New Restaurant on Lucerne

Rodney Mayo's latest restaurant, at 522 Lucerne Ave., will double as an art gallery celebrating Dadaism.

I admit, had to look up the word 'dadism

Dadaism, or Dada, was an avant-garde art movement that emerged during World War I in Zurich as a protest against the war's horrors, bourgeois societal values, and the logical, capitalist culture they believed led to the conflict. It is often defined as "anti-art" because it purposefully rejected traditional aesthetics and reason.

"SOME OF THE most groundbreaking artists of the 20th century are getting together for dinner and drinks in downtown Lake Worth Beach.

They’ll be hanging out at a new restaurant in the Lucerne Avenue space once occupied by The Cottage and C.W.S. Bar + Kitchen.

And these regulars want you to join them.

Man Ray, the latest addition to Rodney Mayo’s Subculture Group restaurant lineup, is coming together at the northeast corner of Lucerne and L Street. A July opening is planned, but an exact date has not been set."

Lake Worth Beach restaurant on Restaurant of the Year List

Oceano in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, included in restaurants of year list

Details: 512 Lucerne Ave.; 561-400-7418, oceanolwb.com

"Eclectic new American Oceano is the kind of restaurant that quietly sets the tone.

Jeremy and Cindy Bearman, a husband-wife duo with pedigrees from New York City’s ABC Kitchen and db Bistro Moderne, have created a seasonal menu that is technique-forward and expressive.

Jeremy’s savory dishes are composed and confident; standouts have included a vibrant duck salad, delicate waloo crudo, mussels escabeche and expertly prepared American red snapper.

Cindy’s desserts are vivid, layered and unapologetically indulgent.

Oceano’s influence is palpable: When chefs talk about where they actually eat, it’s always part of the conversation. The Bearmans don’t chase buzz, instead they define it, one plate at a time."

Review on the Irish Brigade downtown Lake Worth Beach

"IRISH BRIGADE LAKE WORTH BEACH: You May Want To Skip This Place

We Had A Very Bad Experience. It Turns Out A Health Inspector Did, Too…

LAKE WORTH BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — If you’re looking to smell marijuana and cigarette smoke while dealing with apparently untrained wait and cook staff, you absolutely should eat at The Irish Brigade (621 Lake Avenue, Lake Worth Beach).

If, however, you prefer food that is safe to eat, a civil eating experience, and a wait and cookstaff that at least borders on professionalism, we suggest that you go somewhere else.

A health inspector reporting to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation just cited The Irish Brigade for multiple violations. We list those, below. But we had an experience at The Irish Brigade on Saturday that seemingly verifies what the health inspector found."

Vanilla Ice to build restaurant and brewery on Lake Avenue

Rapper and reality TV star Vanilla Ice is working on a new project in Lake Worth Beach

Once complete, people will be able to enjoy an "Ice Cold" beer at his new brewery.

It'll feature family dining, a speakeasy with a secret code and exclusive entrance, a rooftop bar with palm trees and view of the beach, and a pop culture museum.

"Pop culture mimicked the music," said Vanilla Ice. "Now you can't really dress Tik Tok like anything that's online so the fashion disconnected from the music. So, this is going to showcase some of the things that impacted the world in pop culture from Muhammad Ali to the Beatles, to Elvis, but some of my greatest like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

Vanilla Ice said the new brewery is at the center of resurging arts district along Lake Avenue with million dollar condos nearby and will be located at 1000 Lake Avenue.

Pomona Restaurant opens on Lake Avenue

Owners of popular Ravish open Pomona in downtown Lake Worth Beach

Pomona is located in the heart of the city in a historic 1926 building at the corner of Lake Avenue and J Street.

The spot is the former location of Lula's by Todd English, an Italian-inspired steakhouse, which closed after opening in October 2024.

With Pomona they are working to "deliver a concept that's a little bit more elevated, but still approachable." That factor was applied to their pricing as well. Dupuis said they want to keep things in the affordable range and that for a couple an average price for dinner would be in the $50 to $60 range.

Though they had their soft opening in mid-August, they are planning their official grand opening for Aug. 28.

Oceanwalk Restaurant at the Lake Worth Casino

Benny’s on the Beach seeking $50,000 rent waiver from LWB during Oceanwalk renovation closure

BENNY’S ON THE BEACH is planning about $400,000 in renovations to its Oceanwalk restaurant at the Lake Worth Beach Casino complex, work that will close the restaurant from Labor Day until mid to late October, interim City Manager Jamie Brown said.

The restaurant is asking city officials to waive two months of Oceanwalk’s lease payments, roughly $50,000, “since they will be closed and have no revenue coming in,’’ he said.

