Socialist and communist groups coordinated 'spontaneous' anti-ICE protests in Austin, investigation finds

Within hours of an ICE officer shooting a Venezuelan national in Austin, Texas, a network of socialist and communist organizations launched a synchronized social-media campaign and mobilized protesters to the scene, all while local media described the demonstrations as spontaneous.

The shooting happened around 12:56 p.m. Central Time on Sunday, September 20, when an ICE officer fired on 28-year-old Wilber Rafael Garcés Pérez during a traffic stop near Anderson Square and Research Boulevard. Pérez was hospitalized in serious but stable condition and later placed in federal custody.

By 4:19 p.m., roughly three and a half hours later, the Party for Socialism and Liberation's national X account had posted "BREAKING. MAN SHOT BY ICE AGENTS IN AUSTIN" and "ICE OUT OF AUSTIN NOW!" The Austin PSL chapter simultaneously pushed a matching graphic on Instagram, coordinating with PSL chapters in Houston, San Antonio, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Waco.

A Fox News Digital investigation traced the rapid mobilization across at least three distinct far-left organizations, the PSL, the Democratic Socialists of America's Austin chapter, and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization.

It was found that their social-media posts went live within minutes of each other, carried coordinated messaging, and funneled thousands of supporters toward the protest site before most local outlets had finished reporting the basic facts of the shooting.

Wiener hopes that the throng will reward his new anti-Israel position by overlooking the now inconvenient fact that to the antisemitic Democrat base he is still Jewish.

Wilmington officials remove more than 30 unauthorized DSA benches from city bus stops

City and state officials in Wilmington, North Carolina, pulled more than 30 illegal bus stop benches built by Democratic Socialists of America activists, and the group is now pressuring local leaders to let them put the propaganda back.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation removed 20 of the benches on August 6, and the City of Wilmington hauled away the rest the following day. The benches had been installed at city bus stops starting in April without approval from the city, the local transit authority, or the state. They carried political slogans, "We Must Have Mass Social Housing!" and "Liberation for All," among others, and sat on public rights-of-way where political messaging is prohibited.

Wilmington City Attorney Meredith Everhart laid out the violations in a statement first reported by WECT-TV on July 6. The benches, she said, "were not approved by the city or WAVE, aren't the correct type of bench, aren't ADA compliant, didn't go through the required permitting process and carry political messaging, which isn't allowed in public right-of-ways." WAVE is Wilmington's transit system.

The DSA chapter ignored the city's requests to take the benches down. Instead, the group launched a pressure campaign, posting a petition on its website and framing the project as an act of civic virtue.

So the benches were not just benches. They were, by the group's own admission, ideological infrastructure, placed without permission on public property, branded with socialist slogans, and defended as a demonstration of what DSA governance would look like.

Chris Matthews tells fellow Democrats to distance themselves from socialist wing before election

Veteran political pundit Chris Matthews urged Democrats running for office to publicly reject the Democratic Socialists of America and its platform, warning that failure to draw that line will cost the party in the final stretch of the campaign.

Socialist-backed candidates have already unseated sitting House incumbents in primary races this cycle, and the organization's footprint inside the Democratic coalition keeps expanding, whether party leadership wants to acknowledge it or not.

Matthews did not hold back on the broadcast. He framed the DSA's public platform as a gift to every non-socialist Democrat willing to use it, telling the "Morning Joe" audience:

"The DSA has done a favor to non-DSA Democrats, to regular Democrats who are regular members of the party. They've listed what they believe in. Their chair made that clear."

When figures like Matthews and Maher, both longtime fixtures of the center-left media establishment, start warning their own side that the socialist label is politically toxic, the party has a problem that goes beyond messaging.

The Oregon Legislature passed House Bill 4079 – the so-called Safeguarding Students and Families Act – in March, and Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek signed it on March 31. The law gives every public school and university in Oregon until September 30 to build out an ICE alert notification system.

Ten days later, the University of Oregon's chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America and the newly formed UO Anti-ICE Coalition marched to the Office of the President with a petition bearing 2,600 signatures, demanding the university skip the deadline and launch the system immediately.

This isn’t a peaceful protest; it is an organized multi-state criminal conspiracy to obstruct, harass, and impede federal law enforcement. It’s also called insurrection.

As Democrat politicians fan the flames with rhetoric — while gaslighting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal officers and President Trump as the ones inciting violence — an organized and well-funded left-wing coalition of groups is training radical activists to fight ICE.

Renee Nicole Good, the Anti-ICE “warrior” killed by an ICE officer during an attempted arrest, was a member of a key group in this subversive left-wing effort, “ICE Watch.”

As Paul Crespo explained in an earlier piece, neighbors told the New York Post that Good regularly attended meetings with the local ICE-Watch chapter and had received “thorough training” from the group. She wasn’t an innocent mom simply dropping off her kid at school.

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the political and ideological home of NYC’s new communist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, is also part of this campaign. The New York DSA chapter is now mobilizing a similar anti-ICE resistance for NYC.

"Former Clinton pollster Mark Penn said Friday on Fox News that crucial voter groups are fleeing the Democratic Party.

The Democratic Party's favorability rating plummeted to a new low of 29%, according to a CNN/SSRS poll conducted from March 6-9. During an appearance on "Hannity," Penn said he was shocked at the current state of the Democratic Party and said he's never seen its rating this low in decades.

"I've never seen anything like this in over 40 years of polling. The Democratic Party ratings have collapsed from a 47% favorable down to 29, 27 in some of these polls, and that's an incredible loss of moderate, working-class voters," Penn said.

Border czar Tom Homan appeared to calmly eat an apple on Wednesday while walking past protesters shouting at him about deportations during his visit to the New York state capitol in Albany.

Homan was in Albany to criticize the state's sanctuary law and to support efforts by Republican lawmakers to pass a state version of the Laken Riley Act, the New York Post reported.

Video posted by City and State New York associate state politics reporter Austin Jefferson showed Homan eating an apple and smirking as he passed the protesters, who were blocked by police.

Near the end of the video, New York State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani (D) shouted at border czar Tom Homan in response to the arrest and detention of Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Palestinian activist and former Columbia University student.

Mamdani, who is running for mayor of New York City, wrote in a post on X, that he “confronted” Homan, while he was in Albany. In a video on Mamdani’s post, he was seen shouting at Homan, asking him, “How many more New Yorkers? How many more New Yorkers will you detain? How many more New Yorkers without charge? Do you believe in the First Amendment? Do you believe in the First Amendment Tom Homan?”

Zohran Mamdani is what New York City has to look forward to. Zohran Mamdani is a Ugandan-born American democratic socialist politician and a member of the New York State Assembly. He is also a declared candidate for the 2025 New York City mayoral election, running on freezing rent, fare-free transit, and free childcare.
