$20 bucks an hour!

Pizza Hut Operators in California Lay Off All Delivery Drivers

After Gov. Newsom Raises Minimum Wage For Fast-Food Workers

Thank a Democrat.

Two major Pizza Hut operators in California will be laying off all of their delivery drivers thanks to a new law that raises the minimum wage to $20 per hour for fast food employees.

In September California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) signed a law raising the minimum wage for fast-food workers to $20 per hour. “Eighty percent of the workforce, these fast food places – 80 percent of people of color, two thirds…are women, the majority are breadwinners and we have the opportunity to reward that contribution, reward that sacrifice and stabilize an industry in turn. What a remarkable moment,” Newsom said in September during the bill signing.

Raising the Minimum Wage

Liberal City Gets Dose of Reality After Raising Minimum Wage to $19.50/Hour

If you were an employer in Portland, Maine, you were likely not ringing in the New Year with nearly as much gusto as the rest of the country.

At 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 1, the minimum wage in Portland jumped to $19.50 per hour, up from $12.15 the day before, the National Law Review reported.

The hike, which the Wall Street Journal (and anyone else with a lick of sense) called "destructive," was triggered by a city ballot referendum approved by Portland voters in November 2020. The measure will raise the minimum wage in stages to $15 by 2024 and was already going to make the minimum wage $13 on Jan. 1.

Biden "Leadership" in Question

Biden Forced to Intervene as Democrats Stage Revolt Against Biden's Progressive COVID 'Relief' Bill

On Friday, Manchin led a group of seven Democrats and one independent to vote against raising the minimum wage to $15 — and it took a personal phone call from President Joe Biden to keep Manchin in the fold.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, such a move would cost Americans approximately 1.4 million jobs. In 2020, the U.S. lost nearly 10 million jobs because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a CNBC report.

Dems approve bill for $15 an hour Minimum Wage

Democrats Approve Bill FORCING 3.7 Million American’s Into Unemployment…Just To ‘Even The Odds’ Against Trump!

Democrats in the House successfully passed a bill that would force 1 to 3 million people to lose their jobs because liberals can’t do math.

Read about it... As Dan Crenshaw says, Here is what a $15 minimum wage means: According to CBO, up to 3.7 million jobs lost. So while some workers will get a small increase in pay, up to 3.7 million will get a 100% decrease in pay. This is poorly devised one-size-fits-all policy that costs people 100% of their job.

The fast food industry already has a very tight profit margin. A big increase in the minimum wage would result in a reduction in labor costs and/or raise prices of their products.

Florida's Minimum Wage to rise January 1

More money in your pocketbook Floridians

The increase brings the minimum wage in the state from $8.25 to $8.46 per hour. Florida's minimum wage is $1.21 higher than the Federal minimum wage for 2019, which is $7.25 per hour.

Tipped employees' wages also go up.

When minimum wages go up, it can trigger increases for other workers as well.

The Minimum Wage

"A new study from the Employment Policies Institute found that a $15 minimum wage in California could trigger the loss of more than 400,000 private-sector jobs, decimating California’s workforce. Even that estimate, the study warned, is conservative.” Starting in 2018, tipped employees must be paid a minimum of $7.25 an hour. The federal wage for tipped employees is currently at $2.13 an hour with the employer making up the difference to $7.25.

In this new study, Dr. David Macpherson of Trinity University and Dr. William Even of Miami University measure the empirical effects of minimum wage increases in California from 1990 to the present, and estimate the impact of California’s current minimum wage law.

Trump, Carson and Rubio on Raising the Minimum Wage

Cost of Living Index 2017

I'm going to bring jobs back from China, Mexico Japan, Vietnam. They are taking our jobs. They are taking our wealth. We have $2.5 trillion offshore. We're going to bring that money back. You take a look at what happened just this week, China bought the Chicago Stock Exchange. Nabisco and Ford, they're all moving out. We have an economy that last quarter didn't grow. We have to make our economy grow again. Source: 2016 CBS Republican primary debate in South Carolina , Feb 13, 2016

Q: Picketers have gathered demanding an immediate hike in the minimum wage to $15 an hour. Are you sympathetic to the protesters?

