'I have a grenade': Lawyer cuffed, charged for threatening pro-life protesters

Police confirm suspect had explosive 'held up in the air and was seen [waving] it around'

A church congregant, who for now remains a lawyer, is facing a long list of criminal counts for allegedly pulling a fake grenade out of his pocket and threatening pro-life activists with it.

A report at the Myrtle Beach, S.C., Sun News explained it is Richard Meredith Lovelace Jr. who is facing four counts of waving a hollowed-out hand grenade in front of pro-life protesters at St Anne's Episcopal Church.

After the threats, he shortly was handcuffed and arrested by police in Conway, and a day later he was released from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $15,000 bail.

"I thought Mr. Lovelace was coming up to me to have a conversation, and when he came up, he pulled out of his pocket this hand grenade, and he said, 'I have a gift for you protesters,'" said Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust South Carolina team lead Jessica Newell. "And I was just so confused, and everybody was scared, and so we just called the police immediately to get that investigated."

Lovelace is on video telling activists that the grenade is "for y'all."

Legal watchdog launches ad campaign in Massachusetts defending pro-life centers from state attacks

CV NEWS FEED // The American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) is launching an ad campaign, “Choice Begins Here,” promoting pregnancy resource centers in Massachusetts after the state published a series of ads targeting these centers.

The Nashville Publicity Group wrote in a press release published by Christian Newswire that the state began a taxpayer-funded advertisement campaign in late 2024 against pregnancy resource centers (PRCs), depicting these life-saving centers as deceptive and dangerous.

“Since the Massachusetts campaign was launched more than six months ago,” the ACLJ writes, “the state hasn’t received a single complaint about PRCs that would back up their claims.”

The ACLJ’s campaign will use outdoor, streaming, and digital advertising to reach out to pregnant women and let them know that abortion is not the only option.

Trump Pardons 23 Pro-Life Activists Ahead of March for Life

The protesters were convicted for blocking the entrances of abortion clinics

President Donald Trump has pardoned 23 pro-life demonstrators who were convicted under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, commonly referred to as the FACE Act.

“Twenty-three people were prosecuted. They should not have been prosecuted,” Trump told reporters while signing the series of pardons on Jan. 23.

“Many of them are elderly people. They should not have been prosecuted. This is a great honor to sign this.”

Trump said it was “ridiculous” that some of the 23 protesters were in prison.

“There is no question these prosecutions were political,” Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a statement. “Even ex-FBI director Chris Wray admits the overwhelming majority of abortion-related threats and violence since Dobbs is directed at pro-life Americans—not done by them. We look forward to the end of Biden’s anti-life discrimination under Attorney General Pam Bondi.”

Man accused of attacking pro-life activist with pepper spray

A man has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery in a public place, a Class 2 felony, along with a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct after police say he pepper-sprayed a pro-lifer praying in front of a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Waukegan, Illinois.

According to Lake and McHenry County Scanner, police have charged Robert Outland with the crime, which occurred on the morning of September 18. If found guilty at trial, Outland could receive up to seven years in prison.

Reports say police were called to the area across the street from the Planned Parenthood facility on N. Lewis Ave., where pro-life advocates with the 40 Days for Life campaign were gathered.

At the time, Outland was harassing the pro-lifers, ripping down their signs and kicking their table. The victim attempted to intervene, putting himself between Outland and the other pro-lifers who were present, when Outland pulled out pepper spray and sprayed it in the victim's face.

Two elderly pro-life activists were shockingly attacked outside a Baltimore, Maryland, Planned Parenthood clinic last week. John Roswell informed Lifesite News in an email that 80-year-old Dick Schafer and 73-year-old Mark Crosby were severely injured.

Schafer was able to make a recovery at home, while Crosby is currently being treated in the University of Maryland’s shock trauma facility for a large hematoma, hyphemia, head and neck pain, and a broken bone in his upper right cheek. Additionally, Crosby’s right eye was swollen shut from the blood dripping from his eye socket, forehead, and nose.

You really have to wonder why anyone would be that vicious to attack anyone, much less the elderly, for their peaceful protest of supporting life. These people find no problem in killing babies up to the time of birth and beyond...they are killers so I would suppose it not unreasonable to assume they would attack two senior citizens nearly killing one of them.

The Justice Department has been targeting pro-life activists through the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act as a response to the overturn of Roe v. Wade, according to Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta.

Gupta delivered remarks at the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division’s 65th Anniversary earlier this month. The associate attorney general described the overturn of Roe v. Wade as a “devastating blow to women throughout the country” that took away “the constitutional right to abortion” and increased “the urgency” of the DOJ’s work—including the “enforcement of the FACE Act, to ensure continued lawful access to reproductive services.”

Last year, Vanita Gupta became the first Indian-American to be associate attorney general and the first civil rights lawyer to occupy any of the top three posts at the US Justice Department. RINO Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski broke away from her party colleagues to support Gupta (46), giving the Democrats 51 votes to see her through the historic confirmation.
