January 6th defendants anticipate pardons from Trump

After President Trump's historic comeback, will there be pardons for the January 6th prisoners? Some who were convicted over the Capitol riot are already preparing for that possibility.

Multiple January 6th protesters have asked the courts to pause their cases as they await a potential reprieve from the president-elect, the Daily Caller reported.

Throughout the 2024 campaign, Trump often defended the January 6th participants as patriots who have been treated unfairly by the justice system.

Over 1,500 people have been charged in the Justice Department's investigation, and more than 1,000 have already been sentenced. Trump has floated pardons for some of those who entered the Capitol, many of whom were non-violent.

“I am inclined to pardon many of them. I can’t say for every single one, because a couple of them, probably they got out of control,” Trump told a CNN town hall in 2023.

Days before the election, January 6 participants are still being sentenced to prison. Troy Weeks was just sentenced to 21 months in federal prison. Weeks wasn’t the only Jan. 6 protester to face repercussions in the last week, just days before the 2024 election.

"I can’t even express how frustrating it is to see that the corrupt, Soros-backed district attorney in New York actually got a grand jury to indict President Trump over this stupid nonsense.

Democrats are planning something, you can believe that. I think that they’re trying to instigate another problem to try and disrupt the elections once again. They want to cause another riot and gaslight Republicans once again because we’re mad about what they’re doing.

They have this attitude that being mad about something is unacceptable if you’re a Republican. “Mad about the election? You must hate America. Mad about Trump’s indictment? You must hate our justice system.” It’s ridiculous!

Well, conservatives may not take this one lying down. One group has basically declared war…though it’s unclear who the war is against. The New York Young Republican Group issued a statement following Trump’s indictment."

The United Constitutional Patriots, an armed group of civilians, took their weapons and held more than 300 migrants hostage at gunpoint after they caught them illegally crossing the southern border into the United States. The armed militia detained these people in the Sunland Park area of the state.

A group spokesman months ago said, "We are simply there because President [Donald] Trump declared a national emergency on the border we came down to find out what that emergency is. We are sitting here right now and we're doing what we need to do."