DONALD TRUMP: I can't be. We are a country that is being beaten on every front economically & militarily. There is nothing that we do now to win. We don't win anymore. [If our] wages are too high, we're not going to be able to compete against the world. I hate to say it, but we have to leave it the way it is. People have to work really hard and have to get into that upper stratum. But we can not do this if we are going to compete with the rest of the world. We just can't do it.

Q: So do not raise the minimum wage?

TRUMP: I would not do it.

BEN CARSON: Every time we raise the minimum wage, the number of jobless people increases.

MARCO RUBIO: If I thought that raising the minimum wage was the best way to help people increase their pay, I would be all for it, but it isn't. If you raise the minimum wage, you're going to make people more expensive than a machine. Source: Fox Business/WSJ First Tier debate , Nov 10, 2015

Military Pay vs. Illegal's minimum wage

Comment Up

While shouting that the minimum wage for illegal aliens working at McDonalds should be $15 an hour, President Obama used a loophole in the US Code to deter a pay raise to the military, says Allen West.

As Reported By Truth And Action:
The lower pay increase translates to a Pay Grade E-4 (Corporal, Petty Officer 3d Class, Specialist 4, Senior Airman) with less than three years in service will earn less than $3.00 an hour. Under the 2016 pay scale, a Pay Grade E-1 undergoing recruit training will be paid roughly $2.15 an hour.

And while you're at it, ask Bernie Sanders who wants to raise the minimum wage as well as every worker joining Unions, if the unions will protect our United States military who is protecting him.

Soon, you too could be replaced by a Robot

Ok now, all you liberals crying that the minimum wage must go to $15 an hour...what about that hamburger you eat at McDonalds or Burger King?  What about that baked potato at Wendy's?  What could they all cost you if wages were forced to rise to $15? And even worse, what could it cost you if your job was replaced by a robot?

While we are trying to create jobs in the U.S, (a lot of illegals are taking American jobs), China is replacing workers with robots. On top of that, the U.S. is building up China's economy at the expense of our own by humongous one-sided imports.

Lake Worth - Catering to the developers and the poor?

Comment Up
A three story building four stories tall
and close to the road

The city commission says that this is "cool."  They say it is not "affordable" housing but "workforce" housing. Please note that Workforce housing is generally understood to mean affordable housing for households with earned income that is insufficient to secure quality housing in reasonable proximity to the workplace. Source:  Wikipedia.

So what we will be getting folks is MORE affordable housing within the City of Lake Worth and more rentals in a city with over 60% rentals now.  The commission thinks this is great stuff because the way it stands at the moment, the city, instead of the CRA, will get the ad valorem from this project unlike the rest of the six suggestions that have been proposed by the consultant they hired to figure out how to build on every square inch of dirt in this city.

What do they care? This is in the far western end of the community, an area they won't have to drive by, look at or even visit. We, across the lake, will be reminded every day as it is in full view. We have more poor in America today than we did 40 years ago. The government, by not enforcing its immigration laws and ignoring our borders, encourage illegal immigrants who, for the most part, are only qualified for minimum pay jobs. Raising the minimum wage will not help these people and the cycle grows.

According to Salon, We’re not sure how to handle the fact that a quarter of people who have jobs today make so little money that they also receive some form of public assistance, or welfare – a proportion that’s much higher in some of the fastest-growing sectors of the workforce. Or that 60 percent of able-bodied adult food-stamp recipients are employed. We are becoming a nation of poor by choice and Lake Worth is inadvertently contributing to the problem.

Senate Bill 456 and House Bill 385 - Florida Minimum Wage

It's always the Democrats.

