American Tech Workforce Act of 2021

RSC Chair Jim Banks Introduces "American Tech Workforce Act" to Reform H-1B, End OPT

Big Tech is setting aside some of the most lucrative and valuable career opportunities in America, and giving them exclusively to foreign guest workers. They’re cutting Americans out to save a few bucks. It’s domestic outsourcing. This shocking disregard for American workers and their role in our nation’s future is unpatriotic. We must fix Big Tech’s incentives so they begin putting Americans first.

Rosemary Jenks, Director of Government Relations for Numbers USA, said:
[The bill] would help ensure that Big Tech companies can no longer use the H-1B program as a cheaper alternative to hiring American workers, which would also protect foreign workers who are too often exploited by unscrupulous employers. This bill is an opportunity for all Representatives to make clear that they stand with American workers.

H-2B visas on hold

DHS halts plan to issue 35,000 extra guest worker visas amid massive unemployment claims

In a big win for American workers, especially those who are most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Trump Administration announced on Thursday that it was putting on hold a plan to issue 35,000 additional H-2B visas this spring to low-skilled foreign workers.

The move was a result, in part, of your tremendous activism efforts. NumbersUSA activists flooded the White House with messages, urging Pres. Trump to put the additional H-2B visas on hold.

Adding to the onslaught, on Wednesday night, Fox News host Tucker Carlson unloaded on DHS Acting Secretary Chad Wolf for siding with Corporate America over the interests of American workers by moving forward with the extra visas.
Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf has used his discretionary powers to add 35,000 extra visas. That's a total of 100,000 extra workers coming to this country to take jobs during the single biggest unemployment crisis in a century. It's demented. [NumbersUSA]

EB-5 Visa Program - U.S. is NOT for sale

Senators mulling immigration increases in emergency spending bills. Tell your Senators to OPPOSE!

Friends, Our Capitol Hill team is learning of some troubling news. There are a handful of Senators, along with some in the White House, who are looking to slip an INCREASE of legal immigration into the emergency spending bills currently being drafted to deal with the coronavirus outbreak.

The provision being discussed would increase the number of EB-5 visas from 10,000 to 75,000. The EB-5 visa program provides foreign nationals with a green card in return for an investment in an American business that leads to the creation of at least 10 jobs for American workers. Currently, investors have to invest at least $900,000, but the provision could reduce that amount to $450,000.

Quite simply, the EB-5 visa program is the selling of U.S. citizenship. It's ridiculous to think that while Americans are concerned about their jobs and their health, that some Senators are looking for ways to benefit foreign nationals instead. Please call your two U.S. Senators and urge them to oppose any efforts to slip an EB-5 increase into the economic stimulus package. Congress should not be burying bad immigration policy into emergency bills.

NUMBERS USA on Refugees and Homeless

US and Florida taxpayers cannot be the welfare piggy bank for the world's refugees when we have so many of our own homeless, including veterans, that should be our first priority.

“In terms of absolute numbers, California has more than half of all unsheltered homeless people in the country (53 percent or 108,432), with nearly nine times as many unsheltered homeless as the state with the next highest number, Florida (6 percent or 12,476), despite California’s population being only twice that of Florida.”

As today is a holiday, you can't call today because of MLK Day or even leave a message but you can tomorrow at (850) 717-9337 or you can text right now at

Message from Numbers USA

Congress is back in session...
As many of you may know, Congress returned from a six-week recess on Tuesday to begin a month-long lame duck session.

On the top of its priority list is funding for seven government agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security. Congress must pass these funding bills by Dec. 7 to avoid a partial government shutdown.
Also on the to-do list is a criminal justice reform bill that Pres. Trump endorsed just yesterday. NumbersUSA takes no position on criminal justice reform, but we are concerned that the bill would allow for the early release of criminal aliens before they can be removed from the country.
Two actions you can take:

Action #1: No DACA for wall funding
There's been a push by some in Congress -- namely Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) -- to trade a DACA amnesty for border wall funding during the lame duck session. This could be done through either a standalone bill or the must-pass DHS spending bill.

Please cut and paste the following link to send your Members of Congress a message, urging them not to trade a DACA amnesty for wall funding. Our new, national exit polling found that midterm voters oppose a DACA-for-wall trade by more than a 2-to-1 margin.

Action #2: Fix criminal justice reform legislation
As it's currently drafted in the Senate, the criminal justice reform bill would allow for the early release of criminal aliens, including cartel and gang members, who have been jailed for committing deportable crimes before they can be removed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Please cut and paste the following link to send a message to your Republican Senator(s), urging them to oppose the prison reform bill until it prevents illegal-alien cartel and gang members from being eligible for early release.

An 8th Amnesty That Gives Chain Migration?

It just keeps getting worse--Our borders need to be protected and Chain Migration must end.

According to multiple reports, House Speaker Paul Ryan is nearing a deal with Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) that would set up votes on several immigration proposals in June in lieu of a discharge petition that would likely lead to the House passing a no-strings amnesty for at least 1.8 million. Immigration policy lowers wages & hurts American employment

CBS: Immigration policy lowers wages & hurts American employment.

CBS News reports that automakers (who receive hundreds of millions of dollars in U.S. subsidies and tax breaks) are profiting from the use of foreign workers who are paid "far less than Americans - about $10 an hour." "It's basically: sweatshop" says an American safety manager who has worked on the construction sites. Watch and Share the report

Automakers are exploiting visa loopholes to bring in foreign workers at low wages when American workers are available. In a separate interview, visa watchdog Jay Palmer explains how immigration policy gives employers a deal they can't refuse: "Why train an American as an apprentice or teach him how to do electricity or plumbing, {who} is maybe going to be unionized and pay $15-20 an hour when you can pay a foreign worker four dollars an hour, five dollars an hour, six dollars an hour? Why do that?"

Spread the word: The purpose of immigration shouldn't be to keep wages down. (twitter users can tweet directly at the president at @realDonaldTrump)

As is often the case, Americans who are harmed by these practices do not blame the foreign workers -- they blame the companies and the government policies. Daniel, a foreign-born American citizen and member of the sheet metal union tells CBS: "I have nothing against those men, they work here...I would do probably the same to provide for my family. But that should go towards our pensions, towards our daughters future or sons...not some other country....

"....I'm angry. Angry. Angry. There's lots of guys out there still looking for work. In the United States. And now we have how many, thousands and thousands Eastern European workers working here? And they're abused, too? Who lets this happen?" Daniel's anger is in the right place. The government lets this happen. It is the responsibility of our elected officials to reform immigration policy to once again serve American workers, including immigrants like Daniel.
Spread the word.