When Brown mentioned the rent-waiver request at a pre-agenda work session June 27, a majority of city commissioners voiced support for approving it:
  • “Benny’s brings so much. They're like our big attraction. I would allow that to happen as a courtesy,’’ Mayor Betty Resch said.
  • “This business is a good city partner,’’ said Vice Mayor Sarah Malega. “They have a good track record. I think that’s a good return on investment.’’
  • Commissioner Chris McVoy indicated he would vote against the request when it’s formally presented to the commission later this summer.
  • Commissioner Mimi May said she would support the request if it’s limited to a specific timeframe.
Although there was no quote from Commissioner Anthony Segrich, Commissioner McVoy confirmed that he was the only one who voted "no."

Boycott Backfires!

Barista’s Quit New York Cafe Over Israel Support, Customers Line Up Around The Block To Show Support

An Upper East Side café where baristas quit in protest over the Jewish owner’s support of Israel is now busier than ever with customers lined up around the block to show their support.

The owner of Caffe Aronne, Aaron Dahan, was left short-staffed Tuesday morning after his baristas quit on him when he addressed the ‘Free Palestine‘ pins they wore to work.

Dahan, 25, said a total of five baristas walked out since the October 7 terrorist attack in Israel, in which Hamas slaughtered 1,400 Israelis and kidnapped more than 200 civilians – including at least 13 American citizens and 23 Thai Farm workers.

This comes as gangs of pro-Palestinian thugs smashing windows at Starbucks and releasing mice in McDonald’s are being whipped by an anti-Israeli boycott movement spreading across social media.

The business owner displayed an Israeli flag at the café and started a fundraiser for Magen David Adom, the Israeli Red Cross.

Lake Worth High Graduate to take over Taboo site

Thomas Keller is coming home

The award-winning chef and restauranteur will be taking over the space previously occupied by Ta-boo, which closed last Sunday after 82 years in business.

And for some trivia--He opened the famous French Laundry in 1994, the place where Newsom dined during Covid.

During the Covid period, The French Laundry received more than $2.4 million from the Paycheck Protection Program in April, according to ABC7's Stephanie Sierra and Lindsey Feingold. Both PPP loans were approved on April 30 and went toward retaining a total of 168 staff members, the publication reports. ABC7 said the French Laundry's PPP loan total was 17 times more than the average restaurant in California's Bay Area received. Read about it

Laura Saldarriaga, a publicist for Keller's restaurants, confirmed to WPTV on Thursday that the 67-year-old chef will open a new restaurant at the Palm Beach Taboo site.

Taboo was served with an Eviction Notice

Ta-boo faces eviction, but owner intends to fight it

Landmark Palm Beach restaurant open since 1941

This was the place to go when I worked in Palm Beach for 25 years and it has served some of Palm Beach's elite since its opening before World War II, including residents Rod Stewart and James Patterson. Other celebrities to have dined there include Frank Sinatra and former President John F. Kennedy. Kevin McCarthy was there too! And I had a wedding dinner there!

And they had a great bar full of fun people at Happy Hour when I used to frequent Taboo.
But restaurant owner Franklyn de Marco told the Palm Beach Daily News that he and his attorneys are contesting the eviction by the building's owner.

"Based on our understanding, this eviction isn't valid," de Marco told the newspaper.

A representative for the building's owner told the newspaper that Ta-boo's lease expired at the end of April 2022 and the rent hasn't been paid since.

It will be really sad if Taboo closes.

Benny's on the Beach Oceanwalk

How Hurricane Ian inspired Benny’s on the Beach to add a second LWB restaurant

As a result, the partners decided to expand Benny’s on the Beach by adding a second restaurant at the city-owned casino and beach complex, just a 2 minute walk from the original Benny’s on the pier.

The newest Benny’s — called Benny’s on the Beach Oceanwalk — opened Dec. 23 at 10 S. Ocean Blvd. in a spot previously occupied by Viva La Playa, a Latin-themed restaurant operated by Lee Lipton and his partners since 2020. (Before 2020, the space housed Mulligan's Beach House Bar and Grill since October 2012.)

This was a smart move as the name Benny's on the Beach is renowned.

Big Beaner Restaurant

A Restaurant Is About To Open Its Doors, And Liberals Are Dragging Them Hard Over Their Name…

Liberals find something to always complain about. It never stops with this woke group.

In a new Mexican restaurant in Amarillo named Big Beaners, the word “beaner” is a racial slur with a long and ugly history, critics claimed.

Soon after Jesse Quackenbush opened his business, he met opposition from some segments of the public who claimed the Big Beaners name was offensive.

With this, Quackenbush was forced to respond after officials with the Amarillo branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), as well as the Texas League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), expressed their concerns regarding the naming of his new restaurant.

His restaurant specializes in Bean Dishes from from Latin America. So what better logo and name?

McDonalds

I used to go to McDonalds on Dixie Highway when my Mom took my brother and me as young children. It was a special treat. They had the absolute best french fries in the world and we loved their burgers.

When I was in my mid to late 20's, I stopped by there on my way home from work to buy my grandfather a bag of their fries...he loved them as much as I.

So it is with shock and dismay that they were recently closed on August 9 by the DBPR for live and dead roaches, live insects, etc. Eight violations were found. McDonalds reopened that day.
