Rep. Andy Ogles moves to impeach federal judge who blocked Trump's TPS decision on Somali nationals

A Tennessee Republican congressman says he will file articles of impeachment against the federal judge who blocked President Trump from ending Temporary Protected Status for Somalis, accusing her of defying the Supreme Court.

Rep. Andy Ogles announced on Friday that he plans to introduce the impeachment articles against U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs, who issued a ruling preventing the Trump administration from terminating TPS protections for Somali nationals.

Ogles, in a statement provided to Just the News, framed the move as a direct response to what he called Burroughs' refusal to follow Supreme Court precedent on the issue.

The congressman did not hold back. He accused the Obama-appointed judge of substituting her own preferences for settled law and acting to undermine the president's authority over immigration policy.

Federal judges serve lifetime appointments precisely so they can rule without fear of political retaliation. But that independence was never meant to be a license to override the elected branches on questions the Constitution assigns to them.

Eric Schmitt Releases Biden Memo on Last-Minute TPS Push for 3 Million Illegals

According to Schmitt, Republican Senator from Misouri, the January 2025 memo discussed expanding TPS to cover more than 3 million people. The memo reportedly listed about 1.5 million Guatemalans, 600,000 Ecuadorians, 464,000 Nicaraguans, and 455,000 Venezuelans as still eligible for the program.

It also referenced populations from Ukraine, Sudan, and Afghanistan who could potentially receive protection.

The timing is the key issue here. This was during Biden’s final stretch in office, after voters had already chosen President Trump to return to the White House on a platform that included tougher immigration enforcement.

Republicans argue the memo shows Biden officials were looking for ways to lock in protections before Trump could act.

“After the American people voted for President Trump’s promise to end the TPS scam, the Biden administration tried to subvert the will of the American people. This was mass amnesty-by-decree. America is for Americans, and it is our home—it is not a permanent refugee camp,” Schmitt added.

Democrats don't know what "legal" and "temporary" mean

Democrats unravel after Supreme Court upholds Trump's authority to end Haitian TPS protections

The Supreme Court handed the Trump administration three 6-3 victories on immigration Thursday, and the Democratic response arrived within minutes, loud, emotional, and revealing.

Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus rushed to the microphones to denounce the rulings, accuse the justices of white supremacy, and recast hundreds of thousands of Temporary Protected Status holders as "American families", a rhetorical sleight of hand that tells you everything about where the left stands on the distinction between legal and temporary.

1. The most consequential of the three decisions, Mullin v. Doe, confirmed that the Trump administration can end TPS for roughly 350,000 Haitians and 6,100 Syrians living in the United States, overturning lower federal court orders that had blocked the termination.
2. A second ruling, Mullin v. Al Otro Lado, clarified that a migrant who has not physically set foot on U.S. soil is not entitled to apply for asylum and does not have to be inspected by an immigration officer.
3.  A third, Blanche v. Muk Choi Lau, will make it easier for the Department of Homeland Security to deport green card holders convicted of crimes.

All three decisions came down on the same 6-3 margin. All three restored executive authority that lower courts had stripped away. And all three drew the same furious reaction from Democrats who have spent years treating temporary immigration protections as permanent entitlements.

They redesignated TPS countries on a rolling basis – shifting the cutoff date forward every 18 months to pull in new arrivals who had crossed the border during the Biden surge itself.

"About half of all current TPS beneficiaries weren't even residing in the United States until after Joe Biden took office," Gill told the committee. "In other words, TPS was a vehicle for providing backdoor amnesty for the very people that the American people saw pouring into our border for four years."

Ten House Republicans break with Trump to extend temporary protected status for Haitians

Ten House Republicans crossed party lines Thursday to join Democrats and one independent in passing legislation that would extend temporary protected status for more than 350,000 Haitian nationals, a direct rebuke of the Trump administration's effort to end the program and resume deportations to Haiti.

The measure passed 224-204, Fox News Digital reported, though it faces long odds in the Republican-led Senate and a near-certain presidential veto.

The vote marked one of the most visible breaks between GOP lawmakers and the White House on immigration policy this Congress. It came after Democrats, led by Rep. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, used a procedural tool known as a discharge petition to force the bill to the House floor, bypassing Republican leadership entirely. The petition needed 218 signatures, and enough Republicans signed on to clear that threshold.

Rep. Laura Gillen, a New York Democrat, sponsored the resolution on the floor. But the story is less about what Democrats did, they were expected to support the measure, and more about the ten Republicans who chose to stand with them against their own president's stated immigration priorities.

But the 224 that voted to extend TPS also sidestep a harder question: whether a program designed as temporary relief has become, in practice, a permanent residency track that Congress never voted to create. That is precisely the concern the Trump administration has raised.

As Andy Biggs said, "Members of Congress have a sacred and exclusive duty to our American constituents, not to foreign nationals."

Nilufar Yasmin was a mother of two from Bangladesh. This is a real human tragedy with a grieving family at its center.

Officials report Joachim entered the country in 2022 and was later granted Temporary Protected Status for Haitians. TPS is a program meant to protect certain foreign nationals from return to dangerous conditions in their home countries.

