Rep. Eugene Vindman cursed at transgender activists and stormed out of a Virginia town hall
First-term Democratic congressman Eugene Vindman exchanged profanities with transgender activists at a town hall in King George County, Virginia, then walked out, exposing the party's deepening rift over gender policy even as polls show most Americans, including most Democrats, reject its activist wing's demands.Three transgender activists confronted Vindman at the King George County event, demanding he reverse course on his support for GOP-backed limits on gender-related school policies.
Vindman, who represents a competitive Virginia district and is running for reelection, tried to defend his vote for a Republican-sponsored bill requiring parental notification when schools change a child's gender designation on official documents.
The exchange escalated fast. An unnamed transgender committee member shouted at Vindman to "shut the f*** up." Vindman fired back and headed for the exit.
On his way out, Vindman told the activists: "You can't f***ing talk to me that way." He later issued a written apology.
Vindman voted for the parental-notification bill, and his base made him pay.
