Much ado about nothing. This is simply another effort to make the Second Amendment null and void. CNC machines and 3D printing have made replicating a weapon simple and affordable for everyone.
Banning weapons will have little effect on the sale and ownership of guns, as there are simply a never-ending supply. Banning bullets, however, can make weapons as we currently know them obsolete. That is why rednecks, and anyone fearful of government, are storing ammo in unheard of quantities. One hundred thousand to five hundred thousand rounds in a single household is a common occurrence nowadays.
People such as myself smile at people who become apoplectic over the thought of a CNC milling machine making receivers, as we know that the real fight will eventually be over bullets. Limit the sale of brass to third world countries if you really want to do some good in this arena.
