British author Martin Amis, who died Friday, lived quietly in Lake Worth Beach
LAKE WORTH BEACH — For many modern literature lovers around the world, the news that the British writer Martin Amis died here Friday may have been the first mention they ever saw of Lake Worth Beach, the small city by the sea where he chose to make one of his homes.For many here, the news brought the first mention that the author and journalist, renowned for sardonically summing up the angst and absurdity of his generation, lived among us.
Amis was 73, and died of esophageal cancer at his Lake Worth Beach home located in the north end and is survived by his wife and five children.
