The Gang of Five and Sunshine Law

Comment Up
Have you ever heard of a "gang bang?"  Perhaps a kinder term would be "strength in numbers." But these commissioners are trying to get grant money to fix our roads and are doing everything within their power to do just that.

Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell was asked this question by one of his constituents...why were these commission meetings cancelled right before the March election?  His method of operation is to forward the e-mail inquiry on to someone else to answer.  In that way, nothing he says is in writing and he can't be held accountable for the explanation and he can't be challenged. The burden has been transferred.

Subject: RE: Commission meetings March 3 meeting was cancelled due to 4 elected officials plus the City Manager being in Tallahassee during PBC Day to solicit for grant funding.

March 10 work session was cancelled due to the Municipal General Election and the Clerk and Records & Information Manager are required to be present to accept ballots at City Hall after the polls close and I’ll deliver them along with a PBSO escort to the SOE’s Riviera Beach center.

The above poses the question, how many lawyers does it take to screw in a light bulb? Originally it was four commissioners along with the city manager driving in the same car to Tallahassee. And we're to assume that they won't be talking about city business during that long drive in some rented van?  Last night it was stated that Christopher McVoy will fly to Tallahassee and Mayor Triolo will be taking her own car. And what happened to Richard Pinsky, our Tallahassee lobbyist?

Registration to attend the event, where you might possibly rub shoulders with your state legislator with a remote chance of getting a grant (as these guys will be talking to hundreds of people), ends today, February 18. The fee is $125 per person with a minimum hotel stay of two nights at $179 a night at The Aloft or $204 a night at the DoubleTree. Palm Beach County Day in Tallahassee begins with registration late in the day on March 3 or from 7:30 to 10:00am on March 4.

Proposed Schedule
Tuesday, March 3, 2015
4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.... Registration at Aloft hotel
8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m..Hospitality Suite in W XYZ Lounge at Aloft
Wednesday, March 4, 2015
7:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m..Registration at Aloft hotel
7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.... Breakfast in W XYZ Lounge at Aloft
8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.... Exhibits in the Capitol Rotunda
Noon - 1:30 p.m........... PBC Day Luncheon on 22nd Floor of Capitol
8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m..Hospitality Suite in W XYZ Lounge at Aloft

This is a seven hour car ride. The devotion displayed by our commissioners to drive for all that time is to be commended.  City Attorney, Glen Torcivia, said it was not a Sunshine law violation just as long as they did not discuss any city business.  Of course, they are going up there in order to DISCUSS CITY BUSINESS.

Can you even imagine that they won't be talking about city business?  Perception IS reality.

Commissioner Amoroso needs to keep it classy. He is the one who started it all. If you're going to accuse someone of something, make sure that they actually said it.

TOB is known for imposters using others names to post inflammatory comments!

I've caught Weetha Peebull imposter comments and I haven't posted a thing there in nearly a year!

I am flattered as this person or persons stumble all over the Constitution! The 'lil Constitution booklets I hand out are under 50 pages (including the Declaration of Independence & Bill of Rights) and they have such obvious trouble...chucky chuckles as I fondly refer to it!

Katie Mcgiveron here. It was very shocking to be talking to Andy about one subject only to have him launch into a string of profanity right there in the Commission chambers! Andy, like the rest of our elected officials really doesn't care one way or the other about anyone other than himself.Andy you owe me an apology.Stop laughing everybody. I know, and I'm not holding my breath.

Interesting observation...tob must be dead because the usual & customary commenters seem bored and desperate to find a platform people actual read and look forward to the rest of the story! It's obvious they are stressing when any normal person would do what I've done - stop posting comments if you don't like the blog - You Are STILL Free to Go Away - no one forces you to read or like this blog!

Actually, yes I can believe that they are capable of driving together without violating any sunshine laws.

Anon at 7:08- I think that the Commission and city manager are lying thru their pointy little teeth. You think they're angels that can do no wrong. We'll never know which one of us is right.Perception is everything. The Sunshine law was put in place so that I wouldn't have to think that my Commissioners are Warren Newel clones and you wouldn't have to defend them.
