sustainable and what is not.
Instead they 'run the numbers' (and pay dearly for the study/info) and see how much more money they can get from us in revenue generators!
what do our taxes pay for

REAL ESTATE VALUES......so do you want them to go up or not?? I'm confused
I'm not the least bit surprised that you are confused.
if you want values to go up so you pay more taxes go ahead and write a check to the city now - why wait?
So Lynn by your own numbers we went from 42 to 35 I am no math major, but to that means in down by 7. Just sayin.......
Who says you and your followers don't want to keep Lake Worth poor after comments like above?
After reading you blog, if people didn't live here, who'd want to?
the pbso contract is for $12.1 million per year plus another $3 million we pay for pensions.
You know, I've generally resisted all the complaints about how Sh**tty of a city lw is, but you're right, this place sucks. From reading your blogs and the Tribune, I see how bad it is. I guess I've not wanted to believe it, but the facts are clear. Thanks for opening up my eyes, I'm moving to delray and get eff outta here. Thank you for showing me the truth about lw. Anybody know a good realtor, I need to sell before the place comes crashing down again.
Well, I guess you have been living here with blinders on and not getting involved. Don't go with a Realtor. Choose a nice real estate agent who is honest. there must be a few in LW.
2:46. The top spot is number 1. Are you in public school where they are teaching you Common Core?
What's the difference between a realtor and real estate agent @3:19? Isn't it the same thing?
You have to be a licensed real estate salesman or real estate broker in order to join the National Association of Realtors. It is a membership designation and you pay dues.
Your heights vote was ruled "null and void" by the state of Florida.
The only place you can build any higher than 45 feet is in the "hotel district" which is right around the Gulfstream Hotel by the rules of the Land Development Regulations that took many years to produce. Not downtown, Lake Osborne or Parrot Cove.
Getto and Cara are on the outs. Now their sour grapes. They will do anything to try to get their lost power back. Sorry your just a footnote in history in this town. We have not forgotten how bad it was when they were in power.
Well, of course you can't name one thing other than opening the mentoring Center which was also a Jeff Clemens decision. What else?
This is not about getting lost power back. They were not driven by power or ego trips or lies at all. You are getting your commissions confused, anonymous at 12:41. Still drinking that kool-Aid I see.
Politics changes every 5 years or so. No one is a footnote but I can certainly see why not very many people want to get involved in all this corruptness we have here...lots of nasty people in this city.
The heights vote, and I will say it for the 100th time, can only be decided in court. We won the vote.
"The heights vote, and I will say it for the 100th time, can only be decided in court. We won the vote. " Damn, Lynn. There you go again stating something I agree with although I don't think you've stated it 100 times.
It WAS to be decided in court. You even know the plaintiff. For some strange reason, she dropped the proverbial ball.
I stated many times also that I couldn't wait for a judge to rule on it and I would be very happy either way it comes out. However, that is not the case for those committed to lowering the heights issue. If he/she rules against you, it will be because of corruption, lies, nepotism or some other silly argument you'll adopt as the reason the referendum was ruled null and void.
You all bit her bait. Change happens! Anticipate it! Nourish Lake Worth! She cares more about ruffling your feathers instead of caring for the City. This will be my first and last post on this blog. God bless Lake Worth and it's forward minded citizens
God bless Lake Wroth and all those for whom we elect who will watch out for our treasury and not bankrupt us, or put liens on our property for years and work within a normal budget. God bless all those who work in the Sunshine and are 100% transparent. God bless all those officials who don't believe that the taxpayer owes them a free lunch.
Is that really too much to ask?
Salvation is infinitely costly, but absolutely free.
