I will never forget the day when I went into a nursing home here in Lake Worth and my grandfather who was in his 80"s was lying on a cold floor. We never knew for how long? My mother used to go daily to make sure he was ok and she would bathe him at the facility. Ever since then, I have a bad feeling about these facilities.

Over 3.2 million adults live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities in the U.S. As many as 40 percent of all adults will enter a nursing home at some point during their lives and as the U.S. population ages, the number of nursing home residents is expected to grow. Many of these elders are well-cared for but many may be the victims of abuse.

"The workers' union says higher pay will lead to better patient care, though many nursing home workers are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Each year, tens of thousands of nursing home residents are seriously injured or die in facilities that promise to care for them. Our mission is to stop the abuse and end the cycle driven by negligence and greed. Anyone who abuses a senior citizen in a nursing home or assisted living facility needs to be held accountable for their sinister actions."

Higher wages might help eradicate the abuse but nothing is guaranteed. "Staff members that are frustrated, exhausted, or manipulative may harm the residents they’re supposed to care for. A 2020 study from the WHO found that over 64% of nursing home staff members admitted to committing some form of abuse or neglect." [NursingHomeabuse.org]

If you need to have a loved one admitted to a nursing home, be sure you live nearby so that you can monitor their care. I will never forget when my grandfather was in a Lake Worth Nursing Home on 6th Avenue South and I found him on the cold floor, no cover under or over him. I was told they were planning on making his bed.

The prosecutor for New Macomb County, Peter Lucido, has his staff working hard to type up criminal charges against the Michigan Governor, Gretchen Whitmer. She was caught red handed in a nursing home death cover up.

The far-left leaning Governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer is taking an inferno of heat over the way she handled Covid deaths in nursing homes. Just like New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Big awards going on in Lake Worth lately. Just last week the city commission awarded $1.6 million to Greater Bay LLC for non-performance at our Lake Worth beach...the city said it had a 50/50 chance of winning the case. Of course, when the suit was taken on three years ago, it was said to be a "slam dunk."

Now we have another case. This one involved a death at the nursing home once operating under the name Lake Worth Manor on 12th Avenue South. Prior to that in 2010, their was a different suit filed that charged that the nursing home engaged in racketeering to defraud Medicare and Medicaid and preyed on vulnerable adults. The suit said that Lake Worth Manor failed to provide adequate treatment to patients or improperly kept them until they developed other diseases that could restart government payments.

Lake Worth Manor located at 12 Avenue South and directly across from S F Street, is in the news—defrauding Medicare and Medicaid and preying on the elderly.

It's bad enough to be old, but old, sick and abused is even worse. Nothing surprises me when it comes to nursing homes. I worked for a man years ago in Palm Beach who owned a string of nursing homes. I always suspected it was just a cash cow type of business with the government picking up the “padded” bills.

Lake Worth Manor was where JFK sent my Mom right after a stroke. She was there for a few months where she got worse, never to recover. It, of course, may be all coincidental but I have ill feelings for this nursing home as well as nursing homes in general. Don’t ever send a loved one to a nursing home if you can have any other alternative. They, for the most part, are nasty places. Also, don't take a hospital's recommendation. Check out the facility for yourself. For the elderly, you are ignored and in some cases, abused. You are there to die. You are a dollar sign only. If you don’t have a family member looking after you day and night, chances of death are quicker.

This particular facility is one of the worst around having a 1 star rating. It is in the bottom 20% of all nursing homes in the area. On the outside, it looks great. Even the interior is nice. The rooms are spacious and the food was good back in 2004. The problem I had was that there was never anyone around or concerned enough to do the basics for the patients. Ringing that little buzzer on the bed was totally ignored.
