Pulitzer winner Seymour Hersh claims US Navy behind Nord Stream 2 pipeline explosion

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh has alleged US Navy divers laid bombs that destroyed the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea last September, drawing a denial from the Pentagon Wednesday.

Hersh, who scooped journalism’s top award more than five decades ago for exposing the My Lai massacre of Vietnamese civilians by US troops in 1968, cited an unnamed source in reporting on Substack that Americans planted remotely triggered explosives that wrecked three of the four pipelines built to carry natural gas from Russia to Europe.

Hersh, 85, went on to claim that the Navy conducted the operation under the cover of a NATO maritime exercise, BALTOPS 22.

Russia’s state energy company Gazprom released a video on Monday titled “And Winter Will Be Big.” The short presentation shows European cities freezing over, with occasional cuts to useless windmills and solar panels, while a mournful song plays in the background.

Fans of the Russian government left YouTube comments praising the video as a masterful act of trolling. Gazprom shut down the flow of gas into Germany through its Nord Stream 1 pipeline last week, leaving the Europeans in a state of mounting panic as frigid winter temperatures approach. Gazprom’s taunting video was essentially a funeral dirge in advance.

WATER INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS CONTINUE IN LAKE WORTH

As part of the six-year water infrastructure improvement program, the City of Lake Worth Water Utilities Department will be replacing the 2” water mains at the following locations:

•    17th Avenue South | From South Lakeside Drive East to Dead End
•    Alley between South “J” Street & South “K” Street | From 12th Avenue South to 11th Avenue South
•    Alley between South “M” Street & South “N” Street | From 13th Avenue South to 11th Avenue South
•    Alley between North “L” Street & North “M” St. | From 8th Avenue North to 7th Avenue North
The City has contracted with Everglades Contracting LLC for this work.

The city is generally silent when it comes to telling you what the projects will cost when using your tax dollars. If you recall, the 2 inch watermains were to be replaced in the General Obligation Bond because the city wanted to grab your cash, all $63.5 million of it. Somehow they came up with the money--

The schedule for this replacement work is District 4, 3, 2 and 1.

• Alley water piping construction cost: $6,545,000;

• Easement water piping construction cost: $5,490,000;

• Road water piping construction cost: $1,566,000;

• Engineering/survey: $2,460,000;

• Loan fees and Reserves: $746,000--

TOTAL COST: 16,806,000

A solid majority of Americans think the U.S. government should approve of building the Keystone XL pipeline, while 29% think it should not. The evidence is mounting that not only do we have more than a century's worth of recoverable oil in the United States alone (even if there is a limit to the earth's oil supply), but that we also actually have a limitless supply of Texas tea because oil is in fact a renewable resource that is being constantly created deep under the earth's surface and which rises upward, where microscopic organisms that thrive in the intense pressure and heat miles below us interact with and alter it. Payroll Cut extended and Pipeline will accelerate

Senate Reaches Tentative Deal to Extend Payroll-Tax Cut by Two Months

Senate leaders said Friday night that they had reached a deal that would extend a payroll tax cut for two months. The agreement also would speed construction of an oil pipeline from Canada to the Gulf Coast — a provision necessary to win over Republicans who opposed the tax break.

News of the deal came as the 112th Congress lurched toward the end of its tumultuous first session. Earlier Friday the House finished off one of its last major pieces of business for the year with a 296-121 vote to approve a $1 trillion spending bill that would keep the government funded through Sept. 30, 2012. The Senate is set to approve it today.

Big Oil cut a back-room deal with the dirtiest Members of Congress to attach this legislation to a must-pass tax cut bill. These kinds of deals exemplify the tyranny Big Oil exercises over our government, and underscores why the President needs to threaten a veto, so says TarSandsAction.org.

Basically I am against both of these actions. People working need to pay the 6.2% into FICA. To continue to deplenish Social Security is ridiculous. The government needs to look at long term results, not short term. As far as the Tar Sands, see my blog on that subject.

I really believe in being energy independent. Who wants the Mid-East controlling prices on virtually everything that we buy? It is an area with constant unrest, uprisings and rebellion, literally an "oilquake" waiting to happen. We must have affordable petroleum. Like an addict, however, we must reduce our reliance on oil and break our $500 billion-a-year addiction and have other affordable choices for fuel.

It has been said that there is enough oil in the Gulf of Mexico to sustain the US for the next 50 years at current usage levels. The trouble is that the oil is in VERY DEEP water. This is a political nightmare after the BP disaster. Sarah Palin wants to "drill baby drill." However, when I see a video like this, it is shocking. Greed supersedes all else and it rules all over the world.




We need to stop raiding our treasury for other people's wars and other countries problems and invest in our own country's future. Reduce the national debt and stop running our country on credit. Give businesses huge tax breaks to invest in this country and limit any outsourcing of jobs and manufacturing plants. Stop allowing our enemies to get the upper hand. End this imbalance of trade and turn it in the other direction. We are building up the economies of the world to the detriment of ours. Unions, get smart. (I always like to throw that one in there for Mary Lindsey):)