Presented right at a time when Governor Rick Scott has been working over-time and has a full court press to attract businesses to our State that will provide jobs, Florida Democrats Cynthia Stafford and Dwight Bullard want to raise Florida's  minimum wage from $7.93 to $10.10 an hour.  Also in their bill is raising the sub-minimum wage for waitresses and restaurant servers from $4.91 to $10.10 as well. Does that mean that I won't have to tip 20% anymore?

Whatever is done, the state's minimum wage has to rise with the rate of inflation according to the Florida Constitution.  But with Democrats, where there's a will, there's a way especially when Obama came out in November, approving that figure.

19 States to raise Minimum Wage

Comment Up

According to the Employment Policies Institute, the following is a list of states and counties that will be implementing a minimum wage increase next week . Those in favor say that by raising the minimum wage, it will generate economic growth.  Those opposing it say that small businesses will suffer and people will have a harder time finding jobs.
  • Arizona: $7.80 to $7.90
  • Colorado: $7.78 to $8.00
  • Connecticut: $8.25 to $8.70
  • Florida: $7.79 to $7.93
  • Missouri: $7.35 to $7.50
  • Montana: $7.80 to $7.90
  • New Jersey: $7.25 to $8.25
  • New York: $7.25 to $8.00
  • Ohio: $7.85 to $7.95
  • Oregon: $8.95 to $9.10
  • Rhode Island: $7.75 to $8.00
  • Vermont: $8.60 to $8.73
  • Washington State: $9.19 to $9.32
  • Albuquerque, N.M.: $8.50 to $8.60
  • Bernalillo County, N.M.: $8.00 to $8.50
  • San Francisco, Calif.: $10.55 to $10.74
  • San Jose, Calif.: $10.00 to $10.15
  • SeaTac, Wash.: $9.19 to $15.00
Source: Opposing Views

It looks like SeaTac is the city in which to live especially if you work at the airport. Transportation and hospitality workers there who total around 6,000, will have their minimum wage raised by 63%. Those who put fuel in jets are now fueling the fire for higher minimum wages for all unskilled workers that could catch on in cities across America.

SeaTac is home to over 900 licensed businesses, nearly 80 of which are "Fortune 1000" companies. These entities employ nearly 40,000 employees in the City of SeaTac and generate total local sales of approximately $3.7 billion. Wikipedia.  With the minimum wage rising by that much, even though it would pertain only to a particular set of workers, you can well imagine how this will affect prices and the push for all workers across the board in all industries to have an increase that is comparable. The unions will make sure of it. This will set the tone for a national conversation on hiking the minimum wage in every state...it is the can of worms.

With a population of 27,000 in 10 square miles and 2,682 people per square mile in SeaTac, the average family income is right at $50,000 a year. This city has similar demographics to Lake Worth and many illegal aliens; they just have higher incomes. An illegal alien just needs a Mexican or Guatemalan ID and a garbage bill to obtain a driver’s license in Washington State. So, SeaTac is raising the minimum wage, thanks to the big push by the Unions that will scarf all these people into their fold, to raise the standards of living for the illegal alien and unskilled worker.

A great article written by Daniel Martin Gray of the Washington Times says, "Eleven million admitted illegal aliens is almost 4 percent of total American population. How many millions of new citizens voting big government benefits for themselves would it take to entirely overwhelm the rest of us? Where is the demographic tipping point that makes America a one-party, tin-pot, third-world despotism? Concentrated in cities with corrupt voting practices, would anyone but progressives ever win office again?"

This has all been a sneak attack that has escalated in recent years thanks to socialists, liberal Democrats and Obama. Isn't America a great country--land of the free?

Consequences of Minimum Wage Laws

Two nights ago, Obama advocated raising the minimum wage to $9 an hour by year 2015, up from $7.25.  Can you even imagine the problems we will have at our borders with hoards of immigrants looking for work?  Milton Friedman, economist and the twentieth century's most prominent advocate of free markets, spoke about minimum wage.
