Anti-Capitalist ‘Pay What You Can’ Café Closes After One Year In Business

In a predictable outcome, The Anarchist Café in Toronto, in an attempt at promoting anti-capitalist ideals, has announced its closure after just one year of operations.

The owner of the café, Gabriel, self-proclaimed “The Anarchist,” bemoaned the lack of generational wealth and seed capital from what they deem as ethically bankrupt sources.

The admission exposed the fundamental contradiction of their anti-capitalist stance. Without the support of the very system they despise, the café struggled to weather the quiet winter season and failed to achieve long-term sustainability.