Critics say the program has been abused and that removals are blocked by the courts. Supporters say TPS keeps people safe from harm abroad. The details of Joachim’s immigration record are now part of the criminal investigation. [PageTraveler]

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti is currently designated through February 3, 2026,. Although termination was scheduled for that date, a federal court order on February 2, 2026, has stayed the termination, with litigation potentially affecting the final expiration date.

After reviewing country conditions and consulting with the appropriate U.S. government agencies, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem determined that Haiti no longer meets the conditions for its designation for Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

Haiti’s TPS designation and related benefits were slated to terminate on Feb. 3, 2026. On February 2, 2026, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued an order staying the TPS Haiti termination. Miot et al. v. Trump et al., No. 25-cv-02471-ACR, D.D.C.).

Haiti has had a TPS for 16 years. There is nothing "temporary" about that.

Under the previous administration, Temporary Protected Status was abused to allow violent terrorists, criminals, and national security threats into our nation.

TPS was never designed to be permanent, yet previous administrations have used it as a de facto amnesty program for decades.

This fits a pattern Miller has documented for months. He has repeatedly called out what he terms “judicial tyranny” from Democratic-appointed judges who manufacture weak legal arguments to obstruct immigration enforcement. “We are living under judicial tyranny,” he warned last August. “The judicial coup continues,” he said in June 2025. The man has been sounding the alarm. Few listened.

The strategy here is transparent. Every injunction drains White House resources and burns daylight on the President’s term. Even when appellate courts overturn these rulings—and they likely will—the delay itself counts as a win for open-border advocates.

A Uruguayan-born judge appointed by President Joe Biden has invented a novel excuse to block President Donald Trump from terminating Biden’s award of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to 350,000 illegal-migrant Haitians.

The text of the TPS quasi-amnesty law bars judges’ intervention in TPS decisions by saying “There is no judicial review of any [TPS] determination.”

But Judge Ana Reyes, an immigrant and a Harvard graduate, claims that she is still allowed to review the process of the TPS determination.

DHS ends Biden-era Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelan illegal migrants

In 2021, then-President Joe Biden's administration granted Temporary Protected Status to hundreds of thousands of Venezuelan migrants who'd entered the country illegally, effectively saving them from the risk of deportation to their nation of origin.

On Wednesday, that 2021 TPS designation for Venezuelans was formally ended by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, rendering nearly 270,000 formerly protected Venezuelan nationals eligible for deportation, according to Fox News.

The move comes amid a broader Trump administration effort to exert increased pressure on Venezuelan socialist dictator Nicholas Maduro, the criminal Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, and the illicit drug trafficking trade that helps finance the socialist narco-state.

Fox News reported that former President Biden's administration issued two TPS designations for Venezuelan migrants, in 2021 and 2023, that protected from deportation approximately 268,000 and 348,000 illegal aliens, respectively.

The 2023 designation was previously ended in April, and on Wednesday, a DHS press release announced that Sec. Noem had likewise terminated the 2021 designation, which was set to expire on September 10, with an effective date for the termination around 60 days later.

It was determined that "conditions in Venezuela no longer meet the TPS statutory requirements." DHS said, "TPS was never meant to be a de facto asylum system, yet that is exactly what the Biden administration turned it into."

A country may be designated for TPS for one or more of the following reasons:

• An ongoing armed conflict, such as a civil war, that poses a serious threat to the personal safety of returning nationals
• An environmental disaster, such as an earthquake, hurricane, or epidemic, that results in a substantial but temporary disruption of living conditions, and because of which the foreign state is temporarily unable to adequately handle the return of its nationals
• Extraordinary and temporary conditions in the foreign state that prevent its nationals from returning to the state in safety (unless the U.S. government finds that permitting these nationals to remain temporarily in the United States is contrary to the U.S. national interest).

And of course, our goverment is being sued.

An appellate court just gave President Donald Trump and his administration the okay to terminate the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) of tens of thousands of illegal immigrants currently residing in the United States.

Breitbart News reports that the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued its ruling on Wednesday.

In the process of doing so, the court overturned the decision of Judge Trina Thompson of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Thompson is a Biden appointee.

The appellate court decision was 3 to 0.

TPS for Afghans temporarily blocked by Fourth Circuit

Appeals Court Blocks Trump from Ending Afghan Migrant Amnesty

The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit has temporarily blocked President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Afghan migrants who were imported to the United States under former President Joe Biden.

In May, Trump’s DHS announced that the agency would end TPS, a quasi-amnesty program, for about 75,000 Afghan migrants whom the Biden administration had resettled across the U.S. in mere months.

CASA, Inc., the open borders organization, filed a lawsuit.

TPS for Afghans was supposed to be terminated on July 12, but the appeals court has now halted DHS from moving forward with the plan, giving the Trump administration and CASA about a week to file briefs on the merits of the lawsuit.

There has been widespread fraud and abuse as well as terrorism within the Afghan resettlement carried out by Biden, law enforcement agencies and inspectors general offices have repeatedly found.
