Biden Administration Blindsided by Reporter's Question About American Arrested by Ukrainian Gov't
A U.S. citizen residing in Ukraine who is a writer and YouTube commentator, Gonzalo Lira, has been arrested. He was a California-born man and an outspoken critic of Zelenskyy’s regime.The United States State Department spokesman Matthew Miller refused to provide further comment on the arrest of a U.S. citizen residing in Ukraine by the Ukrainian government.
Miller was answering questions from reporters on the war between Russia and Ukraine during a May 25 news briefing when Epoch Times reporter Liam Cosgrove raised the question of the arrested U.S. citizen.
The Ukrainian SBU released a press release saying he was arrested for justifying Putin’s invasion.
So, we have Zelenskyy to whom this country has given billions who arrests an American citizen for his speech and opinion. Anti regime speech is something he has in common with Biden.

It's a shame Democrats don't believe in freedom.
While it is true that Lira has criticized the Zelensky regime and the eight-year-long shelling of Donbas residents by Kyiv, he has not participated in any activities other than exercising his right to free speech as a citizen and respected journalist. Whether or not we agree with Lira's opinions, freedom of speech must not be restricted, especially during times of conflict. These are the values we claim to be defending.
Or put it this way, free speech is still a freedom we have in this country although Democrats are eroding that day by day. Because someone has a different opinion they throw him in jail? I believe Dems would do that if they could get away with it but you personally get away with it from time to time on this blog.
Free speech is for all not just for liberal Dems. Let RFK Jr debate!
